1. GENERAL INFORMATION

2. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

electrical safety regulations should be followed when operating.

Photocatalytic air purifier «Ambilife» (hereinafter to be referred to as “the Device”)
is produced by the Limited Liability Company “Scientific-Medical Firm «Ambilife «Lipetsk,
Russian Federation.
The method of disinfection and purification of air is based on the photocatalysis princi-
ple, which belongs to the field of the nanotechnology, has been developed by the
Institute of Catalysis of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences
(Novosibirsk city). The essence of this method consists in the destruction of pathogenic
microorganisms and photo-catalytic oxidation of the organic gaseous air pollutants on
the photo-catalytic surface under the effect of the ultraviolet irradiation of the soft band
«A» (with the wavelength of 320 to 400 nm). Band «A» irradiation does not represent the
source of ozone emission.
The technology of decontamination and purification of air, which is based on the
photocatalysis principle, can be explained as follows: the air under the action of the fan
comes to the dust filter, where it is cleaned from the dust, after that the air is delivered to
the photo-catalytic filter, which represents porous carrier with a photo-catalyst applied to
it, irradiated by the UV radiation source.
At the first stage of air purification the catalyst contained in the photo-catalytic filter
under the UV irradiation forms active radicals, which ensure neutralization of all harmful
substances that represent organic gaseous compounds. The same radicals at the
second stage of air purification produce hydrogen peroxide molecules, which are known
to everyone for their high antiseptic action.
Hydroxide radicals (OH) and hydrogen peroxide (H202) are characterized by the
strong oxidizing properties and by interacting with bacteria and viruses they deactivate
them. This feature allows to ensure high molecular protection level against the patho-
genic microorganisms. Molecular level, at which our photo-catalytic filter purifies the air,
is at present considered as the highest level of the modern science.
Bactericidal photo-catalysis effect differs from the direct UV radiation on the micro-
organisms, because it ensures neutralization of microorganisms, which are resistant to
UV radiation, such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, mold spores or fungi.
