OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
INTRODUCTION
The SPS/Audiovox CD Changer system installed in your vehicle
has been designed to operate using the controls of the factory radio.
In general, the operation of the CD Changer will be as per the
instructions for the audio equipment included with your vehicle
Owner’s Manual. However, there are a few differences as described
herein, so please refer to this booklet for questions you may have
on the system operation.
Since the CD Changer will operate through the sound system of the
vehicle, adjustment of the audio functions (volume, tone, balance,
etc.) is made by using the controls on the car stereo.
The specific details on the handling of discs and the use of the CD
magazine (loading, removal, etc.) will be found within the Owner’s
Manual of the compatible changer used in the system. Please note
that the discs are loaded label side up in some changer models and
label side down in other models. The correct method is shown in
the manual for the changer and is indicated on the magazine itself.
Make sure to load the discs correctly as the changer will not operate
if the discs are inserted up-side-down.
SETTING UP FOR OPERATION
Following the instructions in the Owner’s Manual of the CD Changer,
load the desired number of discs into the CD magazine and insert
the magazine into the changer.
With the car stereo operating, turn on the CD Changer by pressing
the “CD” button on the radio. Play of the changer will begin and the
disc number and track number will appear on the radio display panel.
Play will begin from the first disc if a new CD magazine has been
loaded into the changer or will resume from the point at which it had
previously played if a magazine was already in the changer. Adjust
the volume, tone, and balance to your taste by using the controls on
the car stereo.
When the last track on a disc has played, the unit will automatically
advance to and begin play of the next disc in the magazine. When
the last track on the last disc in the magazine has been played, the
unit will automatically return to the first disc and continue playing.
To return to radio operation from CD play, press the radio band
button (“AM FM” or “AM” “FM” depending on radio type). To return
to tape operation from CD play, simply insert a tape into the cassette
deck or, if a tape is already loading in the deck, press the “TAPE”
button. To return to CD Changer operation from radio or tape play,
press the “CD” button.
NOTE: For vehicles equipped with rear seat audio controls, this CD
Changer system will allow the rear seat passengers to
operate the CD Changer as well as the radio functions.
3
DISC SELECT ( DISCS )
Press the Disc Select button to select the desired disc for play as
indicated on the display panel. The unit will load the selected disc
and begin play. To advance to a higher number disc, press the
side of the button. To return to a lower number, press the side.
TRACK SELECT ( SEEK )
The Track Select function is used to quickly access the beginning
of a particular track. Press the Forward ( ) or Backward ( ) side
of the button to locate the desired track as shown by the track
number indication on the display panel.
NOTE: If the Backward Track Select ( ) is pressed before the first
5 seconds of a track have played, the unit will select the
previous track. If pressed after the first 5 seconds of the
track have played, the unit will go to the beginning of the
track in play.
FAST-FORWARD / REWIND (FF / REW)
High-speed audible search to any section of the disc can be made
by the Fast-Forward and Rewind functions. Press and hold the FF
button to advance quickly in the forward direction or press the REW
button to advance rapidly in the backward direction. During Fast-
Forward or Rewind operation, the elapsed time will be shown on the
display panel. Fast-Forward will not proceed past the end of the last
track on the disc and Rewind will not proceed past the beginning of
the first track. Play will resume from that point when the button is
released.
SHUFFLE PLAY
When the Shuffle button is pressed, the indication “SHF” will
momentarily appear on the display panel and the tracks on the disc
will be played in a random, shuffled order. The Track Select
( SEEK ) function will also select tracks in shuffled order instead
of the normal progression. Shuffle mode can be canceled by
pressing the Shuffle button again (“SHF OFF” will momentarily
appear on the display panel) or by activating the Scan function.
INTRO-SCAN
When the Scan button is pressed, the first 10 seconds of each track
on the disc will be played in order and the track number will flash on
the display panel. When a desired track is reached, press the Scan
button again and play of that track will continue (the track number
will stop flashing). Scan mode will also be canceled by activating
the Disc Select, Track Select (track number will change up or down
depending on which direction is pressed), Fast-Forward, or Rewind
buttons.
COMPRESSION ADJUST (COMP)
This feature is not available on the CD Changer in your vehicle so
activating this button will not have any effect, although the “C”
indication will appear on the display panel.
