Open Lid ofshippingcartonandremovetopsheetof
cardboardandpackingmaterials.Lay cardboardsheet
on floor and use as a work surface to protect floor and
sideburnerpartsfrom scratches.
Youmayslicethecartonfrontcornerswithautility
knifeto lay open the cartonfront panel. This allows
you to remove thecomponentspackedinsidebefore
lifting the sideburner out ofthe packaging.
Usethe Hardware and Part Diagramstoensure all
items are includedand free of damage.
Donotassembleoroperate the sideburner ifitap-
pears damaged.If there aredamagedormissingparts
whenyou unpack the shipping boxor you have ques-

ForsafeoperationensuretheGasValve Assem-
blyOrifice isinsidetheBurnerTubebeforeusing
your sideburner. See figure. If the Orifice is not
insidethe Burner Tube, lighting the Burner may
causeexplosion and/or fire resultinginserious
bodilyinjuryand/orpropertydamage.

METHOD 2: Use abottle brush withaflexible
handleandrunthebrushthroughthe Burner
Tubeand insidethe Burner severaltimesto
removeanydebris.
METHOD3: Use an air hoseto force air through
eachBurner Tube.The forcedairshould pass
debrisor obstructionsthrough the Burner and out
the Ports.

Carefully lift each Burner upandawayfrom theGas
ValveOrifice.
Check and clean Burner/Venturi Tubesfor insects
and insect nests. Aclogged tube can lead to afire
beneaththesideburner.
Spiders and small insects can spin webs and nest
inthe BurnerTubes duringtransitandwarehousing
which can lead toagas flowobstruction resulting
inafirein and around theBurnerTubes. Thistype
of"FLASHBACK FIRE"cancauseserious side
burnerdamageand create an unsafe operating
condition fortheuser.
Toreduce thechance of FLASHBACK FIRE
you must cleanthe Burner Tubes as follows
beforeinitial use. Alsodothisatleastoncea
monthin summer and fallor whenever spidersare
active in yourarea, and ifyour side burner has not
been used for an extended period oftime.
Removethe screwsfromthe undersideof the side
burnerbodyusingaPhillips HeadScrewdriver.

On the proper location, drill 3threadedholeson the island left bottompanelfor installingthe tank tray
set.Theninstalltanktray setusing3PanHeadScrews 3/16"x3/8"andtightensecurely.
Connectone end of thestainless steelflexibleconnectorto the gasmanifold and the other end to regulator
hose connector.Thenuseaclamptohold thestainless steel flexibleconnector asshowntosecure.
Place the LPgastank into the tank trayset. Make sure the tank valvefacing the right rear corner of left
island. Tightenthe wingboltto securetheLP gastank. (SeeFig. 2)
Connectthe LPregulatorontotheLP gastank.(Refertopage12)

Final Side Burner Assembly
Step
When youhavefinishedassembling your side
burner, be sure that allscrewsare tightened
forsafe operationofyourside burner.
Before each use of the side burner,make sure
theGrease Trayisfullyseated under theSide
BurnerBody.
CAUTION: Before each use of your Side Burner,
inspect the Grease Trayand inside of the Side
BurnerBodytobe surethere isnoexcessive
greaseand debris buildup. CleantheGreaseTray
and inside of the Side Burner Body
frequentlytoeliminate grease/debrisbuild-up
and topreventgreasefires.
Failure toopen Side Burner Lid during thelighting
procedurescouldresultinafireorexplosionthat
couldcause seriousbodilyinjury,death,orproperty
damage.

before each use of the sideburner. If your regulator
andhose aredamagedinany way,theymustbe
replaced prior to using the sideburner again.
Anyattempt toconvertyoursideburnerfromone fuel
type to another is extremelyhazardous and will void
the warranty.
Neverlightyourgassideburnerwiththelidclosed
or before checking to ensure the burners are fully
seatedover the gas valveorifices.
The LP Gastank must beconstructed and marked
in accordance with the Specifications forLP-Gas
Cylinders of the U.S. Department of Transportation
(D.O.T.) or the NationalStandard of Canada, CAN/
CSA-B339,Cylinders,Spheres and Tubesfor Trans-
portationofDangerousGoods;and Commission,as
applicable.
TheLP Gas tank must haveashutoff valve,termi-
natingin an LPGassupplytankvalveoutlet, thatis
compatible with aType1tank connectiondevice.The
LPGastankmustalsohave asafety reliefdevice
that hasadirectconnection withthe vapor space of
the tank.
Thetanksupplysystemmust be arranged for vapor
withdrawal.
TheLPGastankmust haveacollartoprotectthe
tank valve.

an "OPD"gas tank which offers alistedOverfill Prevention
Device. This safetyfeature prevents the tank frombeing

