Reinstall Battery Door
Reinstalling the battery door is much easier
and will make a better seal if you carefully
remove the tiny rubber ball that makes up
the overpressure relief in the battery door-
its locations is visible inside the battery
door as a raised circular boss with a hole in
the middle. If this ball is not removed there
is a tendency for pressure to push the O-
ring off the sealing flange, possibly causing
a leak.!You can push the ball out from the
inside of the door with a paper clip or
something similar. Be careful to catch it
on the other side- it can pop out
suddenly and fly away!!
Press the door back over the O-ring and
fasten the screws. If the factory sealant is
still covering the opening for the ball it
might be very difficult to press the door
down- id so, scrape some of the sealant
away to allow for air passage. You should
get a small rush of air from the opening as
you press the battery door down. After the
door is sealed on the O-ring and the
screws are back in place press the rubber
ball back into the small opening from the
outside. Use a small dab of silicone sealant
(silicone glue or caulking) before inserting
the ball to help seal it in. The hex key or
T-9 driver is just the right size for pressing it solidly home.!!
Important note on restarting a Cobalt with a depleted battery:
If the battery is completely dead, use the AC charger to reset the computer, not USB. USB will
charge the battery, but won't generate a reset pulse.!If you only have access to USB, you can use
that to charge the battery, but will need to remove and reinstall the battery to restart the program
as soon as there is sufficient charge in the battery to run the Cobalt (which should take just a few
minutes). The USB can then be used to recharge the computer normally. !
