PCMCIA 1S/2S Adapter
Quick Installation Guide
1. Introduction
The PCMCIA 1S/2S PC Card provides high-speed serial port (RS232C)
into your notebook computer to connect various types of serialdevices.

2. Installation Procedures
2-1 Hardware Installation
General instructions for installing the PCMCIA PC Card adapter are
given since the location of the PCMCIA PC Card Type II/III slot may
vary between different portable computers.

1. Insert the PCMCIA PC Card Adapter into an available PCMCIA
PC Card Type II/III slot with the arrow orientation pointing
towards the slot.
2. Plug the serial port cable into the PCMCIA PCCard Adapter.
3. Hardware installation is completed. Please proceed to the next section
for software installation.
2-2 Software Installation
Throughout driver installation, you may be prompted to insert your
Windows installation CD. Some files on this CD are necessary to
complete the driver installation. Please insert the CD when prompted
and follow on-screen instructions.
Windows 98SE Driver Installation
For PCMCIA 1S Adapter:
1. After hardware installation is completed, boot up your system.
2. At the Add New Hardware Wizard,click Next, Next.
3. Insert the driver CD into your CD-ROM drive.
4. Check the Specify a location: and type E:\1S then click Next.
(Assume E: is your CD-ROM drive)
5. When COM CARD appears, click Next, then click Finish.
6. Remove the driver CD, then restart your system
to complete driver installation.
For PCMCIA 2S Adapter:
1. After hardware installation is completed, boot upyour system.
2. When Add New Hardware Wizard displays Elan-Serial Port
CF332-DEV0, click Cancel, Cancel.
3. Insert the driver CD into your CD-ROM drive.
4. Double click Serialsetup from driver CD of 2S folder.

5. When InstallShield appears, click Restart.
6. When Add New Hardware Wizard displays Elan-Serial Port
CF332-DEV0 again, click Cancel, Cancel.
7. When Serial Card Drivers-InstallShield wizard appears,
click Next, Install, then click Finish.
8. Click Yes to restart your system.
9. When System Settings Change appears, click Yes
to complete driver installation.
Windows ME Driver Installation
For PCMCIA 1S Adapter:
1. After hardware installation is completed, boot up your system.
2. When Add New Hardware Wizard displays Elan-SERIAL CARD:
CF332, insert the driver CD into your CD-ROM drive, then click Next.
3. Click Finish and remove the driver CD, then restart your system
to complete driver installation.
For PCMCIA 2S Adapter:
1. After hardware installation is completed, boot up your system.
2. Insert the driver CD into your CD-ROM drive.
3. Double click Serialsetup from driver CD of 2S folder.
4. When InstallShield appears, click Restart.
5. When Serial Card Drivres-Installshield Wizard appears,
click Next, Install, then click Finish.
6. Click Yes to restart your system.
7. Right click My Computericon, the click Properties.
8. Click Device Manager then select Elan-Serial Port: CF332
under Other devices list.
9. Click Properites, then click Reinstall Driver….

10.Check Automatic search a better driver[Recommended],
click Next, then click Finish.
11.Select Elan-Serial Port: CF332-DEV0, then click Properites.
12.Click Reinstall Driver, check Automatic search a better
drive[Recommended], click Next, then click Finish.
13.Remove the driver CD, then restart your system
to complete driver installation.
Windows 2000 Driver Installation
For PCMCIA 1S Adapter:
1. After hardware installation is completed, boot up your system.
2. At the Found New Hardware Wizard, click Next.
3. Insert the driver CD into you CD-ROM drive, then click Next.
4. Check CD-ROM drives, then click Next, Next, then click Finish.
5. Remove the driver CDand restart Windows system
to complete driver installation.
For PCMCIA 2S Adapter:
1. After hardware installation is completed, boot up your system.
2. At the Found New Hardware Wizard,click Cancel, Cancel.
3. Insert the driver CD into your CD-ROM drive.
4. Double click Serialsetup from driver CD of 2S folder.
5. When Serial Card Drivers-InstallShield wizard appears,
click Next, Install.
6. If the message windowdisplays Windows 2K/XP Hotfix setup …,
please ignore the message and click OK.
7. At the InstallShield wizard, click Finish.
8. When Serial Card Drivers Installer Information appears,
click Yes to restart your system.

9. Right click My Computericon then select Manage,
then click Device Manager.
10.Double click Yellow mark Second CF332 com Port (Com X)
under Ports (Com & LPT) list.
11.Click Reinstall Driver…then click Next, Next, Next, Next,
then click Finish.
12.Remove the driver CD and restart your system
to complete driver installation.
Windows XP Driver Installation
For PCMCIA 1S Adapter:
1. After hardware installation is completed, boot up your system.
2. At the Found New Hardware Wizard, select No, not this time,
then click Next.
3. Insert the driver CD into your CD-ROM, then click Next.
4. WhenHardware Installation displays COM CARD,
click Continue Anyway, then click Finish.
5. Remove the driver CD and restart your system
to complete driver installation.
For PCMCIA 2S Adapter:
1. After hardware installation is completed, boot up your system.
2. At the Found New Hardware Wizard,click Cancel, Cancel.
3. Insert the driver CD into your CD-ROM drive.
4. Double click Serialsetup from driver CD of 2S folder.
5. When Serial Card Drivers-InstallShield Wizard appears,
click Next, Install.
6. When Hardware Installationappears, click Continue Anyway.

7. When Hardware Installation displays First CF332 Com Port,
click Continue Anyway.
8. When Hardware Installation displays Second CF332 Com Port,
click Continue Anyway, then click Finish.
9. Remove the driver CD, then click Yes to complete driver installation.
2-3 To verify successful driver installation
1. Check Device Manager to verify successful driver installation.
Windows 98SE/ME:From the main desktop, right click My
Computer, then click Properties. Click Device Manager tab.
Windows 2000/XP: Right click My Computer, then click Manage.
Click Device Manager.
2. Double click Ports (Com&LPT), find 1S: COM CARD 2S: First
CF332 Com Port/Second CF332 Com Port,and double click it to
display it's properties. In the next window,This device is working
properly will display when the installation is successful.
3. Changing the COM Port Assignment
Under Windows 2000/XP
For PCMCIA 1S Adapter:
1. Right click My Computer. Click Manage, then click Device
Manager.
2. Double click Ports (Com&LPT). Click COM CARD,
then click Properties.
3. Click Port Settings, then Advanced.
4. Click the COM Port Number box, scrollsto anavailable
COM port settings,then select it.
5. After selecting the new COM port setting,click OK
to save your changes.

For PCMCIA 2S Adapter:
1. Right click My Computer. Click Manage, then click Device Manager.
2. Double click Ports (Com&LPT). Click … CF332 Com Port, then
click Properties
3. Click Port Settings, then Advanced.
4. Click the COM Port Number drop down box, scrollsto an available
COM port settings,then select it.
5. After selecting the new COM port setting,click OK to save your
changes.
Under Windows 98SE/ME
COM Port Assignment is not adjustable in Windows 98SE/ME.
