Bailey caravan. We would like to welcome
you into the ranks of Bailey owners. We are
condentthatthisvehiclewillgiveyoumany
yearsofenjoyment.
This handbook has been designed to enable
you to derive the maximum benets and
pleasure from your caravan. Its information
andhintswillbebenecialandhelptoprotect
your investment whether you are a new or
experiencedcaravanowner.
Pleasebeawarethatcertainsectionsareonly
applicabletosomemodels.
Information leaets and literature on safe
operationofappliancesandequipmenttted
to your caravan are included in the Bailey
informationpack.Pleasereadthesecarefully
priortouse.
Failure to observe recommendations or
precautionscouldresultinincorrectoperation
of equipment which could in turn lead to
subsequentrisktooccupants.

Bailey offer a variety of customer uses and
whileeachvehicleisdesignedtofeaturethe
optimum storage, seating, sleeping and uid
capacities, it is the customer’s responsibility
toselectthecorrectloadswithoutexceeding
theweightcapabilitiesofyourchosentowing
vehicle. These weights can be found on the
weightplatelocatedoutsideyourvehiclenext
totheexteriordoorandontheApprovalLabel
insidethegaslocker.

you will require for your safe enjoyment of
your caravan. All the information contained
herein is important. However, to draw your

of an approved type or complying with

capacity by the main door, and a re

certied by the National Caravan
Council for compliance with UK
and European standards and
legislation along with industry
codesofpracticerelatingtohealthandsafety
issues. The approval process covers the
testingandinspectionofcriticalareasofthe
product from re safety, weights and
dimensions, to gas, electrics and ventilation.
Every Bailey caravan carries the “NCC
ApprovedCaravan”badge.TheNCCconducts
unannounced inspections at their members’
factoriestoensurecontinuedcompliance.
NCC approval gives you peace of mind that
yourcaravanislegalandsafe.
YourBaileycaravanisEuropeanWholeVehicle
Typeapproved.
This assures you that your caravan meets
all European regulations and has been
constructed to conform to these rigorous
standardsforbothmanufacturingandproduct
safety.Thisallowsyoutoregisteryourvehicle
inanotherEuropeancountry.Yourcerticate
ofconformityisinthedocumentpackprovided
withyourvehicle.
Insideyourcaravanisacerticatestatingthat
themodelistypeapproved.Ifforanyreason
you need another certicate your Bailey
Caravan retailer is responsible for accessing
one through the NCC system. Please refer
backtoyourretailerforadditionalcopies.

•Yourtourerisacompactlivingenvironment,
and appliances should be treated in the
samewayasthoseinthehometoprevent
any accidental burning or scalding-keep
youngchildrenawayfromhotsurfaces.
•Your tourer is supplied with a EN1645
approved caravan step. Always take care
when entering or exiting your tourer,
ensuringthat the stepissecurely located
andsafebeforeuse.Donotuseadamaged
orbrokenstep.
•The torque setting of the caravan’s wheel
boltsshouldbecheckedaftertherst30
miles after collection of the caravan from
theretailer.Thereafter,wheelboltsshould
be checked before every journey. The
torque settings and tightening sequence
aredetailedonpage21ofthishandbook.
•Neverattempttoliftthetowhitchwithyour
hands when hitching the caravan to the
tow vehicle or at any other time. Always
raiseorlowerthetowhitchbywindingthe
handleonthejockeywheel.
•Always ensure that the green button
locatedontheleadingedgeofthecoupling
headisraisedbeforetowing.
Driving Licences
A driver passing a test after 1 January 1997
isrestrictedtoacar/caravancombinationnot
exceeding 3,500kg (maximum laden weight,
andwherethemaximumloadedweightofthe
caravan does not exceed the unladen weight
of the car. New drivers outside these rules
will need to take an additional driving test.
Existing drivers who passed a test before 1
January1997arenotaffected.

