OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
ThisisthesafetyalertsymbolusedfortheOPERATINGINSTRUCTIONSsectionofthismanualtoalertyoutopotential
personalinjuryhazards.Obeyallinstructionstoavoidpossibleinjuryordeath.IMPORTANT:Beforeattemptingtoraiseany
vehicle,checkvehicleservicemanualforrecommendedliftingsurfaces.
OPERATION
1.Putvehicletransmissioninparkoringearandthenapplytheemergencybrake.
Toraiseload:Turnthehandleinaclockwisedirectionuntiltight.Positionthejackundertheload.Proceedtopumpthehandle
inordertoraisetheliftarmtotheload.Asthesaddleattheendoftheliftarmgetsclosertotheload,repositionthejacksothe
saddlewillcontacttheloadrmlyandtheloadiscenteredonthesaddle.Makesurethesaddleiscorrectlypositioned.Raisethe
loadtothedesiredworkheight.Placejackstandsofappropriatecapacityatthevehiclemanufacturers'srecommendedsupport
areasthatprovidestablesupportfortheraisedvehicle.DONOTCRAWLUNDERVEHICLEWHILELIFTINGVEHICLEORPLACING
ORREMOVINGTHEJACKSTANDS!Oncejackstandsarepositioned,turnthejackhandleVERYSLOWLYinacounterclockwise
directiontolowertheloadtorestonthejackstands.Inspecttherelationshipbetweenthejackstandsandloadtomakesurethesetup
isstableandsafe.Ifthesetupisnotstableorsafe,followtheprecedingstepsuntilcorrected.
2.Tolowerload:Followtheproceduresmentionedin"Toraiseload"sectionoftheOPERATINGINSTRUCTIONSinordertoraise
theloadoffthejackstands.Oncetheloadhasclearedthejackstands,removethejackstandsfromundertheloadandaway
fromtheworkarea.Turnhandleveryslowlyinacounterclockwisedirectionuntiltheloadiscompletelyloweredtotheground.
Oncethejack'sliftingsaddlehasclearedtheload,removethejackfromundertheload.CAUTION:Keephandsandfeetaway
fromthehingemechanismofthejack.
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
ThisisthesafetyalertsymbolusedforthePREVENTATIVEMAINTENANCEsectionofthismanualtoalertyoutopotential
personal injury hazards. Obey all instructions to avoid possible injury or death.
1.Alwaysstorethejackinawellprotectedareawhereitwillnotbeexposedtoinclementweather,corrosivevapors,abrasivedust,
oranyotherharmfulelements.Thejackmustbecleanedofwater,snow,sandorgritbeforeusing.
2.Thejackmustbelubricatedperiodicallyinordertopreventprematurewearingofparts.Ageneralpurposegreasemustbeappliedto
casterwheels,frontaxle,elevatorarm,handlebasepivotbolts,releasemechanismandallotherbearingsurfaces.Wornpartsresulting
frominadequateornolubricationarenoteligibleforwarrantyconsideration.
IMPORTANT:Inordertopreventsealdamageandjackfailure,neverusealcohol,hydraulicbrakeuid,ortransmissionoilinthe
jack.Usehydraulicjackoil,alightturbineoil,ChevronAWISO32orUnocalUnaxAW150.
3.Everyjackownerisresponsibleforkeepingthejacklabelscleanandreadable.Useamildsoapsolutiontowashexternal
surfacesofthejackbutnotanymovinghydrauliccomponents.
4.Inspectthejackbeforeeachuse.Donotusethejackifanycomponentiscracked,broken,bent,showssignofdamageorleaks
hydraulicuid.Donotusethejackifithaslooseormissinghardwareorcomponents,orismodiedinanyway.Takecorrectiveaction
beforeusingthejackagain.
HYDRAULIC MAINTENANCE GUIDE
IMPORTANT:Servicejacksaredesignedforliftingpurposesonly;alwayssupportraisedloadwithjackstands.
REGULAR MAINTENANCE
MONTHLYorasnecessary(dependingonusage)
1.Usingagreasegun,addgreasetogreasettingintheliftarmpivotshaft.(Useamulti-purposeNLGItypegreaseonly.)
2.Lubricatealllinkagesandpivotpoints.(Usewhitelithiumspraygreaseonly.)
3.Removehandle;lubricatehandlereceptacleandhandleend.(Usewhitelithiumspraygreaseonly.)
4.Lubricatebothrearcastersbearingsandbothfrontwheels.(Usewhitelithiumspraygreaseonly.)Tightenallaccessiblehardware.
PROPER STORAGE
Itisrecommendedthatthejackbestoredinadrylocationwithallwheelstouchingthegroundonarelativelylevelsurface.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Important:Servicejacksareself-containeddevicesusedforlifting,butnotsustaining,apartialvehicularload.Inaccordancewith
ASMEPALDLoadSustainingTest:“Aloadnotlessthantheratedcapacity…shallnotlowermorethan1/8"(3.18mm)intherstminute,
noratotalof.1875"(4.76mm)in10minutes.”LoweringwithinthisrangeisconsiderednormaloperationandisNOTawarrantabledefect.
Problem Action
1. Unit will not lift load. Purge air from hydraulic system by following procedure under SETUP.
2. Unit will not sustain load or feels “spongy” under load. Purge air from hydraulic system as above.
3. Unit will not lift to full height. Purge air from hydraulic system as above.
4. Handle tends to raise up while the unit is under load. Pump the handle rapidly several times to push oil past ball valves in
power unit.
