INTRODUCTION
The Pit DAU connects with the Digital Communication Platform (DCP) to provide a
2-way communication point in the pit.
The unit is generally mounted at the bottom of the lift shaft in the pit and connects
to the DCP GSM unit by 4-wire CAN Bus. The 4-wire CAN Bus will provide reliable
communication for distances up to 200m.
It is recommended that customers use shielded twisted pair cable to ensure minimal
Interference to the audio channel from ambient electrical noise in the lift shaft.

INSTALLATION
1. Mount the Pit DAU at the bottom of the lift shaft within reaching distance of the
refuge area.
2. Run a 4-wire cable between the DCP and position that the Pit DAU is intended to
be mounted. This cable will carry CANBus data signal between the two devices.
Note: The Pit DAU and in-car DAU can be wired together directly to the DCP or via a ‘CAN’ splitter.
This type of connection provides stable communication over trailing cables of up to 200m.
3. Wire the Plug connectors for the DCP and Pit DAU as shown in the diagram below.
When rst connected, the Pit DAU should power on, indicated by the Pictogram
LED’s ashing.
4. A CANBus splitter is required for any installations where the DCP is supporting
more than 1 lift. A CANBus splitter can be used to consolidate up to 4 CANBus
circuits into one and it is typically used as an intermediate device between one
DCP and multiple DAU units.

The Pit DAU is powered using connector J3, the 4-wire cable provides power directly
from the DCP if connected.
If you want to power the equipment locally from a power source, do not connect 1 and
4 to the DCP and wire the source or local power to these terminals. The allowed range
is 8 to 28 VDC.
There is an internal battery on-board the DAU module providing 1 hour battery backup
to the unit.
Please note: In installations where the DAU is powered from a power supply that also
has a battery backup, its internal battery may be disconnected. In all other cases the
battery should be connected otherwise the system won’t work in the case of mains
power failure.

equipment. By placing a removable jumper between pins 1 and
2, the battery is connected. By placing the removable jumper
between pins 2 and 3, the battery is disconnected.

equipment installation.

When installing a Pit DAU, connect to the DCP (or CAN Bus Splitter if the DCP is
supporting more than 1 lift) via J8 using a 4-core cable (2 wires for power and 2 for
communication).
End of Line (EOL) Setting on DAU
EOL signals the CANbus that the device is the last device on the CANbus line, this is
essential for correct operation of the device.
For correct installation, if the 2-button CAN DAU is EOL then ensure that SW1 4 is
turned on.
SWITCH CONFIGURATIONS

LED INDICATORS
There are two LED indicators on the Pit DAU; green and yellow. The following table
describes their operation:

FUNCTIONALITY
External Alarm Call
Press and hold the yellow button (1) to initiate an external alarm call. Once activated
the yellow LED (3) will turn on to signify the call has been initiated. Once external
communication is established the green LED (4) will light up indicating that the audio
channel is now open.
Internal alarm call (Intercom)
Press the blue button (2) to start or end an internal call to the machine room. While
this call is established, the led (4) will be blinking slowly. When communication is
established, the led will light permanently.
If the LED (4) blinks rapidly, it means that another device in the installation has taken
the ongoing call.
Press and hold both the yellow (1) and blue button (2) at the same time to enable the
End of Alarm signal (EOA) and the device will revert to standby mode.

End of Alarm (EOA)
EOA indicates to the team that the alarm process and the rescue of trapped people
has ended. The system can return to idle status and is ready in case of a new alarm.
It is possible to generate an EOA locally by simultaneously pressing the two buttons,
yellow (1) and blue (2), on the front.
The equipment will go into standby and the yellow indicator light, indicating that the
equipment is in alarm, will turn o.

The device complies with regulations 2002/95/CE and 2003/108/CE regarding
the use and disposal of hazardous substances in electric appliances.
Do not dispose of this device with unsorted household waste. Disposing
of the device in an unauthorised way could result in a ne in line with local
regulations.

ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS
This device is designed to be used indoors (0oC to 45oC with relative humidity between
20% to 80% not condensing). Sudden changes of temperature and humidity should be
avoided.

