INTRODUCTION
An reXen technology is hybri between an IPBX an an IP Centrex architecture. Main part of
An reXen solution is in the core network – IP Centrex like – an a small evice is locate at the
customer premise an plays a critical role of ensuring quality, security an maintenance of the
solution: this evice is calle the An reXen router.

ACS ® Unified Co unication Edition Architecture :
utualized hosted servers in the core network and an on site physical router
•Core network ma e of m t alized high availability comm nication servers
•On each physical site, an AndreXen ro ter ensures security, quality, high availability an remote maintenance.
•An rexen Router supports : USB provisioning, Self-Diagnostic, SSL encryption, 5 links (IP, RNIS), seamless failover
algorithm & voice quality optimization
An reXen proposes ifferent kin of routers, so as to answer to specific client nee s:
-IP Phone Capacity per site
-Type of esign : rackable or not ?
- Type of back up : IP or Numeris

Every single An reXen router enjoys SSL encryption, provi ing a high level of security IP telephony.
This ocument escribes how to set up an An reXen router. Please refer to CMI ocumentation for
any other question regar ing the router (configuration) an An reXen solutions at large.
This ocument assumes following pre-requisites:
-An reXen router installe with SIP Phones certifie by An reXen
-De icate link available for voice
-Existing ata link of customer use as a back-up link

1. DEFAULT ROUTER CONFIGURATION
•Pre-req isites
Operational LAN (no Ethernet loop…)
Minimum LAN broa ban : 100mbits/s (computer cabling of category 5 et 100 T Basis
connectors)
Outgoing 40004 UDP port has to be opene (VPN)
Outgoing 123 UDP Port nee s to be allowe for access by router so as to iscuss with NTP
server
If more than 2 WAN at the client site, check that they’re not on the same subnet
Nee for a crossover cable
For further etails, please refer to An reXen pre-requisites
•Defa lt installation (DHCP by defa lt)
Plug e icate IP link to eth2/sis2
If ‘voice’ subnet has a static IP A ress, An reXen router IP a ress must be part of the same
subnet (for further details, please refer to CMI documentation)
Plug LAN to eth0/sis0 (switch for instance)
If LAN works with static IP a ress, An reXen router IP a ress must be part of the LAN (for
further details, please refer to CMI documentation)
Eth0 (or sis0) : plugge to client LAN (DHCP)
Access to phones an Internet connexion (back up/ ata)
Eth1 (or sis1) : phones autoconfiguration port. Please
note that you must use a crossover cable to auto-
provision phones
Eth2 (or sis2) : access to Internet (DHCP)– e icate link

2. AUTO-PROVISIONING : ‘PLUG’N TALK’
Plug’n Talk technology enables to plug an use a phone in a few minutes : take the phone out of his
box, enter its Mac a ress within CMI interface, assign the telephone to a user. Then, once you plug
the phone with a crossover cable on the An reXen router autoprovisioning port (eth1/sis1), the phone
will fin its configuration an set up alone in a few minutes.
a. Depen ing on the client size, you may choose ifferent means to autoprovision phones :
-Plug each phone to the router auto-provisioning port eth1/sis1 with a crossover cable
OR
-Use a switch (out of LAN) to gain time an auto-provision several evices at the same time :
Note that you nee to use a straight cable between switch an router
Note that you nee to use a straight cable between switch an evices
b. While connecte to the router/the switch, you must reboot the phone :
• Go to A ministration Menu of the telephone
•Use as a passwor either 0000 or 22222
•Reboot may often be calle ‘factory configuration’
c. Once the provisioning is one, (NR) or user name is isplaye on the phone screen.
. Plug the phone onto the LAN, swtch it off an on again : the phone is now rea y to be use
Remarks :
If the phone has been auto-provisione in the past, please reset the phone before auto-provisioning it
again

3. DIAGNOSIS
Each An reXen router comes with a web interface isplaying several kin of information an enabling
to o installation tests an etect potential troubles
This interface can be accesse from everywhere (client, integrator support …), provi e the computer
accessing it has an An reXen VPN management certificate
To access this web interface, enter the An reXen router IP a ress (either VPN address VPN
172.16.X.254, or the LAN one – for further etails, refer to CMI ocumentation) in a browser:

•Network diagnosis
Network diagnosis enables to know several kind of infor ation:
-Capacity of voice link . This can be useful to check that the link elivere at the client site is the
one that has been or ere
-Real ti e infor ation on voice traffic
To access this iagnosis, enter An reXen router IP a ress, followe by / iags/ :
« bp- own » an « bp-up » services provi e information on the link capacity both for uploa an
ownloa .
Remarks :
oplease note that this test nee s some capacity so be careful to run it while there are not
too many communications ongoing at the moment.
o« bp-stoptests » stops the ongoing test for link capacity
o« network.Bps » service isplays use ban wi th in real time an in octet/sec. This
enables you to see a potential overloa of your client link

Andrexen Proprietary Information Page 9 of 13
Woul you nee to know how many communications are been one at the same time, just ivi e by
10 the result isplaye in tunA or tunB : a communication in ee uses 10Ko/s (in case of no
compression).
o« network.bps » service isplays use ban wi th in real time an in bits/s
Woul you nee to know how many communications are been one at the same time, just ivi e by
80 the result isplaye in tunA or tunB : a communication in ee uses 80kbits/s (in case of no
compression).
• Temporary modification
In case you nee to temporarily mo ify the IP a ress of the router, enter the IP a ress ot the router
followe by “/mo ifs” in a url :
ex: 172.16.2.254/modifs/
•Network interfaces
By efault, Ethernet ports are in DHCP mo e. However you can temporarily mo ify this configuration
Choose the link you woul like to mo ify (eth0, eth1 or eth2) an fill in all fiel s since you choose the
Static mo e.
Warninf : when rebooting the An reXen router, all network service will get back to original
configuration. For tfurther etails, please refer to CMI ocumentation.

•Port redirections
This feature enables you to access a machine on the local network – printer, mo em or whatever
equipment to which you woul like to access so as to provi e support to your client.
•Update
Woul you like to change the configuration of the router, ownloa from CMI the « a xbox.conf »
configuration file an put it on a USB key.

Etc.
How to translate the flashs :
3 flashs: no configuration has been one on the router
5 flashs : invali configuration file
2 flashs: invali signature of configuration file
6 flashs : router faile to synchronize clock through NTP port
1 flash : Centrex can not be accesse through VPN
