Placement and connection
Warning!PleasereadthismanualpriortooperatingtheMAPinorder toavoid

Also, pleasemakesure all unitsofyouraudio/videosystemare switchedoff while
connectingordisconnectinganycablestoavoiddamageoftheinputand/oroutput
sections ofyourunits.
Pleasemakesure thatyourAudionetMAPisinstalledataplace thatissufficiently
ventilated to allowtheheatto leave.
Themains input23*) islocatedatthebackpaneloftheMAP.Pleaseusetheprovided
power cordtoconnecttheMAPtomains. Ifyou wanttouseadifferentpower cord
makesure thatit meets thespecifications foryourhomecountry.
WARNING:
Theelectricalspecificationsatthebackmustmeet thespecificationsofyourhome
country.
Themainsswitchatthebackpanelhas tobeswitchedoff before connectingthe
MAPtomains. TheMAPisaClass Idevice and mustbeearthed.Pleaseensure a
stableearthconnection. 'Phase'/'Hotpin'is markedatthebackpanel(phase)23.
TheMAPisastand bydevice.Pleaseusethemains switch23atthebackpanelto
switchon theMAP.After ashorttimethedisplayreads 'AUDIONET'toshowthatthe
unit is in stand bymode.
Onlyincaseofextendedabsence (likevacations)orifmassivetroubleon mains power
istobeexpectedyou shoulddisconnecttheunit frommains. Switchoff theMAPwith
themains switch attheback panel23. Thedisplaywill go out.
WARNING:
Before switchingoff themainsswitchoftheMAP,pleasemakesure thatall units
connectedto theoutputs oftheMAPare switchedoff, too.
Additional earth connection
Optionally,there isaspecialcordavailableforanadditionalearthconnection tobeused
withearthconnector21.Usethescrewofearthconnector21toconnecttheadditional
ground cordtotheMAP.Puttheplugoftheground cordintoamains socketnear your
power cord. Thesound will beimproved.
Westrongly recommend using theadditionalearthconnection!

Inconnection withother AudionetdeviceslikeAMPI,AMPII,AMPII MAX,AMP
III,AMPIV,AMPVII etc.yourMAPisabletoswitchon/off thecompletesystem.
PleaseconnectaToslink plasticfibre cablefromtheAudionet-Link Output20atthe
backoftheMAPtotheAudionet-Link inputsofother Audionetdevices. Forfurther
instructions pleaseread theuser's manualoftheother Audionetdevices.
Polarisation of mains plug
Thecorrectpolarizingofmains is importantforreasons ofaudio clarityand stability.
Therefore theAudionetMAPindicatesawrongpolarisation ofthemains lead. While
poweringup, theMAPchecks themains polarisation. Ifyou read'Attention:
Mains Phase incorrect!'switchoff theMAPand then flip theplugin yourwall
outlet.
Connecting the external powersupplyEPS
UsetheprovidedspecialcordtoconnecttheoptionallyavailableEPS totheEPS-Input
22atthebackpaneloftheMAP.Connect both (!!) units(MAPand EPS)withmains.
Switch on first theEPS then theMAP. Theunit is nowin stand bymode.
To disconnectbothunitsfrommains pleaseswitchoff first theMAP,thentheEPS.
Before switchingoff theMAP,makesure it isinstand bymodebypressingthe power
keyatthefrontpanelorthekey on theremotecontrol.
Audio/Video-Connections
Analog Inputs:
Connect2-channelanalogsourcestooneofthe6analoginputs16.Ifyou are usinga
recordingdevice (tapedeck, MDrecorder,VCR etc),connectit to IN 5 15.Thesignal
on thisinputisnotroutedthroughtothe RECOUT output17inorder toprevent
feedbackloops. Analoginput IN 4 is setup forDolby*Pro LogicIIxdecodingbydefault
(theuser canchangethatinthesetup menu!).Sopleaseconnecttheanalog2-channel
outputsofyourDVD-Player,LaserDisc-Player,VCR orother analogsources, that
playback DolbySurround coded material, to input IN 4.
Ifyou havetheoptionalphono cardinstalled, plugintheMM-orMCpickup ofyour
turntableintoinput IN 6 14and connectthechassisoftheturntabletotheground
screw gnd 13.Thephono cardoffersindependentselection ofgain, inputcapacityand