Terms and Conditions
The Bailey Warranty Cover set out above is
offeredsubjecttothefollowingsimpleterms
andconditions:
Cover
1. During the term of the Warranty Cover,
subjecttothesetermsandconditions,Bailey
will, through an Authorised Service Centre,
at its option repair or replace all parts and
componentsofthecaravanthatareincluded
in the Warranty Cover and which suffer a
defect in manufacture or workmanship. An
Authorised Service Centre means either
Bailey itself, a Bailey approved retailer or
a Bailey approved service centre. Any part
which is replaced becomes the property of
Bailey.Anyreplacementpartsarecoveredfor
theunexpiredtermofthewarrantycover.
Term
2.TheinitialdurationoftheBodyshellIntegrity
Guarantee is six (6) years and the duration
of the Manufacturer’s Warranty is three (3)
years,inbothcasesstartingfromtheoriginal
purchasedateofthevehicle.Itisacondition
of the warranty that an annual service is
performed on the vehicle in accordance with
the service plan. Failure to comply with this
termwillinvalidatethewarranty.
3.TheunexpiredtermoftheWarrantyCoveron
yourvehiclemayonlybeassigned,transferred
ornovatedtosubsequentownerswithBailey’s
consent (not to be unreasonably withheld)
andonpaymenttoBaileyofatransferfeeof
£35.Transfercanonlybemadewithintherst
three(3)monthsofsubsequentownershipand
full documentary evidence that the vehicle
hasbeenservicedannuallymustbeprovided
atthetimeofassignmentinaccordancewith
thetermsandconditionsdetailedabove.
Repairs
4. The caravan must undergo a full annual
service and inspection, including a moisture
survey, carried out, subject to paragraph 5
below, by an Authorised Service Centre. The
nal annual service in the warranty period
must be carried out before the end of that
warrantyperiod,butallotherannualservices
may be carried out within six (6) weeks
eithersideofeachanniversaryoftheoriginal
purchase date. The original VAT invoices
must be retained as proof that these annual
inspectionshavebeencarriedout.
5. During the rst three (3) years of the
Warranty Cover, all annual inspections and

repairs must be carried out by either Bailey
itselforanapprovedBaileyservicecentreor
agent.Thereafter,duetothetechnicalnature
of an Alu-Tech constructed caravan, annual
inspectionsandrepairsmaybecarriedoutby
anyworkshoporrepaircentreapprovedbythe
National Caravan Council that has attended
Alu-TechtrainingcoursesattheBaileyfactory.
6.Whereanannualinspectionidentiesthat
repairs to the vehicle are necessary, the
caravan must be made available for repair
withinsix(6)weeksofthedateofinspection
for the purpose of carrying out the repair
work.
7. No repairs, including the tting of any
replacement unit, may be undertaken or
commencedunderthetermsoftheWarranty
Cover unless prior written authorisation is
obtainedfromBaileyviaanauthorisedBailey
retailer or service centre. No liability will
exist with regard to any warranty claims not
authorisedinthisway.
8. Bailey reserve the right to examine the
vehicle before any repairs commence or any
replacementpartistted.
Registration and Use
9.TheWarrantyRegistrationFormmusthave
beensenttoBaileywithinsix(6)weeksofthe
originalpurchasedate.Itistheresponsibilityof
theBaileyretailertoforwardthisinformation
toBailey.Thisispartofthetermsoftrading
thattheBaileyretailerhaswithBailey.
10.Thecaravanshall:
•Onlybeusedforitsordinaryandintended
purpose and shall not be subjected to
any treatment or conditions which could
reasonablybeforeseentocauseor result
indamagetothevehicleorexcessivewear
andtear
•Only be towed by a private car or private
4x4vehicle
•Notbeputouttohire,rewardoranyother
commercial use, nor used in any race,
competitions or rallies whether timed,
ofcialorotherwise.
Exclusions and Liability
11. Bailey’s liability under this warranty shall
be limited to supplying the reasonable costs
oflabourandmaterialsrequiredfortherepair
orreplacementoffaultypartsorcomponents.
Bailey shall be entitled to charge for any
repairworkwhichisnecessitatedbyvirtueof
anylossordamagecausedbyyournegligence
or default or incurred as a result of any
modications you have made to the vehicle.
This warranty does not cover repair costs
otherthanlabourandmaterials.
12.TheWarrantyCoverdoesnotinclude:
•Repair or replacement of parts,
components, seams or panels which are
notpartoftheoriginalconstructionofthe
caravan,orwhichhavebeentamperedwith
or undergone unauthorised modications,
or which have been repaired otherwise
thanbyanAuthorisedServiceCentre
•Parts or components other than those
specicallylistedintheBodyshellIntegrity
Guarantee and Manufacturer’s Warranty
descriptionssetoutabove
•General maintenance or components
failingduetofairwearandtearornormal
deteriorationrepairsnecessitatedbylackof
routineorregularmaintenance.Particular
attention is drawn to the Owner’s Manual
and Service Handbook supplied with the
caravanandanymaintenanceinstructions
or notices published from time to time
by Bailey relating to the proper care and
maintenanceofvehicles
•Structural degradation or other damage
caused by water ingress through non-
permanently sealed seams or joints (such
as, without limitation, around windows,
hatches,doorsandrooights),beyondthe
initial 24 months of the Manufacturer’s
Warranty.
13. No liability will be accepted for:
•Damage caused by neglect or abuse,
corrosion, intrusion of foreign or
deleterious substances, lack of servicing,
over-heating, freezing, or the continued
useofthevehicleafterafaulthasbecome
evident
•Any loss or damage caused to parts not
covered by this warranty cover, including
softfurnishingsortrim
•Anyaccidentalorredamageoranylosses
incurredbyaccidentorre
•Transportcoststoandfrompointofrepair.
Bailey will only be liable for costs which are
incurredasadirectconsequenceoftheevent,
defect or fault leading to the claim being
madeunder thiswarranty. No liabilitywillbe
acceptedforanyotherlossordamage(suchas
lossofincomeorrevenue,orlossofbusiness
orprots),costs,expensesorotherclaimsfor

