1. Intended use and usage recommendations
The device’s primary purpose is disinfection (bactericidal, virucidal treatment) and purification of air
from volatile organic compounds after their photocatalytic mineralization on nanocrystalline titanium
dioxide under the action of UV radiation in the A range (365 nm).
The main types of volatile organic compounds removed by the product include:
▪Bacteria, viruses and mould spores;
Hydrocarbons of the methane and ethylene series;
aldehydes, ethers, ketones;
▪Aromatic hydrocarbons;
▪heterocyclic carcinogens;
▪Most allergens;
▪Ozone and reactive oxygen species
The device is intended for domestic use as well as use within medical institutions,schools and boarding
schools, hotels and pharmacies, offices, technical rooms, production and storage facilities with a
recommended area of 30 m² to 40m². Maximum efficiency is achieved when the device is utilised in
closed, poorly ventilated rooms with high microbiological contamination, e.g.:
•Resuscitation wards and wards with bedridden patients;
•Microbiology laboratories;
•Rooms with a large amount of plastics, household chemicals and items that emit phenol and
formaldehyde (e.g. particle board furniture).
The device is perfectly safe be used in the presence of people, animals and plants and is designed for
non-stop operation.

7 Function / Operation
7.1 Intended function and and main purpose of the device
The device is based on the photocatalytic
oxidation of volatile organic compounds on the
surface of nanocrystalline titanium dioxide
under the influence of soft UV-A (365nm) radiation.
It is designed to provide molecular purification and
reduction of microbial contamination
in the air of medical facilities and public spaces.
The device is capable of remove contaminants harmful
to humans.
These include:
- viruses, bacteria, mold spores;
- hydrocarbons (e.g. methane and ethylene);
- aldehydes, esters and ketones;
- Aromatic hydrocarbons;
- Heterocyclic carcinogens;
- substances that cause allergies ;
-Ozone
These are absorbed on the surface of the
photocatalytic elements and mineralised
to form mainly carbon dioxide and water
vapour under the influence of the light from
UV-A LEDs.

7.2 Operation
The device is portable thanks to its compact design. Select the place of installation for the device on a
stable floor, table, cabinet or similarly stable support. The device can be placed in the immediate
vicinity of you and other people, in the middle of the room or directly against the wall. The device
should not stand in the way / walkways so as to be protected against being involuntarily tipped over.
Before changing its location, the device must be switched off with the main switch and the mains plug
must be disconnected from the mains socket.
Operating Conditions
Normal Operating Conditions:
- ambient temperature 20C±°5°C
- relative humidity 65%±15%
Acceptable Operating Conditions:
- ambient temperature of 10C°to 35°C
- relative humidity up to 95%
Storage conditions (upper and lower limits):
- ambient temperature of -30C° to 60°C
The average service life of the device is at least 10 years.
7.2.1 First time start-up
Before switching on the device for the first time, ensure that it has warmed up to room temperature
and that there is no visible condensation. When switching on, note the following:
7.3 ECO –Mode
The ARPACK AirClean AC 30 has an Eco mode (see Figure 2), this uses less energy than normal
continuous operation. To achieve this, the AC 30 automatically switches between the collection
phase and the “cold” combustion phase.
For use only in rooms with a low expected load (few people and animals).
•The device is operated with a mains voltage of 220V/50Hz.
•The working position of the device is vertical.
•The ventilation openings of the device should always remain unobstructed
(Figure 1).
•The device will require approximately 20 minutes to warm up to operating
temperature after being switched on.

13 I ARPACK GmbH
7.4 Induction Field
The ARPACK AirClean AC 30 is equipped with an additional induction field wireless phone charger
(Figure 4).
To do switch this function on, simply turn on the device at the main switch (Figure 2).
The AC 30 will charge your mobile phone concurrently with other operations.
(Figure 6).
Before using the induction field, please check
with your mobile phone manufacturer
whether your device has a wireless induction
charging function.
Mobile phone "covers" can restrict the
induction charging Induction charging
capability.
Figure 6
7.5 Preparing for Utilisation and Operation
Plug the power cord into a regular 230V, 50Hz household outlet.
Switch on the main switch, followed by the power button on the back of the device.
The controls are located on the back of the device. The fan starts up slowly.
The device will require approximately 20 minutes to warm up to operating temperature after being
switched on. We recommended letting the device operate continuously.
The ARPACK AirClean AC 30 is switched off with the power button on the back. If the device is to be
left idle for a long period of time, it is recommended to unplug the power cord from the outlet.
It is forbidden to spray the device with aerosols for "test" purposes.
This leads to spiking “shock” concentrations of organic pollutants. It can take up to several
days for the photocatalyst to regenerate and resume normal operation.

14 I ARPACK GmbH
7.6 Care and Maintenance Intervals
It is recommended to periodically wipe the external surface of the device with a damp cloth.
A 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide with the addition of 0.5% synthetic
detergent or 1% chloramine solution can be used for disinfection.
Following longer periods of non-operation, the device must be set up in places with a minimum of
dust exposure and the air intake must not be obstructed. The maintenance of the device is only to be
carried out by qualified personnel.
Never use acetone or liquids containing acetone to wipe down the device.
7.6.1 Simple pre-filter cleaning / replacement
The AC 30 uses 2 high-quality grade F7 “pre-filters" made of fiberglass. We recommend checking,
cleaning or, if necessary, replacing them at regular intervals.
To open the maintenance flap, connect the device to the mains plug and socket.
A "click" sound can be heard, that is the maintenance flap being unlocked.
Do not put the device into operating mode while the maintenance flap is open.
Open the maintenance flap and pull out the red round clamps.
Round Clamp

15 I ARPACK GmbH
The pre-filters can both be removed.
Both pre-filters can be cleaned with a
vacuum cleaner or with water
(detergent-free).
If the pre-filters should get too dirty,to the point of being uncleanable replace both with new pre-
filters.
If the filter structure is damaged, a new pre-filter is required!
Only use filters manufactured by Arpack GmbH!
When inserting the pre-filter, ensure that its titanium dioxide coated fiberglass surfaces are not
damaged.

Reinsert the clamping rings to lock the filters in place.
Close the maintenance flap. The device can now be operated safely again.

The product guarantee is active for a period of 24 months from the date of sale.
The manufacturer does not grant any warranty claims in the following cases:
•Improper storage, handling and transportation by the owner
•Failure to comply with operating instructions
•Repair of the device by companies not expressly authorised by the manufacturer
•Exploitation of the device in a power supply system with voltage fluctuations that are above
normal values
•In the case where defects can be traced back to erroneous or intentional actions
•In the event of a defect resulting from alterations to the design
•If the device fails due to force majeure
•In the event of damage caused by the ingress of foreign bodies or liquids
•In case of mechanical damage
10 Storage
For devices that are packed in foil or wrapping, we recommend removing this foil/wrapping
immediately after delivery. The foil/wrapping is purely a transport packaging for the short-term
protection of the devices. The foil/wrapping is not suitable for long-term storage of the devices, as it
generally promote the formation of condensation and thus corrosion. If the device is not installed
immediately after delivery, the devices must be stored dry, protected from the weather and (e.g. by
suitable packaging) on a level, horizontal surface with a secure footing. It is particularly important to
ensure that damage and impairments caused by the weather (humidity, temperature, dust, dirt) and
external influences (shocks, blows, animals, vermin) are prevented. Existing device openings (air
intake, outlet etc.) must be sealed tightly.