inputresistance foroptimaladjustmentstoall kinds ofavailablepickup systems. For
further details pleaserefer to theuser's manualofthephono card.
DigitalInputs:
Connectyourdigitalsourcestodigitalinputs1to510.Byfactorydefault digitalinputs
2,3 and 5are setup formulti channeldecoding(DolbyDigitaland DTS**). Digitalinputs
1and 4are setup forstereoPCMsignals(all default settingcanbechangedbytheuser
inthesetup menus!).Ifyou havetheoptionalRF-Demodulatorcardinstalled, connect
the'RFAC-3'outputofyourLaserDisc-Player to digitalinput4 9.
Note: Donotforgettosettheoption 'Set RF-Demod.'to'available'inthe
"GlobalSetup" menu. You also haveto removethebluejumper on theinputPCB.
Inorder tosend DVD-Audiomusicdataacross theHighBit interface fromtheDVD
player AudionetVIP1) totheMAPV2.0, connectdigitaloutput1oftheVIPwithdigital
input DIGITALIN2 oftheMAP.Furthermore,you needasecond connection running
fromdigitaloutput2oftheVIPtodigitalinput DIGITALIN3 oftheMAPV2.0. Only
incaseof both connections are setup and theswitchfortheinterface modeon theback
paneloftheVIPissetto h-bit (refer toowner'smanualofVIP),it ispossibletoreceive
and decodeDVD-Audio datawith theMAP.
Note: Dataon theAudionetHighBit interface will berecognizedand decoded
automaticallybytheMAP.Ifthesecond dataconnection ismissingtheMAPwill issue
theerrormessage:'HighBit Cable 2Out of lock'.Pleasecheckthecorrect
setup and connection ofboth cables fromVIPto MAP.
External8-ChannelAnalog Inputs:
Pluginanalogmulti channelsources(externaldecoder,DVD-Player withinternal
decoder, SACD-Player etc.)into the8-channelanaloginput11oftheMAP.
Note: TheExternal8-ChannelAnalogInputhasno signalprocessingatall,onlypure
analogvolumecontrol!
Analog Outputs:
TheoutputofthefrontchannelsL/R 19(Cinchand XLR)are marked mainlineout or
mainright/mainleft and are locatedinthelower leftpartofthebackpanel.All other
analogoutputs12are locatedin thesection ANALOG OUTPUTS in theupper rightpart
ofthebackpanel.ForCenter and Subwoofer channelare twooutputsavailableeach
carryingthesamesignal.
DigitalOutputs:
Select DigiRec Select inthesetup menu, whichdigitalinput2to510isroutedtothe
digitaloutputs8.Bothformats(opticaland coaxial)are alwaysavailable.Thedigital
recordselectworks independently,therefore you canusedigitaloutforrecordingwhile
listeningto adifferentsource.

Video Inputs:
Pluginyourcinch/compositevideosourcesintovideoinputs IN 1 to IN 4 3.S-Video
sourcesare tobeconnectedtovideoinputs S-VIDEO 1 to S-VIDEO 4 4.Usethevideo
inputsinanyorder aseveryoneofthe8videoinputscanbeassignedtoeveryaudio
input(see menu 'ChannelSetup').Evenmultipleassignmentsare allowed, i.e.oneand
thesamevideo inputcan beassigned to more than oneaudio input.
Video Outputs:
Thevideosignalassignedtothecurrentaudioinputisavailableatthe VIDEO OUT
jacks;cinchvideoat OUT 1 or OUT 2 7and S-Videoat S-VIDEO 1 or S-VIDEO 2 6.
All videosignalsatthecinchvideoinputsare convertedtoS-Videoformatbythe
internal'CinchVideotoS-VideoConverter'and availableattheoutput S-VIDEO 1.
TheOnScreenDisplays(OSD) isonlyavailableatvideooutputs OUT 1 and S-
VIDEO 1 5.Inorder topreventunintentionalrecordingoftheOSDpicture,please
connectyourvideorecordingdevice tovideooutputs OUT 2 or S-VIDEO 2 asthey
never carrytheOSDsignal.
Further Video In-/Outputs:
Avideosignalatvideooutput VGA OUT 1isonlyavailable,ifyou haveinstalledthe
optionalProgressiveScanCard. WithoutProgressiveScanCardvideo inputs Y/R, Cr/G
and Cb/B 2are decoupledfromthecorrespondingoutputsby0dB-gainvideo
amplifiers. ConnectyourDVD-Player and projectorto thecorrespondingin-/outputs.
Note: Pleaserefer tochapter 'Progressive ScanCard' fordetailedinformation about
connection and configuration oftheoptionalProgressiveScan Card.
FirstSteps
Thefollowingprovidesashortoverviewofthefirststeps and theirorder tosetup the
MAP.Foranydetaileddescription pleaserefer tothesections 'Usagefrontpanel' and
'Remotecontrol'.
After connectingyourMAPV2.0 to theother components ofyourHifiorHomeCinema
system(refer tosection 'Audio/Videoconnections'),somesetup options havetobe
configured. YourMAPneeds information aboutthenumber ofspeakers, theirdistances
fromthelisteningposition and sensitivitytoworkwithoptimumperformance.The
setup procedure is quiteeasyifyou stick to thefollowingorder:
1. Number and size ofspeakers:Usekey Bass Manager
(refer to chapters 'Remotecontrol' and 'Preferences /Setup')
Selectwhatkind ofspeakersyou are using.'Large'referstospeakersthatare
capableofreproducingthecompletebass domaindowntothelowestfrequencies.
Usesetting'Small'forbookshelf-typespeakersorsmall sizeddesignspeakersthat
are notcapableto produce arich bass foundation dueto theirconstruction. According

