Features
Thank you for purchasing PhotoChute3USB. The
PhotoChute3USB utilizes the latest advancement of the
PC/Mac industry's USB technology, bringing you convenient,
high-speed access to a variety of storage cards.
The PhotoChute3USB supports Type I, Type II ATA Flash,
Compact Flash and SmartMedia? cards.
The primary features of the PhotoChute3USB are:
High-Speed USB interface to storage cards
Up to 1.5 MB/sec.
USB port power supply that works without
additional power supply adapter
Hot-Swapping support for dynamic plug-in
/removal to/from USB port
Support for Windows 98, Windows 98 SE,
Mac OS8.5.1 and above.
In the package of the PhotoChute3USB you will find one
PhotoChute3USB device with its USB cable, one CD-ROM,
this manual and one Compact Flash adapter. Contact your
local dealer if the package of your PhotoChute3USB does
not contain everything as specified above.

Storage Card Slots
Your PhotoChute3USB supports a variety of storage cards
(see Features).
Three active LED indicators are used to display the
operation status of your PhotoChute3USB: green and red.
Care must be taken before insertion and removal of
storage cards.
RED: SmartMediaTM card is in
RED: ATA or
Compact Flash
card is in

Note:
Your PhotoChute3USB should not be connected onto the
USB port before Software Setup. Connection before
setting up the device driver will invoke Add New
Hardware Wizard of Windows 98 or Windows 98 SE.
The PhotoChute3USB can not be properly setup using the
Add New Hardware Wizard.

Using PhotoChute3USB
Refer to the following sections for more details of Software
Setup, Hardware Setup and Using PhotoChute3USB.
Before connecting PhotoChute3USB onto the USB port,
refer to the following instructions to install the device
driver for your PhotoChute3USB.
1. Insert the CD-ROMinto the CD-ROM drive.
2. Click Start, and then Run, the Run dialog box appears.
3. In the Open text box, type Setup.exe, selecting the
appropriate CD-ROM drive first (e.g., E:\Setup.exe).
Then click OK.
4. The self-extracting setup program will ask for your
confirmation. Click Yes to continue.
5. The W elcome dialog box appears. Click Next.
6. The PhotoChute3USB Setup program will complete the
installation for your computer.
After completing the device driver setup, refer to Hardware
Setup and install the PhotoChute3USB.

Hardware Setup
After completing the device driver setup for your
PhotoChute3USB, refer to following instructions to install
the PhotoChute3USB.
1. Connect the USB cable of your PhotoChute3USB unit
onto the available USB port of your computer.
2. Your computer will automatically recognize the
PhotoChute3USB and register new devices.
3. Two Removable Disk icons representing storage card
sockets will be added onto your computer.
4. The installation of your PhotoChute3USB is now complete.
After completing Software Setup and Hardware Setup, you
can now enjoy the use of your new PhotoChute3USB.
Please refer to the following instructions.
1. Insert your storage card.
2. Open My Computer or File Explorer.
3. Double click on the Removable Disk icon.
4. Explore images and files on your storage card.
Access images and files on your storage cards just as the
way you open, copy, move or delete images and files on
your hard disk drive.

Be careful not to extract or insert storage card while the
RED busy light is flashing.

Uninstall Sof tware
Should you feel necessary to remove software and driver
files of your PhotoChute3USB, please refer to the
following instructions and execute the uninstall program
to remove them.
1. Unplug the PhotoChute3USB from the USB port.
2. Click Start, and then click Programs.
3. On the pop-up menu, click on Uninstall PhotoChute3USB.
4. A dialog box appears and ask for your confirmation.
Click Yes to continue.
5. Software and driver files of your PhotoChute3USB will
be removed automatically without your intervention.
After removing software and driver files, you'll need to
perform Software Setup and Hardware Setup before using
your PhotoChute3USB again.

Description iMac Users
This is a user's manual for PhotoChute3USB. PhotoChute3USB
can be directly connected to the USB interface hub on the
Macintosh system to bring convenient, high speed access to
your flash memory cards (ATA, CompactFlash or SmartMedia
cards) on the Macintosh system.
System Requirements for
Operating System Software:
Mac OS 8.5.1 or above.
System Hardware:
iMac, Power PC G3 with USB
Control Adapter.
Please follow the steps below to install the driver software:
1. To install the driver software onto a Macintosh System; please
insert the driver software CD into your CD-ROM.
2. Open the driver CD icon on the desktop, Double click on the
installer application icon PhotoChute3USB. ARead Me
window will appear on the screen (see Fig. 1). Review it and
click the Continue button.

3. Also, you can see the same contents of Fig 1. in the text
file Installer Read Me in the driver CD.
4. The Installer Dialog box will appear (see Fig. 2).
Choose the proper installer item and click the button
Installtoinstallsoftware for your PhotoChute3USB.
5. Before copying the files to your system HD, a warning
dialog (see Fig. 3) will appear on the screen. It tells you
that you should quit all the applications running before
installation.
6. Click on the Continue button to start copying files. Click
on the Cancel button if you want to quit other
application first.
7. After the files finish copying, the restart dialog will
appear (see Fig. 4) on the screen. Click on the Restart
button to restart the system or click on the Quit button
to exit the installer.
8. The driver software for PhotoChute3USB won't
work until the system has rebooted.

9. Removing the software driver is easy: Repeat step 1
to 4. In the installer dialog, choose the item Uninstall in
the Pop-up Menu, then the installer dialog will appear
(see Fig. 5).
10. Click on the Uninstall button to remove the driver
files from your system HD. All driver files for
PhotoChute 3USB will be deleted.
After driver software installation and rebooting your
system, insert your PhotoChute3USB into the USB port on
your Macintosh machine. You are now ready to use your
PhotoChute3USB.

Using PhotoChute3USB on Macintosh
1. Displaying a disk icon on desktop:
After inserting your PhotoChute3USB into the USB
port on the Macintosh system, you just need to insert
your flash card into the proper slot on the
PhotoChute3USB. Then a disk icon will appear.
2. Accessing files (or folders) to the disk:
You can drag'n drop files (or folders) from (to the disk
just like you do to system HD or other Macintosh
storage devices.
3. Removing the disk from desktop:
Just as most Macintosh removable storage devices, you
should drag the disk icon to the trash box before you
remove the flash card from PhotoChute3USB or the
PhotoChute3USB from USB port.
4. Removing data from the disk:
Drag the file(s) or folder(s) icon from the disk to the trash
box. To remove the data permanently, click on Empty
Trash button in the S pecial item of the Apple Menu.
