De ice Installation
Wall Mounting:
1. Re ove etal plate fro packaging and use the accessory screws
to ount it onto the wall 4-5 feet above the ground.
2. On the back of the device, there are four grooves used to hang the
device onto the ounting plate. Align the four grooves on the
Device with the four hooks on the ounting plate. Hang the device
on the ounting plate. Then, tighten the safety screws.

Configuring Communication mode

AMG I-30B device supports 5 different types of co unication odes
when connecting to a co puter with AMG software installed.
• Ethernet / TCP-IP ( co puter network )
• Serial (RS232) cable
• USB cable
• USB Flash disk data transfer
• RS485
Ethernet / TCP-IP Communication Mode

Ethernet co
unication ethod, will allow you connect device to your
local network or WAN.
1. Press Menu key > Setup >
Communication

Generally you want to start with value "1" for the first device and

Use the RS232 cable to connect the device to the co puter. Connect
the corresponding end of the cable to the 9-pin serial co unication
port on the co puter and the other end to the RS232 co unication
port on the device as shown below.
Note: Connections using the RS 3 cable should not exceed 40 feet.
If the connection will be over a distance greater than 40 feet, please use RS485 or
Ethernet communication mode.
1. Press Menu Key > Setup > Communication. Set Device ID, Baud
Rate, press ESC and press OK to save changes.
2. Power cycle device.
3. Connect the RS232 (serial) cable with one end connected to the 9-
pin co unication serial port of the PC and the other to the RS232
co unication interface on device.
4. Power cycle device.

1. Press Menu Key > Setup > Communication.

3. Power cycle device.
4. Prepare an Cat-5 cable according to the actual distance fro device
to the co puter. One end of cable should ounted to RJ-45 header
and the other end is bare wire. Connect the 7th and 8th pin
respectively on 485(+) and 485 (-) on the converter (refer to
appendix for ore details).
5. Connect the RS485 converter into the serial port of the co puter
(Figure 4.1). Connect the other end with RS232 header to the RS232
interface on the Device. The RS485 converter is shown in Figure
4.1.

distance ust not exceed 1200 eters.

USB Flash Disk Communication Mode
"USB download" option, allows you to transfer attendance infor ation
si ply using a USB flash disk will also can be used to upload e ployee
enroll ent fro another clock as well.
1.
Attendance records will be stored in the device every ti e
e ployee punching in and out. These data can be downloaded fro
device onto the USB drive and then uploaded to your co puter
then acquired and analyzed by the AMG Attendance Software.
2.
All proxi ity card or PIN enrolled in device can be downloaded
to the USB flash disk, which later can be uploaded to a different
AMG-I-30B device.
Downloading employee Attendance Records
1.
Insert the USB drive into the USB port of device
2.
Press MENU > Enroll > USB Download, Press OK to enter
3.
Select Glog. Press OK to start the downloading process.

Note : If there are no new ATTENDANCE records in the device (attendance data
that has been downloaded or collected is no longer a new record), the message
"Download Fail" will appear in (GLog)

After co pleting the download, unplug the USB drive and insert it
into the co puter's USB port. Open AMG software and select poll
function, and choose poll device fro file to i port attendance
records into the database.
Downloading/Uploading Employee Enrollment
1.
Insert the USB drive into the USB port of device
2.
Press MENU > Enroll > USB Download > AllEnrollDown
3.
Press OK and start downloading the enroll ent data.
4.
To upload enroll ent data, to a different device.
Plug the flash disk to different device USB port
press MENU > Enroll > USB Download > Upload Enroll
5.
If there an enroll ent present in the device, a essage will pro pt
you to delete all registrations.
By pressing OK, all registration data in the device will be overwritten by
the enroll ent fro USB flash disk. You ay press ESC then device will

pro pt confir ation for each duplicate ID .
In figure above eans, device is pro pting if you want to keep a password (PIN) fro
e ployee with ID nu ber 00001. If you press OK, the password of E ployee ID 00001
stored in device will be overwritten by New enroll ent fro USB flash disk.
This process will be repeated device finished checking for any duplicate IDs

USB Cable Communication Mode
1. Press Menu Key > Setup > Communication. Set Device
ID, Baud Rate, press ESC and press OK to save changes.
2. Connect the USB cable with one end connected to USB port of
the PC, and the other end to USB port in ter inal.

Enrolling an Administrator
Ad inistrator, is a person who has full access of Proxi ity reader
device, and have the right to enrolling new e ployees.
Before enrolling any e ployee in device you should enroll an
Ad inistrator first.
Depending on the authority level, ad inistrator can be classified as
Super Administrator and General Manager. Super Ad inistrator
handles device anage ent and configuration as well enrolling
e ployees and other ad inistrator (full access). on the other hand
General Manager li ited to handle e ployee enroll ent only.
Super Ad inistrators are typically the individuals authorized as the
device's anager for an organization
Enrolling a Super Administrator
1. Press Menu button > Enroll > Manager > Super Admin
2. Select card and press OK to register new card as shown below or
you ay press "" "" key to enroll "password"/ PIN instead.