tothesesettingstheMAPdeterminesautomaticallytheamountofbass information
thatissenttoeachspeaker.Duetothedifferentcalculatingoperations thatare
neededforthisbass management,theperceivedvolumelevelmayvarybetween
differentsettings.
2. Distance ofspeakers to thelistening position:Usekey Delay Manager
(refer to chapters 'Remotecontrol' and 'Preferences /Setup')
Measure thedistance ofeachspeaker toyourlisteningposition and enter thenumber
intotheDelayManager.YourMAPautomaticallycalculatesthenecessarydelayof
eachchannelso thatthemusicsignalsarriveattheexactsametimeatyourlistening
position. Asthedelaysettingsare calculatedand setup inrealtime,themusicsignal
maybeinfluenced fortheshortmomentofsettingthenewvalue.
3. Levelsetup:Usekey TestTone
(refer to chapter 'Remotecontrol', section 'Keys for levelsetup')
Thenoisesignalwill supportyou todeterminethecorrectlevelofeachspeaker,so
all perceivedvolumesare thesame. This setup is necessaryas differentspeakers have
differentsensitivitiescausingdifferentperceivedvolumesthoughtheinputsignalhas
thesamelevel.
Note: After adjustingthevolumelevelsofall speaker channelswerecommend tosave
thesesettingstoall inputchannelsasasimplestartup forfurther channelorsource
dependentlevelsettings. To savethecurrentlevelsettingstoall inputchannel,press the
followingkeys on theremotecontrol: Save Setting àà
Nowall inputchannelshavethesamevolumelevelsettings. Of course,you canchange
thesesettingseasilyforeachinputchannelindependentlyifnecessary.After these3
steps themostimportantglobalsettings are done.
Followingtheglobalsetup there are lotsofoptions thatare validforeachinputchannel
separately.Theselocalsettingsare necessarytomeetall thedemands ofdifferentsource
unitsconnectedtotheMAP'sinputs. Pleaserefer tosection 'Preferences/Setup',
subsection 'ChannelSetup' forfurther details.

Usage front panel
There are 4keysatthefrontpaneltocontroltheMAP.Althoughmostofthesetup can
bedoneusingthosekeys, theincludedremotecontrolprovidesmuchmore comfort
(refer to sections 'Remote control' and 'Preferences /Setup').
The power keyisusedtoswitchon/off theMAP.To changevolumeoranysettingsin
thesetup menus, pleasepress the up and down keys. Withthe set keyyou skipthrough
themenu itemsofthesetup menus. Ifyou press and holdthe set keyformore than2
seconds, it will getyou to thenextsetup menu.