BATTERY
The Pit DAU has a NiMH 3.6 V/650 mAh battery that allows it to keep functioning in the
event of a mains power failure. This battery should be replaced every 2 years. Replacing
the battery involves removing the lid of the Pit DAU, disconnecting the existing battery
and replacing it with the new battery from Avire (the part number is on the battery
label).
This battery should be properly recycled and not disposed of with unsorted household
waste.

AUFZUGSICHERHEIT
Bitte befolgen Sie alle Arbeitsschutzregeln und treen Sie alle nötigen

EINLEITUNG
Das Schachtgruben-Audiomodul (PIT DAU) wird an die digitale
Kommunikationsplattform (DCP) angeschlossen, um in der Grube einen 2-Wege-
Kommunikationspunkt bereitzustellen.
Das Modul wird in der Regel in der Grube am Boden des Aufzugschachts montiert und
über einen 4-adrigen CAN-Bus an die DCP-GSM-Einheit angeschlossen. Der 4-adrige
CAN-Bus stellt eine zuverlässige Kommunikation über eine Distanz von bis zu 200 m
sicher.
Kunden wird empfohlen, abgeschirmte verdrillte Doppelkabel zu verwenden, damit der
Audiokanal von elektrischen Störungen in der Umgebung möglichst wenig
beeinträchtigt wird.

INSTALLATION
1. Montieren Sie das Schachtgruben-Audiomodul in Reichweite des Schutzraums
am Boden des Aufzugschachts.
2. Führen Sie ein 4-adriges Kabel von der DCP bis zur Position, in der das
Schachtgruben-Audiomodul (PIT DAU) montiert werden soll. Dieses Kabel
überträgt CANBus-Datensignale zwischen beiden Geräten. Hinweis: Das
Schachtgruben-Audiomodul (PIT DAU) und das Fahrkorb-DAU können direkt an die DCP oder
mit einem "CAN"-Splitter verbunden werden. Diese Verbindungsart gewährleistet eine stabile
Kommunikation über Schleppkabel bis zu 200 m.
3. Verbinden Sie die Anschlüsse für DCP und Schachtgrubenmodul wie im
nachstehenden Diagramm gezeigt. Nach der ersten Verbindung sollte sich das
Schachtgrubenmodul einschalten, was durch die blinkenden LED unterhalb der
Piktogramme angezeigt wird.
4. Ein CANBus-Splitter ist für Installationen erforderlich, bei denen die DCP mehrere
Aufzüge unterstützt. Ein CANBus-Splitter kann zur Bündelung von bis zu 4
CANBus-Schaltkreisen genutzt werden und wird in der Regel als Zwischengerät
zwischen einer DCP und mehreren digitalen Audiomodulen eingesetzt.

Das Schachtgruben-Audiomodul wird über den J3-Anschluss betrieben, das 4-adrige
Kabel liefert nach dem Anschluss Strom direkt von der DCP.
Wenn Sie das Gerät über eine lokale Stromquelle betreiben möchten, schließen
Sie 1 und 4 nicht an die DCP an und schließen Sie die lokale Stromquelle an diesen
Anschlüssen an. Der zulässige Bereich ist 8 bis 28 VDC.
Auf der Platine des DAU-Moduls bendet sich eine integrierte Batterie, die 1 Stunde
Notstrom für die Einheit liefern kann.
Hinweis: Bei Installationen, bei denen die DAU über eine Stromquelle betrieben wird,
die ebenfalls über eine Notstrombatterie verfügt, ist der Anschluss der integrierten
Batterie nicht nötig. In allen anderen Fällen sollte die Batterie angeschlossen werden,
da das System bei einem Netzausfall sonst nicht funktioniert.

Durch Setzen eines entfernbaren Jumpers zwischen den Pins
1 und 2 wird die Verbindung zur Batterie hergestellt. Durch
Setzen eines entfernbaren Jumpers zwischen den Pins 2 und 3
wird die Verbindung zur Batterie getrennt.

Wichtig: Die Verbindung der Notstrombatterie ist ab Werk getrennt. Bitte schließen Sie
die Notstrombatterie bei der Montage des Geräts an.
