Features of the Binoculars
TheAPMTelescopesAPObinocularsusehighqualityFPL-53 SD glassandsocalledBAK-4 prismsforhigh
contrastandsharpimagesacrosstheentirefield.Additionalspecial coatingsonallopticalsurfacesfurther
enhancetheimagequalityandensuretruetolifecolors.Thisallowsyoutoseethesmallestdetails.
TheAPMTelescopesAPObinocularshaveamagnesium housing.Itisoneofthelightestofallmetals.Despiteits
lowweight,itisverystableandcorrosionisnotpossible.
TheAPMTelescopesAPObinocularsarefilledwithharmlessnitrogengasduringmanufacture.Thispreventsthe
ingressofwater,thusmakingit water-resistant.Youdonothavetoworryifyourbinocularsgetwet.Ifitgetswet,
justletitdryathomeanditisreadyforuseagain.Bythewaythenitrogenprotects your binoculars against lens
fungus.
TheAPMTelescopesAPObinocularshave1¼" standard eyepiece receptaclessothattheeyepiecescanbe
changedanddifferent magnificationscanbeachieved.ThefocalpositionwaschosensuchthatTeleVueDelos,
Nagler,PanopticeyepiecesandtheDocter12.5mmUWAeyepiececanbefocused.

binoculars.
Thetripodlegshavesegments,soyoucanadjusttheheight of the tripodtoyourneedsineverysituation.
Features of the Center Mount
ThestablecentermountconnectsyourAPMTelescopesAPObinocularstothetripodviaa
standard 3/8" connector.Itallowsfreeandprecisehorizontal and vertical movements.
Assembly
Firstpullthetripodlegsoffbylooseningthelockingscrewsonthelegsandthecentercolumn(if
applicable)andlockingtheminasuitableheight.Thenpositionthelower,cylindricalpartofthe
centermountandscrewthetripod's3/8"screwintothethreadinthefootofthecentermount.
Afterwardsyoucaninserttheshaftintothelowerpart.Nowfitthebinocularstripodadapterat
thebottomofthebridgetothecentermountarmandtightenthescrew.Thenpushthetwo
suppliedeyepiecesintotheeyepiecereceptacles,clampthemfirmlywiththesmallerofthetwo
ringsatthereceptacle.Thensettheappropriateinterpupillarydistancebyusingtheflutedlevers
atthereceptaclesandpushtheeyepiecesapartortogetheruntiltheyareattherightdistance.The
distanceissetcorrectly,assoonasarelaxedviewthroughtheglassispossible.Thereafter,the
binocularsarepreparedforobservation.
Focusing
TheAPMTelescopesAPObinocularshaveasocalledsingleeyepiecefocussystem.Thisgives
youtheopportunitytosetthefocusindividuallyforeacheye.Allyouneedtodoistofocusone
eyepiecebyturningthefocusing ring,thatisthewiderofthetworings,untiltheimageissharp.
Repeattheprocedureforthesecondeyepiece.Whenyouperformtheoperationonamediumfar
object,moredistantonesareautomaticallysharp.Bytheway,differencesinthevisual
performanceoftheeyesareautomaticallycompensatedfor.Ofcourse,APMTelescopesAPO
binocularshaveadioptercompensation,thatallowsforindividualfocusingatinfinity.

The Eyepieces
ThebasicequipmentofAPMTelescopesAPObinocularsincludestwo18mmeyepieces,
whichresultinamagnificationof37fold.Eyepieceswithlongerfocallengthsresultinlower
suchwithshorterfocallengthinhighermagnifications.
Slidable Dew Shields
APMTelescopesAPObinocularspossesslidabledewshields.Pullthemoutduringobservations
topreventthelensesfromfoggingorstraylightfromfallinginfromtheside.
Lens and Eyepiece caps
Youshouldalwaysprotectyourobjectiveandeyepiecelenseswiththesuppliedprotectivecaps
againstdustandscratches.Removethemonlywhenobserving.
Carrying Handle with Sighting Device
TheAPMTelescopesAPObinocularshaveacarryinghandleintegratedinthebridgeforeasy
transport.Thecarryinghandleisalsodesignedasasightingdevice,sothatobjectscanbe
easilypositioned.Thetwothreadsaresuitabletoreceivethereddotfinder.
Care and Maintenance
Toomuchistoomuch:PleasecleanyourAPMTelescopesAPObinocularsonlyifitisvisiblysoiled.Firstremove
loosedustwithanopticalbrushorbellows.Thiswillavoidscratches.Afterthatyoushouldcleanthedirtylens
withadampeyeglasscleaningcloth,microfiberclothorcleaningswab.Pleasecleaninsideout.