Remote control
All functions canbecontrolledbytheincludedremotecontrol.Fordetailedinformation
aboutusageand programmingoftheremotecontrolpleaserefer toitsseparatemanual.
All keyson theremotecontrolrelevantforusingtheMAPare describedinthe
following.
WhileinRUN modepleaseusekey toincreasevolume.Usekey todecrease
volume.WhileinRUN modeuse and keystoskipforwardand backward
through theinputchannels. Fordirectaccess ofinputs see below.
Press keytotogglemuting.Mutingand de-mutingisdonesoftly,i.e.volumewill
decrease/increaseslowly.
Note:Thesekeys are also availablewhilebeingin themain menu oftheremotecontrol!
Press key on theremotecontroltogetintothemainmenu. Onthetouchscreenyou
will find akeynamed MAP.All keysrelevantwhilelistening,you will find on screen
pages1to4. Ifyou wanttochangeanysetup options, usekeyson page5. To change
anysettingofthedigitalequalizer, pleaserefer to page6.
Note: Whilebeinginthedevice menu MAPoftheremotecontrol,usethearrowkeys
and on thebottomofthetouchscreentoskipthroughthescreenpages. The
firstnumber displayedbetweenthearrowkeysisthenumber ofthecurrentscreenpage,
thesecond number shows thetotalnumber ofpages available: .
Navigate throughamenu:
Thedevice menu 'MAP' consistsof6screenpagescontainingmenu and controlkeys.
Pressingoneofthemenu keyswill enter thecorrespondingmenu option. To navigate
throughthemenu items, usekeys and . Key hasthesamefunction asthe
set keyatthefrontpanel. To selectan option, use and keys. works likethe
up keyatthefrontpanel, works likethe down key.There are three waystoleavea
menu:
1. Press thesamemenu keyagain to getback to RUN mode.
2. Press anyoftheother menu keys to enter anewmode.
3. Wait forapprox.12 seconds. After thistimeMAPgetsbacktoRUN mode
automatically.

Filter.30 memorylocations forstoringuser settingsare availabletotheuser.Theuser
canassignanameofup to14 charactersinlengthtoeachuser setting.Additionally,
eachofthe16 inputchannelssavesautomaticallyall currentsettingsindependently.The
30 memorylocations canonlybeaccessedbytheuser whenusingthe'Save
Setting'function. So theyare independentfromthechannelsettings.
Note:Currentmaster volume,speaker settings, stateofinternaldecoder,videooptions
etc.are savedautomaticallyand independentlychangingasettingand/orswitchingoff
theMAP.

Menu "Channel Setup":
Thismenu comprisesall settings, thatare validonlyforthecurrentselectedinput
channel.Ifyou changetheinputchannel,all settingsare savedautomaticallyand the
channelsettingsforthenewchannelare loaded. Therefore,you canadjusttheMAPto
eachconnectedsource independently,and don'thavetoworryaboutsavingand re-
loadingthesettings you made. TheMAPwill do thework automatically.
InternalDecoder:
Inorder toswitchoff theinternaldecoder,press key (thedisplayshows
'disabled',OSDshows'pure 2-chan.').All programmaterialisdownmixedto2-
chStereoindependentlyfromtheoriginalprogramformat.DolbyProLogicIIxorDTS
Neo:6decoding,Bass and DelayManagementare off inthismode.Itisstrongly
recommended to usethis modeforStereo PCM or2-ch analogsources only.
Press key toactivatetheinternaldecoder (thedisplayshows'active',OSDshows
'Multi-Channel').All incomingprogramformats(PCMorbitstream)are detected
and decoded automatically(see also section 'PCM direct').

Music: The'Music'modeisforusewithanystereomusicrecordings, and
providesawideand deepsound space.The'Music'modeincludes
controls(CenterWidth, DimensionControland Panorama),thatallowthe
sound tobetailoredtoyourlisteningtastes. All three ofthesecontrolsmay
beusedaloneorinanycombination. After you experimentedwiththemon
afew programs, you will easilyunderstand theireffectand consider which
settingyou mayprefer.
Pro Logic: OriginalDolbyPro Logicmode.
Matrix: The'Matrix'modeisthesameasthe'Music'modeexcept,thatthe
directionalenhancementlogicisturnedoff.Itmaybeusedtoenhance
mono signalsbymakingthemseem"larger".TheMatrixmodemayalso
find use,iffluctuations frompoorstereoreception (ofFMradio, TVor
satellitereceivers)causedisturbingsurround signals fromalogicdecoder.
Becausemusicrecordingtechniquesand listeningpreferencesvaryso widely,no single
decodingsettingislikelytobeadequateforall content.Therefore,DolbyProLogicIIx
incorporatesaseparate'Music'modetoreproduce aconvincingand compelling

surround ambience fromconventionalstereosources. The'Music'modegenerally
includesthree controlsforfine-tuningthesoundfieldtogetthemostpleasingornatural
effect.

detectedand accentuatedbythePanoramaprocess. ThePanoramacontrolis
automaticallyturned off in 'Movie'mode.
