IL-BKRCD
QuickstartinstallationguideforBeckerradioswithoptionalCDchanger
Radioswithoutauxoptioninclude, CR-21 CDR210,PCM1etc.
Created: May 12, 2009
Revised: November 11, 2019
Introduction:
Just because you drive an older car does not mean you have to settle for old
technology. IPods, Smartphones, iPads etc. let you enjoy music at the beach, at a
picnic, in the back yard and in your car. The following Becker Radios do not have
a dedicated AUX port: PCM1 (BE2580), CR210, CDR210, CR31, CR22, CDR22, CDR21,
and CR11 Radios therefore the optional CD Changer is required for this
adapter to work. (CD Changer remains connected but will no longer play). The
iL-BKRCD will play and charge Apple’s new Lightning devices. With the storage
capacity of most portable devices sacrificing the CD Changer should be an easy
decision.
Installation:
We recommend disconnecting the car battery. But before
anything locate and record the radio safe code. Don’t
disconnect battery if radio code is not available, otherwise
radio will cease to operate.
1. Remove radio from dash to gain access to the connectors. A set of
Radio removal tools (See Fig. 1) is required.

2. Slide tools into slots (51) on radio. (Straight edge facing away). Withdraw
radio by pulling outwards. To release keys simply press retaining springs.
See Fig. 2. Click here for detailed use of removal tools.
3. Disconnect blue (C-3) green (C-2) plugs and yellow (C-1) plugs from radio
cavity (See Fig. 3)

4. Connect vehicle radio harness yellow, blue and green iso plugs to
harness 20-pin connector (See Fig. 4)
5. Connect harness yellow, blue and green plugs to radio chambers
vacated on step 3 (See Fig. 3)
6. Run Lightning cable (See Fig. 5) to desired mounting location on
dashboard, glove box, console etc. Use caution to not cut, pinch or
crimp cable during this step.
7. Securely install cable in location away from heat, humidity, moving
parts, or sharp metal objects. Damage to lightning plug may occur if
subject to abuse.

8. Reinstall radio. Enter radio code (if required) and proceed to test
operation.
Test Operation
1. Connect Apple device (iPod, iPhone, iPad) to Lightning plug
2. Apple device will begin charging
3. Turn radio “ON” and press CD button to enter changer mode
Note: If radio does not enter changer mode, check that there is at
least one disc (CD) in magazine. (At least one disc must remain in
magazine)
4. Select favorite track using device built-in controls.
5. Set playback level using radio volume control button
A working CD changer REQUIRED for this adapter to
function on Porsche PCM1 (BE2580), CR-210,
CDR-210, CR-22 and CDR-22 and any other
Becker without AUX menu setting. Please do not
purchase this part if your vehicle does not have a
functioning analog CD changer.
Frequently asked questions
1. Why is your cable better than those offered elsewhere?
Our cable is better because it uses Apple Authentic digital to analog
converter chip. The knock off cables requires two wires; one for charging
(8-pin Lightning) and one for audio (3.5mm). Our cable has a single 8-pin
Lightning plug that works as intended and will not damage your device.
2. My vehicle does not have a CD changer. Will the iL-BKRCD work?
NO; CD Changer is required for the aforementioned radios to work with
this adapter and must contain at least one disc for operation.
3. Does the iL-BKRCD work on all Becker Radios?
NO; the iL-BKRCD works on any Becker radio with a working CD changer
connection.
4. Do you offer an adapter that works on Becker radio that has “AUX”
menu option and no CD changer?
YES; Purchase our iL-BKR adapter.
5. Can I control Apple devices from my radio buttons?
NO; you must continue to use Apple built-in controls and display to
operate the device. Radio volume button is used to set playback level.
