Audiovox XMFM1 XM User manual

AUDIOVOX ELECTRONICS CORPORATION (the Company) warrants to the original retail purchaser of this product that should this
product or any part thereof, under normal use and conditions, be proven defective in material or workmanship within12 months from the
date of original purchase, such defect(s) will be repaired or replaced with new or reconditioned product (at the Company's option) without
charge for parts and repair labor.
ToobtainrepairorreplacementwithinthetermsofthisWarranty,theproductistobedeliveredwithproofofwarrantycoverage(e.g.dated
billofsale),specificationofdefect(s),transportationprepaid, to an approvedwarrantystationor the Company attheaddressshownbelow.
This Warranty does not extend to the elimination of externally generated static or noise, to costs incurred for installation, removal or
reinstallation of the product, damage to speakers, accessories, or vehicle and home electrical systems, malfunction of satellite
transmissions, repeater signal or receiver unit.
ThisWarranty does not applyto any product orpart thereof which, inthe opinion of theCompany, has suffered orbeen damaged through
alteration, improper installation, mishandling, misuse, neglect, accident, or by removal or defacement of the factory serial number/bar
code label(s). THE EXTENT OF THE COMPANY'S LIABILITY UNDER THIS WARRANTY IS LIMITED TO THE REPAIR OR
REPLACEMENT PROVIDED ABOVE AND, IN NO EVENT, SHALL THE COMPANY'S LIABILITY EXCEED THE PURCHASE PRICE
PAID BY PURCHASER FOR THE PRODUCT.
This Warranty is in lieu of all other express warranties or liabilities. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED
WARRANTYOF MERCHANTABILITY, SHALL BELIMITEDTOTHE DURATION OF THISWRITTENWARRANTY. ANYACTION FOR
BREACH OF ANY WARRANTY HEREUNDER INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY MUST BE
BROUGHT WITHIN A PERIOD OF 48 MONTHS FROM DATE OF ORIGINAL PURCHASE. IN NO CASE SHALL THE COMPANY BE
LIABLEFORANY CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTALDAMAGESFORBREACHOF THIS OR ANYOTHERWARRANTY,EXPRESS
OR IMPLIED, WHATSOEVER. No person or representative is authorized to assume for the Company any liability other than expressed
herein in connection with the sale of this product.

Installation Guide
For use with XM Satellite Radio Receivers with internal FM modulator
Caution: Because the installation of this device may require disassembly of the vehicle instrument panel
and/or tapping into vehicle wiring, INSTALLATION ONLY BYPROFESSIONALS is recommended.
Turning on theAudiovox
XM FM Direct Accessory
WithignitionintheAccessory po-
sition, the XM FM DirectAdapter
is always on in a standby condi-
tion. When you turn on your XM
radio, the adapter will automati-
cally switch the vehicle stereo
inputfromyour FM antenna to an
XM signal
ChangingtheTransmittingFre-
quency
The XM FM Direct allows you to
input the signal from your XM
radio directly into your vehicle’s
radio.
You can select the frequency on
which the broadcast is sent from
your XM radio controls in the
same manner as you would for
the wireless modulation mode.
(See your XM radio user manual
for more information.) Set your
vehicle’s radio to the same FM
frequencyastheoneselected for
your XM radio.
1. Connect the cable marked “TO
XM RADIO ”on the adapter into
the antenna in jack on the XM
radio.
2. Connect the cable marked “TO
FMANT” on the adapter to the
vehicle antenna cable (optional
antenna adapter may be re-
quired).
3. Connect the vehicle radio cable
lead to the cable marked “TO FM
RADIO” on the adapter (optional
antennaadaptermayberequired).
4. Connect the XMAntenna into
the jack marked “XMANT” lo-
catedontheside of the accessory.
5. Your XM FM Direct receives
power from your XM radio. No
additional external power
source is required.
Note: The FM antenna connector
usedto connectthe FMDirect tothe
audio/stereosystem mayrequire an
additional antenna adapter. Some
audio/stereo systems have AM an-
tennas that require an active bias
fromyour vehicle’s audio/stereosys-
tem. IfAM reception is not restored,
try a different antenna adapter that
willallow theactive biasto reach the
AM antenna. Professional installa-
tion is recommended
The Audiovox XM FM Direct
Adapter may be tie-wrapped to
existingwireharnesses or other
under-dash structures, or
placed under a seat. The
adapter should be constrained
in some way to help prevent it
fromcausingannoying rattles or
other noise and/or chafing.
