Grounding
⚠WARNING
This machine must be grounded while in use to protect the operator from electrical shock. This
unit is equipped with an electrical cord that has an equipment grounding conductor and a
grounding plug. The plug MUST be plugged into a matching receptacle that is properly installed
and grounded in accordance with ALL local codes and ordinances.
DO NOT MODIFY THE PROVIDED PLUG. If it will not fit the receptacle, have the proper
receptacle installed by a qualified electrician.
CHECK with a qualified electrician or service person if you do not completely understand the

grounding instructions, or if you are not sure the tool is properly grounded.
Grounded Tools: Tools with 3-Prong Plugs
Tools marked with Grounding Required have a 3-wire cord and 3-prong grounding plug. The plug
must be connected to a properly grounded outlet. If the tool should electrically malfunction or break
down, grounding provides a low resistance path to carry electricity away from the user, reducing the
risk of electric shock. (See Figure A.)
The grounding prong in the plug is connected through the green wire inside the cord to the grounding
system in the tool. The green wire in the cord must be the only wire connected to the tool’s grounding
system and must never be attached to an electrically live terminal.
Your tool must be plugged into an appropriate outlet, properly installed and grounded in accordance
with all codes and ordinances. The plug and outlet should look like those in the following illustration.
Double Insulated Tools: Tools with Two-Prong Plugs
Tools marked Double Insulated do not require grounding. They have a special double insulation
system which satisfies OSHA requirements and complies with the applicable standards of
Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., the Canadian Standard Association, and the National Electrical Code.
(See Figure B.)
Double insulated tools may be used in either of the 120 volt outlets shown in the following illustration.
Extension Cords
⚠WARNING
USE A PROPER EXTENSION CORD. Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When
using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to carry the current your product will
draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage, resulting in loss of power and cause
overheating.
Be sure your extension cord is properly wired and in good condition. Always replace a damaged
extension cord or have it repaired by a qualified person before using it. Protect your extension

cords from sharp objects, excessive heat and damp or wet areas.
Grounded tools require a 3-wire extension cord. Double Insulated tools can use either a 2- or 3-
wire extension cord.
As the distance from the supply outlet increases, you must use a heavier gauge extension cord.
Using extension cords with inadequately sized wire causes a serious drop in voltage, resulting in
loss of power and possible tool damage.
The smaller the gauge number of the wire, the greater the capacity of the cord. For example, a
14-gauge cord can carry a higher current than a 16-gauge cord. Minimum extension cord wire
size is shown in the following table:

NOT RECOMMENDED
When using more than one extension cord to make up the total length, make sure each cord
contains at least the minimum wire size required.
If you are using one extension cord for more than one tool, add the nameplate amperes and use
the sum to determine the required minimum cord size.
If you are using an extension cord in damp locations, make sure it is marked with the suffix W-A
(Win Canada) to indicate it is acceptable for outdoor use.
Make sure your extension cord is properly wired and in good electrical condition. Always replace
a damaged extension cord or have it repaired by a qualified electrician before using it.
Protect your extension cords from sharp objects, excessive heat, and damp or wet areas.

DO NOT operate without guards in place.
Never allow air intake grill to become blocked.
Never discharge flammable solvents or kerosene based chemicals through the grill.
Do not use the blower in areas where flammable or combustible liquids, gases, vapors, dust,
fibers, or filings may be present.
Never put any object in the air intake grill.
1) The blower is completely assembled and ready to operate--only the duct must be attached. Upon
removing the blower and duct from the carton, inspect them for any possible damage in transit.
2) Before operating the blower, read all the safety precautions and general safety information about
the proper and safe use of the blower.
3) Assess your job site; certain job site locations are classified as being hazardous because the
atmosphere may contain gas vapor or dust in explosive quantities.
4) Locate a properly grounded outlet.
5) Prior to plugging the blower into a grounded outlet, inspect the inlet and outlet grills; remove debris
that may restrict airflow movement. Never operate the blower without the inlet and outlet grills
properly secured and in place. Never replace the grills with other than factory supplied
replacement units.
6) Note the directional airflow indicator on the external shell. This is the way the air moves.
7) Place the blower on secure footing to prevent it from shifting while in use.
8) Do not stand directly in front of and/or face the blower outlet. Personal injury can result from being
struck by debris thrown at a relatively high velocity from the blower blade.
9) If ducting is used, place end of duct over the blower end and note direction of the airflow.
10) When ducting is used, be aware that the airflow rate decreases as the length of duct increases.
Airflow rates will vary with specific duct types and manufactures.
11) Position blower air inlet away from walls and other obstructions to allow for maximum air intake.
12) For safe operation, use the blower only in combination with thorough gas detection tests and
continual retesting.
After Each Use
⚠WARNING
Be sure the blower is in the OFF position.
Inspect blower for damages.
Store in a secure, dry location.
Maintenance
⚠WARNING
Always shut off the blower and unplug it from its power source to prevent accidental starting and

the possibility of electrical shock and/or electrocution.
Be sure the fan blade has stopped rotating before placing any objects or fingers near the grill.
Do not pressure-wash the blower.
Visually check all fasteners and individual components for loose or broken parts. Tighten or
replace items as required, with genuine, factory approved replacement parts only.
Keep the blower blade clean from debris. Accumulation of dust, dirt, paint, etc., on the blower
blade will throw the blade rotation out of balance resulting in damage.
To clean the blower blade, be sure the plug is disconnected and the blade has stopped rotating.
Remove one grill and wipe the blade and interior shell housing clean of debris with a damp cloth
and mild liquid soap.
Dry all parts thoroughly.
Replace grill prior to next operation.