compensation howsoever arising which was
not reasonably foreseeable by both parties
when the caravan was originally purchased.
Baileywillnotbeliableforanylossordamage
sufferedbythirdparties,norforbodilyinjury
notcausedbyournegligence.
Nothinginthiswarrantyshalllimitinanyway
ourliability:fordeathorpersonalinjurycaused
by our negligence; for fraud or fraudulent
misrepresentation;orforanymatterforwhich
itwouldbeillegalforustoexclude,orattempt
toexclude,ourliability.
Thepurchaserhasstatutoryrightsinaddition
to this warranty and this warranty does not
affectthosestatutoryrights.
This warranty shall be governed by and
construed in accordance with the laws of
Englandandthepartiesirrevocablysubmitto
thenon-exclusivejurisdictionofthecourtsof
England.

Warranty Registrations
The supplying retailer must explain the
warranty terms and conditions to you, and
complete the warranty registration process
on-line. Your warranty will start on the day
that the vehicle is rst registered in the UK
or 12 months from the date on which the
vehiclewasinvoicedtothesupplyingretailer,
whicheveristheearlier.
4. CENTRAL REGISTRATION AND
IDENTIFICATION SCHEME (C.R.i.S)
This caravan has been security marked and
recorded under CRiS; this is the Central
Registration and Identication Scheme
that issues touring caravan registration
documents,equivalenttotheV5registration
documentissuesbythe DVLA forcars. CRiS
was established in 1992 by the National
Caravan Council and provides a method of
registering the “keeper’” details of every
tourer manufactured by NCC member
companiestohelppreventanddetectcaravan-
relatedcrime.

bediestampedintothecaravandrawbarand

Cautions
To avoid possible damage to sewage
purication works, only approved chemical
uidsmustbeused.Undernocircumstances
may coal tar, phenol or caustic-based uids
beused.Disposablenappiesandsimilarbulky
itemsmustnotbeputintothechemicalcloset
emptying points but should be wrapped in a
polythene bag and placed in the container
provided. (Put all litter in containers marked
forthepurpose.)
Noise
Donotmakeexcessivenoise.
Children should be restrained from making
excessivenoise.
Flying kites and model aircraft and the use
ofitemslikecatapults or air gunsas wellas
ballgamesshouldnotbepermittedamong,or
closeto,caravans.
Musical instruments, music players, radios
and televisions should not be used to the
inconvenienceofotherpeopleonsite.

Powergeneratorsmustbeadequatelysilenced
andusedwithconsiderationandaccordingto
restrictedsitetimes.
Dogs and Pets
Alldogsandotherpetsshouldbekeptunder
control.
Unless permission has been granted, no
animal should be let loose on the site and
leadsshouldnotexceed3metres(10ft).
No animal should be allowed in the shower/
toiletblock.
Donotletanimalsfoulthesite.
Fire Precautions
!
Adhere to and make note of all re
precautionsincludingthewhereabouts
oftherepoints.
It is recommended that a 1kg (2.2lb) dry
powder re extinguisher is carried. It should
complywithBS5423ISO7465andbemarked
BSIorFOCapproved.Itisimportanttocheck
at regular intervals that the extinguisher
is working as is required by types meeting
BS 5423. Make sure that the use-by date is
frequentlychecked.
Careful thought is necessary for the
positioningofareextinguisher,whichshould
be near to the door but not too close to the
cookingequipmentwheresuddenamescould
makeitunreachable.Inthekitchenarea,are
blanketisaworthwhileprecaution.
Unlesspermissionhasbeengrantedbarbecues
should not be used. When permission has
been given, consideration should be given to
the annoyance that can be caused to other
usersofthesite.Openresarenotallowed.
Awnings and Tents
Awningsandtentsshouldonlybeusedwhen
permissionhasbeengranted.
When on grass and staying for more than a
fewdays,thegroundsheetand/orsideapsof
awningsshouldbeperiodicallyraisedinorder
toavoiddamagetotheground.
