
How to use your car
Before
slartlng
lhe enginemakesure the gear leveris in neutral. Pull
out the choke,insert
the keyin lhe ignitionswitchand start
the engine,
Particularly
when starting
from cold in winter,it is advisable,
in order
to facilitate
starting,
to press
the clutchpedaldown fully and the accel-
erator through aboutone quarterof iis stroke while at the same time
operatingthe choke lever.
As soon as the engine fires releasethe ignition key.
ll the engine lails to start at once, do not k€ep ihe slarling molor running
(or the batterywill soon become discharged)but wait a few minutes
and try again.
lf it still will not start.look tor the cause as follows:
a lhe batery charge may be too weak to rotate the starting motor
sufticientlyfast to start lhe engine:
a the ignition
equipment
maybedefective
(dirtyplugs,
excessive
spark
gaps, oxidiz€d contact-breaker
points,wet or cracked distributor
cap, damaged distributoror coil);
a the carburetlor may be dirty and jets clogged;
a electric circuits may be broken or fuses blown.
Whenthe enginehas started,movechoke lever halfwayback until the
engineis warm and then push it down.
Do nol accelerale lhe englne until il has warmed up, since when the
engineis cold lhe oil cannot reach all points requiring
lubrication.
Make sure the oll pressuje shown by the gauge is as prescribed
and the oil pressurewarning Iight goes off as soon as the engine
speed exceedsidling.
Make sure the altemaloi warning light goes otf as soon as engine speed
exceedsidling.
In summer,or when lhe engine is already
hot, do not use the choke.
Startingwill be tacilitated
if the accelerator
is depressed
about half
way so that the carburettor
throttle is opened in order to lean lhe
mixture.
Th€ switch lever may be in either ot the two positions. The warning
lightson the dashboardare out.
Press
on the knob ifiespectiveof the position
of the switch.
