What is PortaCom?
PortaCom is a portable two-channel communication system
that’s simple to set up and use. The main components include
a power console, belt packs and headsets. Station-to-station
connections are made using standard microphone cable with
3-pin XLR connectors.
ThePC-100powerconsole has four outputs. The system can be
expanded and configured in numerous ways using the B3-100
branch boxes. A typical 6-headset system is shown below:

Description & Operation
BP-200 Belt Pack
TheBP-200hasafemale3-pinXLRinput/line jack and a male
4-pin XLR headset jack, both on the bottom side (power is
supplied through the cable by the PC-100). The top has a
volume control (which adjusts the
individual headset listening level, not
the volume of the entire system), an
A/Bchannelswitch,a mic muteswitch
andacalllightwith switchforpaging.
Pushing the call switch lights the call
light on all beltpacks connected to the
system (use it to alert users who may not
be wearing their headsets).
Set the belt pack’s mic switch to the “on” position to enable
the headset microphone. Setting the switch to the
“off” position will short or mute the mic (but does
not affect the headset listening volume).
H-200 and H-200S Headsets
To adjust the listening volume on the H-200 (dual-earpiece)
or H-200S (single) headset, use the volume control on the
BP-200 belt pack.
The headset’s female 4-pin
XLR connector plugs into the
4-pin XLR jack on the bottom of
the belt pack. The headset connector is wired as shown.
