About the Overhauling instructions
The aim of the instructions is to provide you with knowledge of how to make basic
overhauling of the hydraulic cut-off saws LS 14 and LS 16.
Only qualified and trained persons may operate or maintain the cut-off saws. Use
only authorized parts. Any damage or malfunction caused by unauthorized parts
will not be covered by the Warranty or Product Liability.
For major service to the saws, contact your nearest authorized Atlas Copco
workshop.
Safety instructions and technical
specifications
Please consult the "Spare parts list" and the "Safety and operating instructions"
for the LS 14 and LS 16 cut-off saws regarding safety instructions and technical
specifications.

Overhauling instructions
Disassembly - assembly
1. Cut-off saw
2. Required overhauling tools
3. Disassembly: Unscrew the counter nut to
remove the washer, and unscrew the insex
screw to remove the adapter (if necessary by
using a wheel puller). Be aware of the
parallel key. Assembly: Use the reverse order
4. Disassembly: Unscrew the two insex screws
and remove the guard retainer. Assembly:
Mount the guard retainer and the two screws.
IMPORTANT: The screw with the hole (for
water flushing) has to be mounted at the top
5. Disassembly: Remove the two screws and
the guard retainer. Remove the guard and
the two nylon washers placed between the
motor flange and the guard. Assembly: Mount
the two nylon washers on the motor flange.
Place the guard and mount the guard retainer
with the two screws. IMPORTANT: The screw
with the hole (for water flushing) has to be
mounted at the top

6. Disassembly: Remove the front handle and
the brake shoe by unscrewing the upper
screw and the clamp screw. Inside the frame
a fastening plate will drop out (see picture 7)
7. Assembly: Mount the fastening plate with two
temporary screws (the second screw with a
temporary nut - see picture 8)
8. Disassembly: Unscrew the lower part of
the front handle through the frame by using
an insex key. Keep the screw in place and
mount a temporary nut M8 to keep the screw
in place. By replacement make sure that the
screw does not drop into the frame

10. Disassembly: Unscrew the four banjo bolts
to remove the two banjo elbows.
Assembly: Secure the placing of the two
O-rings at each banjo bolt by using grease.
Mount all four banjo bolts before tightening
11. Four banjo bolts, two banjo elbows and
eight O-rings. Grease the banjo elbows
before assembly
12. Disassembly: Unscrew the two screws at
the motor flange
13. The hydraulic motor with screws, washer,
nuts and the parallel key
14. Disassembly. Unscrew the two insex
screws to dismantle the grip complete

16. Disassembly: Remove the trigger complete
by pressing a screwdriver to loosen the
circlip. Assembly: Place the trigger in the
valve block and lock with the circlip
17. Disassembly: Remove the trigger complete
and the spring for trigger valve. Assembly:
Place the trigger complete in the valve
block
18. Trigger valve complete (main parts)
19. Disassembly: Unscrew the insex screw in
order to be able to remove the water valve.
Assembly: Place the water valve and the
O-ring in the valve block. Lock the water
valve with the insex screw

21. Disassembly: Unscrew the six insex
bushings to separate the valve block from
the frame. Assembly: Mount the six
insex bushings and three inside screws to
mount the valve block and frame (max.
torque = 20 Nm, as they are easy to
overtighten)
22. Disassembly: Remove the valve block from
the frame. Assembly: Place three O-rings
and grease in the valve block or grease the
tube ends to ensure easy fit of tubes.
Make sure that the three tubes are placed
correctly
23. Disassembly: Remove the check valve
from the valve block (where the banjo
elbow is mounted). Assembly: Place the
check valve, where the banjo elbow is
mounted, with the smallest diameter of the
check valve at the lowest position
