SAFETY INFORMATION
Always disconnect the power supply prior to servicing the fan, motor, or junction box.
Follow all local building, safety, and electrical codes as well as NEC (National Electrical
Code) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act).

Electric Service supply must be 120 volts, 60 hertz.
•This product must properly connect to the grounding conductor of the supply circuit.
•Do not bend or kink the power wires.
•Do not use this fan with any solid state control device, such as a remote control,
dimmer switch, or certain timers. Mechanical timers are not solid state devices.

Do not install in a ceiling with insulation greater than R40.
•
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY

Duct work should be installed in a straight line with minimal bends.
Use this unit in the manner intended by the manufacturer. If you have
any questions. Please call customer service.
•Duct work size must be the same size as the exhaust flange and should not be reduced.
Reducing the duct size may increase fan noise.
•
If this unit is to be installed over a tub or shower, it must be marked as a appropriate
for the application. When the fan is going to install in the bathroom, the fan and the
tub need to be more than 1.0 meter between each other, the fan required to install
at the other side of the tub in ceiling. Acceptable for use over a bathtub or shower
when installed in a GFCI protected branch circuit.

WARNING
Before servicing or cleaning unit, switch power off at service panel
and lock the service disconnecting means to prevent power from
being switched on accidentally. When the service disconnecting
means cannot be locked, securely fasten a prominent warning device,
such as a tag, to the service panel.

Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by a qualified
person(s) in accordance with all applicable codes and standards,
including fire-rated construction.

When cutting the ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other
hidden utilities.

Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.

Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of
gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel burning equipment to prevent
backdrafting. Follow the heating equipment manufacturer’s guideline
and safety standards such as those published by the National Fire
Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society for Heating,
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and local code
authorities.

Before First Use
•Check for transport damage.

Ensure ducting from fan to the outside of structure uses the shortest and straightest
route for best performance. Not doing so can restrict air flow and increase noise and
energy usage. Never reduce the recommended ductwork size. Fans using existing
ducting may not achieve full air flow raitings.

• Firmly grip wire and insert stripped end of wire into open port of quick connect wire
connector. Only insert one wire per port. Wires should only be inserted into quick
connect wire connectors that have same color wire covering.
• Ensure stripped end of wires are tight and fully inserted to back of connector.

• Carefully remove the unit from the carton.

• You may need the help of a second person to install this fan. One person on the attic
side and one on the room side.
• Ensure area above installation location is clear for proper wiring and duct work for
fan installation and future maintenance.
Pre-Installation
Before installing product, make sure all parts are included. Compare parts with parts list
contents on page 3. If any parts were not included or damaged, do not attempt to install
the product.
Turn off electricity at the service panel before beginning installation.
WARNING
Replacement fan installations may vary due to how previous fans were
installed. Tools and supplies needed for proper installation are not
included but can be found at home improvement and hardware stores.

• Insert suspension bracket (E)
into bracket cover on the side of the fan
housing (A) with the duct connector flange.
Insert suspension bracket (F) and suspension
bracket (G) on the opposite side of fan
housing (A).
• Secure fan housing (A) to the joists with
suspension brackets (E, F, G) using
wood screws (C). Ensure flang on
fan housing (A) is flush with the bottom
of the ceiling joists.
• Secure all suspension brackets (E, F, G) to the
fan housing (A) using the machine
screws (D). Tighten with a phillips screwdriver.

• Connect a 4 in. circular duct (not supplied)
and vent it outside. Securewith duct tape (
not supplied) or a clamp (not supplied) to make
connection secure and air tight.
• Turn on power source. Check fan
for abnormal sounds or vibration.
• Pinch the spring clips and insert the grille (B)
into narrow rectangular slots inside of the fan
housing (A) next to thefan motor.

Step 1: Removing the existing fan
Make sure power is switched off at service panel before starting
installation. Determine if you have above or attic acces.

• Measure the opening to ensure it is
large enough to accommodate the
new fan body (A) (10.8 in. x 10.5 in.).

• Pull the house wires through the wire
cover hole (1). Use wire clamp (optional).
• Pull a 4 in. circular duct (not provided)
through the large square opening.

Install the housing (A) to the joist using
one of the following two methods:
If spacing between the joists is 12 in.,
secure the bottom of the housing (A) to
the bottom of the joists through the drywall
using 4 screws (C).
If spacing between the joists is greater
than 12 in., secure either side of the
inside of the housing to the joists using
4 screws (C). Flange will be on bottom
side of drywall.

• Reinstall the junction box (1) into the
housing using the previously-removed
screw (2).

TROUBLESHOOTING

able to draw air out of the room without
enough airflow to draw from.
Be sure the CFM rating on the fan
matches the requirements for your room

correct method for determining if the fan
is operating properly. If the fan clears
steam from the room within approximately

Preinstalación

instalaron los ventiladores anteriores. Las herramientas y suministros
necesarios para una instalación adecuada no se incluyen, pero se pueden
adquirir en ferreterías y tiendas de herramientas.
