No transformer or power supply necessary.)
Optional Equipment
May be desired or necessary depending
on job specification or requirements.
• 4229 zone expander (refer to Section 2)
• 7720P AlarmNet programming tool
• 7825-OC outdoor antenna
• Antenna cables
• 7720V2TR 6V DC power pack
Check MicroBurst Coverage Availability
Use job premises zip code to confirm that MicroBurst service is active in
the local cellular network. Check zip code at the AlarmNet web site.

2. Which Operating Mode to Use With
Different Types of Control Panels
The 7845C has four different modes of operation, which can be selected
using the tamper switch during start-up. Which mode you use depends
on what type of control panel you will connect to the radio.
Table 1 indicates which modes to use with various panels.
Table 1. Operating Modes for Use with Control Panels
• ECP Mode (VISTA with E2 only) - Contact ID communication
• Programmable Relay Emulation Mode - Relay commands are
sent via data connection (ECP) from the host (VISTA)panel to
the 7845C (does not require 4204 module)
• 4229 Mode - Allows the use of a 4229 zone expander as a
seven zone input board
• Zone Mode - Single Zone Input (Pulsed Input = Zone 1, Steady
Input = Zone 2).

3. Antenna Placement and Transmitter Installation
Guidelines
• Use the signal strength meter (five horizontal LEDs) to determine
quality of reception
• Strive for the maximum possible signal strength-5 BARS, and
• Never settle for less than three steady bars of signal strength.
Procedures
Activate the Radio
1. Connect the battery.
2. Radio will initiate start-up procedure (2-5 minutes).
3. When completed:
• Red LED will be OFF, indicating positive
MicroBurst availability.
• IF red LED stays on, go to Appendix II Troubleshooting.
• Amber LED will blink steadily, either once or twice per second, depend-
ing on carrier selected.
• Green LED on solid.
Select Mounting Location
1. Hold radio against wall for 10 seconds at desired
mounting location.
2. Check to be sure that this location provides at least three steady bars
on the signal strength meter.
3. If signal strength is inadequate, move radio and hold for another 10
seconds.
4. Use 7825-OC outdoor antenna if specified or necessary.
5. Even if original location provides three bars of signal strength, test
several other locations for better signal strength.
6. Refer to Appendix I for tips on finding best locations.
7. STRIVE FOR FIVE bars of signal strength.
8. Conduct click test using tamper switch to confirm clear RF path to the
network.
9. Mark location with best signal strength for
later mounting.
Program the Radio
1. Power down the unit.
2. Identify operating mode to be used according to control panel type
(refer to Section 2).
3. Power up unit.
4. Use tamper switch to select operating mode.
5. Program radio using PRO registration method or
7720P if necessary.
NOTE: Refer to appropriate subsection in Section 4 for details.

Mount the Radio
1. Mount in previously selected and tested location.
2. Register the Radio
3. Triple click tamper switch or press SHIFT [È] to register.
4. GreenL ED will go OFF when radio has successfully
registered (30 seconds).
5. Wire Radio to Control Panel
6. Refer to appropriate diagram in Section 4.
7. Test Alarm Delivery to Central Station
8.Test according to your company’s standard
installation procedure.

A Appendix A. Tips for Finding the
Best Antenna Location
The best mounting location may not be close to the
control panel. Many typical control panel locations,
such as basements or closets, are very poor locations
for cellular transmitters such as the 7845C. If the area
near the control panel does not provide three bars of
signal, then you will need to move the radio and test
other areas of the premise.
When you find a location that provides three bars,
continue to “fine tune,” testing for even better signal
strength in the immediate area.
General Guidelines
GO FOR HEIGHT
* The higher the better.
* Plan to install at eye level or higher on a wall.
* Go to upper stories whenever possible.
* Avoid basements.
AVOID OBSTACLES
* Always mount on exterior walls, near windows if possible.
* Keep away from large metal objects such as filing cabinets,
refrigerators, water heaters, furnaces, etc.
* Stay away from heavy concrete walls.
* Remember to consider metal roofs, siding, and wall studs as
possible problems.
AVOID INTERFERENCE
* Never mount the radio inside the control panel can.
* Keep away from other radio devices, including other wireless
security devices (ie, wireless sensors and panel receivers).
* Avoid common electronic devices such as
televisions, stereos, and computers.
REMEMBER THAT AN ACCESSORY ANTENNA IS AVAILABLE
* If the signal strength inside a location is too weak, but
reception is good outside, use a 7825-OC and cable to mount
the antenna outdoors.
* Just make sure to test for optimal signal strength at the out-
door location (at least three bars).
