Dear Customer!
Please read this user manual carefully before using the ARPACK AirClean AC 40 device.
1. Intended purpose and recommendations on use
The device is intended for disinfection (bactericidal and virucidal activity) and air purification from volatile organic
compounds (odours) after their photocatalytic mineralisation on a nanocrystalline titanium dioxide affected by
UV radiation in the wavelength range A (365 nm).
The main types of volatile organic compounds removed by the product are as follows:
■bacteria, viruses, mould spores;
■hydrocarbons of a series of methane and ethylene;
■aldehydes, esters, ketones;
■aromatic hydrocarbons;
■herocyclic carcinogens;
■allergens;
■ozone and active forms of oxygen;
The device can be used at home, in medical facilities, schools and boarding schools, hotels and apothecaries,
offices, service rooms, production and warehousing facilities with a recommended surface area of no more than
28 m2. The product is most efficient in enclosed, poorly ventilated spaces with high microbiological
contamination, e.g.:
•Resuscitation and bedridden units;
•Laboratories with operational microbiological facilities;
•Spaces with large amounts of plastics, household chemical agents and objects
emitting phenol and formaldehyde (e.g. furniture made from particle board).
The device can be used in the presence of people, animals and plants, and is intended for continuous operation.

4.1 Use
Use as intended
The ARPACK AirClean AC 40 air purification device is a ventilation and air-conditioning device that can
neutralise viruses, germs, bacteria, spores and micro-fibres (e.g. paper and textile) as well as unpleasant
odours.
This allows the device to shorten the presence and lessen the concentration of the aerosol and suspension
cloud in the room in which the device is installed.
The AirClean AC 40 air purification device is intended for filtering or purification of normal air in rooms. The
device is intended for internal installation in frost-resistant rooms. It is mainly intended for air purification in

7 Functionality / Operation
7.1 Functionality
The device’s functionality is based on the
photocatalytic oxidation of volatile organic
compounds on the surface of nanocrystalline
titanium dioxide affected by UV-A radiation. The
contaminated air reaches the photocatalytic
treatment area through convective air flow or air
streams that are generated by the heat released
from the UV-A diodes (Fig. 2). The pollutants,
bacteria and viruses are absorbed from the
surfaces of photocatalytic elements and are mainly
mineralised into carbon dioxide and water vapours
due to the UV-A diodes’ light.

7.2 Operation
It is necessary to select the device’s installation location. The location may include a floor, shelf, table or
other adequate structure. The device should not constitute a hindrance and should be protected against
overturning.
7.2.1 Stand
Mount the stand on the device using the adequate screws (Fig. 3). Prior to first start-up, make sure that the
device is heated up to the room temperature and that no condensation occurs. Pay attention to the
following aspects when starting up the device:
•The device is supplied with the mains voltage of 220V/50Hz.
•The device’s working position is the vertical position.
•The device’s ventilation openings are always open (Fig. 3).
•The device is started up by pressing the switch.
•The device is heated up and enters the operating mode after approx. 20 minutes from start-up.
7.3 Equipment and operating specification
The device’s housing is made from steel sheets and is powder coated.
The device’s lower part features a lever switch and a replaceable fuse. The housing’s interior features a flat
photocatalytic element based on porous quartz glass and a LED-UV-A emitter with a power feeder.
The device’s operation is silent and the device does not require regular replacement of the photocatalytic
elements, because they are not contaminated with dust particles during operation.

7.4 Preparation for operation and exploitation
Recommended procedure for floor stand fixing:
•Place the device
with its front side downwards
on a horizontal
surface (Fig. 3).
•Mount the
stand to
the housing using
the M3 screws.

7.5 Maintenance and maintenance intervals
It is recommended to wipe the device’s outer surface regularly with a moist cloth. For
disinfection, it is possible to use a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution with 0.5% synthetic detergent
or 1% chloramine solution.
During longer breaks in operation, the device must be placed in a location with minimum
exposure to dust; prevent permeation of dust through the ventilation openings.
Only qualified personnel can perform the device’s maintenance.
Do not use acetone or liquids with acetone to wipe the device.
13 | ARPACK GmbH
It is forbidden to spray the device with aerosol for “testing” purposes.
This leads to shock concentrations of organic pollutants. The regeneration and resumption
of normal photo catalyser operation can take up to several days.
Connect the power cable to a domestic socket 230 V and 50 Hz. Start up the product using the lever switch (Fig.
4).
During start-up, the housing’s top rectangle opening will feature a light-blue lamp that signals the activation of
the UV-A LED emitter.
The device is heated up and enters the operating mode after approx. 20 minutes from start-up.
The continuous mode is the recommended operation mode.
The product is stopped using the lever switch. If a longer standstill period is planned, it is recommended to
disconnect the power cable from the socket. The continuous mode is the recommended operation mode.
The product is stopped using the lever switch. If a longer standstill period is planned, it is recommended to
disconnect the power cable from the socket.

9Warranty
The product is covered by a 24-month warranty from the date of purchase.
The manufacturer is not liable for the product’s failure in the following cases:
•Incorrect storage, operation and transport by the owner
•Failure to comply with the operation regulations
•The device is repaired by companies explicitly not authorised by the manufacturer
•Using the device in mains with voltage fluctuations exceeding the normal values
•In case of defects that can derive from incorrect or intentional actions
•In case of defects resulting from structural changes
•In case of the device’s failure due to force majeure events
•In case of damage caused by penetration of foreign bodies or liquids
•In case of mechanical damage
10 Storage
In case of devices packaged in film, we recommend removing the film immediately after delivery. The film
only constitutes transport packaging for short-term device protection. The film is not suitable for long-term
device storage, because films usually favour the formation of condensate and thereby corrosion. If the device
is not installed immediately after delivery, it is necessary to store it in a dry room resistant to atmospheric
conditions, protect it (with suitable packaging) and place it on an even, horizontal surface keeping the stand
safe. It is especially important to prevent damage and negative impact caused by weather conditions
(moisture, temperature, dust, dirtying) and external factors (impact, animals, rodents). The device’s openings
must be tightly sealed.
