Overview
Advantech N-Key series is designed to enhance
managed switch maintenance efficiency and reduce
system downtime. Plug and play to save/load the
setup configuration of Advantech's managed switches
through the RS-232 console ports without any
additional setting required. It greatly simplifies
network deploying/maintaining/repairing processes
for IT/OT technicians and saves a lot of time and
cost.

Before installation, please make sure that you have

Automatic Backup and Restore
 Automatic Backup Settings
1. Please ensure that “Auto Mode” is turned on
before using the automatic backup or restore
functions. To enable these functions, log into the
switch web console and navigate to Switch >
Tools > N-Key, then select “Auto Mode”.
2. To backup the switch configuration automatically,
simply plug the ICE-9NKY series device into a
console port after the Advantech switches are
powered on*.
3. While the ICE-9NKY series device is backing up
the switch configuration, the system LED will
blink slowly. The backup process may take 1 ~ 2
minutes to complete.
4. When the system LED stops blinking, the
ICE-9NKEY series device can be removed from
the switch. The configuration data will now be in
N-Key.
*Wait until the system LED stops blinking
 Automatic Restore Settings
1. Please ensure that “Auto Mode” is turned on
before using the automatic backup or restore
functions. To enable these functions, log into the
switch web console and navigate to Switch > Tools
> N-Key, then select “Auto Mode”.
2. To restore the switch configuration automatically,
simply power off the switch and plug the
ICE-9NKY series device into console port, then
power on the switch.
3. The ICE-9NKY series device will restore the
switch configuration automatically. During this
process, the system LED will blink slowly. The
backup process may take 1 ~ 2 minutes to
complete.
4. When the system LED stops blinking, the
ICE-9NKEY series device can be disconnected
from the configured switches.

1. Please ensure that “Auto Mode” is turned off
before connecting the ICE-9NKY series device to
the switches. To disable this function, log into the
switch web console and navigate to Switch > Tools
> N-Key, then uncheck the “Auto Mode” option.
2. After Auto Mode is disabled, the N-Key Status
dropdown menu with three options will be shown.

3. After selecting the N-Key Status from the
dropdown menu, click Apply. The ICE-9NKY
series device will then begin the configuration
backup/restore process, during which the system
LED will blink slowly. The process may take 1 ~ 2
minutes to complete.
4. When the system LED stops blinking, the
ICE-9NKEY series device can be disconnected
from the switches.
WARNING
Do not remove the ICE-9NKY series device
while the SYS LED is blinking.
Ensure that the switches are powered on before
initiating the automatic backup function.