NOTE: Whenusing Propane (LP),EXTREMECAUTION
shouldbeusedtoprovideampleventilationof vapor
fromtheenclosure.LPGasvaporisheavierthanair
andSERIOUS INJURY fromaDANGEROUSEXPLO-
SIONcould occurifLPGas isallowedtoaccumulate
inan enclosure and thenignited. BoththeBarbeque
enclosure and LP cylinder enclosure require ventingthat
mustbe provided atthefloorlevel oftheenclosureto
allowanyleaking LPGas vaportoescape(seeFig.4).
NOTE: When installing abarbeque equippedfor liquid
propane (LP) in an island, theLP tankmust bein a
separate enclosure thatiscompletely isolatedfromthe
barbeque. It must be cross-ventilated in accordance with
localcodes.The LP tank MUST NEVER be installed
directlyunder the barbeque.
NOTE:Thetotaloftheupperventilation openingsmust
beaminimumof20sq.inches. The total of the lower
ventilation openingsmustbe aminimumof10 sq.
inches.Upperandlowerventilation openingsMUSTBE
PROVIDEDon both sides of built-inconstruction. The
top ofthe upper ventilations openings must be located
within5" from thetop oftheisland. The bottomof the
lowerventilation openingsmust beatleast1"orless
from theflooroftheisland.Thetopofthelower
ventilation openingscannotbemorethan5"fromthe
flooroftheisland.Everyventilation openingmusthave
aminimumof1/8"(See Fig. 3onpage8).Contacta

Propercare and maintenance will keep your side burner intop
operating conditionand prolong its life. Follow these cleaning
procedures on atimelybasisandyourside burnerwill stay
cleanandoperatewithminimum effort.
CAUTION: Be sureyoursideburner isOFFandcoolbefore
cleaning.
CleaningExterior Stainless Steel Surfaces:
Routine careand maintenance is required to preserve
theappearanceand corrosionresistanceofstainless
steel. The fact is stainlesssteel cancorrode, rustand
discolorundercertain conditions. Rust is caused when
regularsteel particlesinthe atmospherebecomeattached
to the stainless steel surface. Steel particlescanalso
becomeattached to your side burner ifyouuse steel wool
orstiffwire brushes tocleantheside burnerinsteadof
non-abrasivecloth, sponge or nylon cleaning tools. In
coastalareasrustpitscandeveloponstainless surfaces
that cannot be fullyremoved. Bleach and other chlorine
based solutionsused forhousehold and poolcleaning
canalsocausecorrosiontostainless steel. Weathering,
extreme heat, smokefromcooking and machine oilsused
in the manufacturing processof stainless steel can cause
stainlesssteel toturntanin color.Althoughthere aremany
factorswhichcan affect the surfaceappearanceofstain-
less steel,theydonot affect theintegrity of thesteelor the
performanceof theside burner.
To helpmaintainthe finishof stainlesssteel followthese
cleaningtipsforthe best results:
After everyuse (after your side burner has cooled down),
wipestainless surfaces with asoft, soapy cloth or sponge
thenrinsewithwater.Besuretoremoveallfoodparticles,
sauces or marinades fromstainless steel because these
can be highly acidic anddamagingto stainless surfaces.
Never useabrasive cleaners, scrubbers or stiffwire
brushesof anytype on your sideburner.
Useaheat resistant Stainless Steel Cleaner andrubor
wipe inthe direction ofthestainless steel grain or polish
lines.Do not polish against the grain.

After everyuse (after your side burner has cooled down),
wipestainless surfaces with asoft, soapy cloth or sponge
thenrinsewithwater.Besuretoremoveallfoodparticles,
sauces or marinades fromstainless steel because these
can be highly acidic anddamagingto stainless surfaces.
Never useabrasive cleaners, scrubbers or stiffwire
brushesof anytype on your sideburner.
Useaheat resistant Stainless Steel Cleaner andrubor
wipe inthe direction ofthestainless steel grain or polish
lines.Do not polish against the grain.
Rusting is a naturaloxidation processand willnot affect
theshorttermperformance ofyour side burner.
The Regulator and Hose supplied with mygasside
burner doesnotfit the older LPGastank I’veusedfor
years.Whynot?
The U.S. Government regulates gasappliances and LP
Gastanks.Whenregulations arechangedthe LP Gas
tank fittings arealtered to insure compliance.If your LP
Gas tankdoesnot fit the Regulator and Hosesupplied
withyour new side burner,the tankis outdatedand must
be replaced.Note:EffectiveApril 1,2002allLPGastanks
sold must include an “OPD”Overfill Prevention Device.
The OPDtanksare identifiedbytheir triangular-shaped
valvewheel.Thisinternaldevicepreventsthe LP Gas
tank from being overfilled.Tankswithout anOPDvalve
cannot berefilled.

under certain conditions. Rust is caused whenregular steel
particlesinthe atmospherebecome attachedtothestain-
less steel surface.Steel particlescanalso become attached
to your side burnerif youuse steelwool or stiff wirebrushes
tocleanthe sideburner insteadof non-abrasivecloth,
spongeor nyloncleaningtools. Incoastal areasrustpits
candevelop on stainless surfacesthatcannot befully
removed. Bleachand other chlorinebasedsolutions used
forhouseholdand poolcleaningcanalso cause corrosion
to stainless steel.
Weathering,extreme heat,smokefrom cookingandma-
chine oilsusedin the manufacturing processof stainless
steel cancause stainless steel to turn tan in color.Although
there are many factors which can affect the surface appear-
ance of stainless steel,they do not affect the integrity of the
steel or the performance of the side burner.To helpmain-
