Maestro Features Setting Up Your Maestro
1Slide the battery switch to “supply” (to the left).
The battery switch is located on the left side of the bottom of your
Maestro. Switching the battery switch to “stop” will reset and initialize
your Maestro and all your information will be deleted. To set the battery
switch to “stop”, slide and hold the battery switch lock to “release”
(toward the top of the Maestro) and, at the same time, slide the battery
switch to “Stop”.
2Charge the battery
There are two ways to charge the built-in battery:
•Connect the supplied AC Adapter and the cradle as shown in the
figure below, and then insert the Maestro into the cradle.
•Connect the supplied AC Adapter and the Maestro as shown in the
figure below.
Caution:
Before you connect the AC Adapter and the Maestro, turn the unit off.
Note
•For charging the built-in battery, maintain an ambient temperature from approx. 5°C
(41°F) to 35°C (95°F). If the ambient temperature is too low or too high, the charging
will pause. According to the operating status, the charging may pause even when the
ambient temperature is below 35°C (95 °F). The LED/Alarm lamp will flash yellow when
the charging has paused.
•The lamp is lit in orange during the built-in battery charging.
•When the built-in battery is completely charged, the LED/Alarm lamp color changes to green.
•Charge time is dependent on the ambient temperature.
•Charging time to fully charge the built-in battery for the first time or when completely
drained is approximately 4 hours.
3When charging is completed, press the power button to
turn on the power.
The Welcome screen appears.
4Proceed to initial setup according to the instructions on
the screen.
•When the Complete screen appears, the initial setup is completed.
•After tapping the screen, you can use the Maestro.

that button. The factory default settings
are (from the left) Calendar, Tasks,
Home & Contacts.

exclusively for selecting touch
screen operations.
Power Button / Front Light
Press to turn the power on or off. When the power
is on, press and hold to turn on the LCD light.
Touch Screen

Press at the top, bottom or sides to move
the cursor in that direction on the screen.
Press the center of the button to select an
option or program.
AC Adapter Jack
Used to connect
the AC Adapter.
Cradle Connection Port
CF Card Slot
This slot holds a CompactFlash
memory card.
SD Card Slot
This slot holds an SD memory card.
Stereo Headphone Jack
Used to connect headphone.
USB Cradle
Connects to the
USB port on your
computer.

Basic Operation
Today Screen
When you turn on your Maestro for the first time each day (or after 4
hours of inactivity), you’ll see the Today screen. You can also display
it by tapping and then Today. On the Today screen, you can see at
a glance important information you need for the day.
Navigation Bar and Command Bar
The navigation bar is located at the top of the screen. It displays
the program you are currently running as well as the current time.
It also allows you to switch to other programs and close screens.
The command bar is located at the bottom of the screen. It displays
the input panel button and the activities you can perform (new, edit,
etc.) within each program.
Input Methods
You can enter information in any program on your Maestro by typing
with the soft Keyboard, or writing using Letter Recognizer.
The Letter Recognizer input panel is divided into three writing areas.
Letters written in the left area (labeled ABC) will create uppercase
letters, and letters written in the middle area (labeled abc) will create
lowercase letters. The right area (labeled 123) is for writing numbers,
symbols, special characters, and punctuation.
For more information on using Letter Recognizer and for demos of all
characters, tap the question mark next to the writing area on the Letter
Recognizer input panel.

To Browse the Internet
1Obtain the following information from your ISP: ISP dial-up access
telephone number, user name, password, and TCP/IP settings. Some ISPs
require information in front of the user name, such as MSN/ username.
2Connect the cellular phone (CDM-9100) to your Maestro, using a
specified connection cable (included).
•If you want to connect to Verizon Wireless, jump to step 9.
3Tap and then Settings. In the Connections tab, tap Connections.
Under The Internet Settings, select Internet Settings and tap Modify.
4In the Modem tab, tap New.
5Enter a name for the connection, such as “ISP Connection.”
6In the Select a Modem list, select CDM-9100 Series and tap Next.
7Enter the access phone number and tap Next.
8Select other desired options and tap Finish. To exit Internet
Settings, tap OK.
9To switch to Pocket Internet Explorer, tap , then Internet Explorer.
10Tap View and then Address Bar. In the address bar that appears
at the top of the screen, enter the web address you want to visit and
then tap Go. Tap the arrow to choose from previously entered addresses.
•To end the connection, tap Tools, End, and then tap the connection
icon on the Today screen, and then tap End.
