ALLIANCE VL3200.5 User manual

Welcome to the ALLIANCE! By purchasing your new ALLIANCE Audio amplifier you are joining a
widespread movement dedicated to bringing power, performance, and value to the world of
car audio.
Before installing and using your new ALLIANCE Amplifier, please review and become familiar
with all of the information in this manual.
Do not open or attempt to repair this amplifier yourself. Potentially dangerous levels of high
voltage are present which may result in electric shock. Should you experience the need for
service, please return your amplifier to the Authorized ALLIANCE Audio dealer from whom you
purchased the unit for any required service.
ALLIANCE Audio recommends that all ALLIANCE Audio products be installed by Authorized
ALLIANCE Audio dealers for optimum performance.
Safety First!
Before you drill or cut any holes, look at your vehicle layout very carefully. Be very
careful when you work near the gas tank, fuel lines, hydraulic lines, and electrical wiring.
Mount before using. This will protect against damage and shorts that may occur with
movement.
Disconnect your battery before making or breaking power connections.
Confirm your source unit is powered off while connecting input jacks and speaker
terminals.
Make sure to use an inline fuse for your mono amplifier installations. Fuse size
recommendations are located at the end of the manual.
Mount Up!
Find a suitable location in the vehicle in which to mount your ALLIANCE Amplifier.
Make sure there is sufficient air circulation.
Mark the location where you are mounting the amplifier and use a scribe or mounting
screw to mark the locations of the mounting holes.
Drill pilot holes (remember, check behind anything you are drilling) and then mount the
amplifier.
Connection Time!
Connect the Ground terminal to the closest point on the chassis of the car. This
connection should be no longer than 36” in length. Use 4-gauge (or heavier) wire.
Connect the Remote terminal to the remote output of the head unit. Use 16-gauge (or
heavier) wire.
Connect Power wire to battery. Make sure to use an inline fuse that matches the
ratings called out for your amplifier at the end of this manual. The inline fuse should be
mounted within 18” of the car battery. Use 4-gauge wire (or heavier) from the fuse
location to the amplifier.
Connect all inputs and outputs (if used) using high quality cables. For best results
always use pure copper cable.
Connect all speakers using high quality speaker cable. Be sure to observe proper
polarity to avoid audio phase issues.
Recheck all connections before powering the amplifier.
Set all level controls to minimum position and set all crossover controls/switches to the
desired frequency points.
Power up the head unit and amplifier. Set the volume control on the head unit to about
¾ the volume and adjust the amplifier input level control(s) to just below the level of
distortion.
When adjusting the amplifier, please remember, the input level control is not a volume
control. It is designed to match the output level of your audio source to the input level
of your amplifier.

Check to make sure you have a good ground connection.
Check that there is a battery power on the (+) terminal.
Check all fuses, replace if necessary.
Make sure that the protection LED is not illuminated.
Check for short circuits on speaker leads.
Check that the speaker load is not beyond the minimum load.
Remove speaker lead and reset the amplifier. If the protection LED
still comes on, then see your Authorized ALLIANCE Audio

side.
Check the amplifier grounding.
Check that the input level control is set to match the signal level
of the head unit.
Always try to set the input level as low as possible.
Check that all crossover frequencies are properly set.
Check for short circuits on the speaker leads.
