st nd rds in pr ctice mp engineering. When developing the GM110, our prim ry objective w s to reproduce
the uthentic sound of n log guit r mplifiers nd t the s me time provide you with tool for str ightforw rd
recording. The concept of intuitive oper tion rem ined centr l consider tion.
BEHRINGER is n udio engineering comp ny th t h s been successfully developing products for studio nd
live pplic tions for m ny ye rs. Our r nge of products includes microphones nd v riety of 19" devices
(compressors, enh ncers, noise g tes, tube processors, he dphone mps, digit l effects devices, DI boxes,
etc.), s well s v rious monitoring nd P.A. spe kers, plus profession l live nd recording consoles. The

1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 The design concept
The philosophy behind BEHRINGER products gu r ntees no-compromise circuit design nd employs the
best choice of components. The oper tion l mplifiers employed by BEHRINGER nd used in the VINTAGER
GM110 re exception l: they bo st extreme line rity nd very low distortion ch r cteristics. To complement
this, the choice of components includes low-toler nce resistors nd c p citors, high-qu lity potentiometers
nd switches, nd sever l other c refully selected elements.
The GM110 uses SMD technology (Surf ce Mounted Device). These submini ture components d pted from
erosp ce technology, llow for n extreme p cking density to further improve the over ll reli bility.
The robust steel-pl te enclosure of your VINTAGER GM110, with its generously dimensioned power supply,
ensures th t your GM110 will never f il on the st geeven when the going gets tough. The enclosure is m de
of high-gr de, environment lly-friendly MDF wood, which consists of multiple tongued/glued l yers.
1.1.1 DYNAMIZER technology and analog amp modeling
The mplific tion of electric l instruments is cruci l point t which the re lly good instruments prove their
mettle. This is bec use, unlike sign ls th t h ve been mixed nd m stered, sign ls from electric l instruments
gener lly h ve extremely high sign l pe ks, which push the dyn mics of n mplifier circuit to their limits. An
mps re ction to these is thus one of its essenti l properties.
This is why we h ve fitted the GM110 with our unique p tent pending DYNAMIZER pre mp st ge. With sign l
pe ks, this gu r ntees lively sound th t delivers powerful punch, even when the mp is working t its
perform nce limit. In conjunction with our n log mp modeling, you not only h ve m zingly uthentic tube
sounds, but lso dyn mic properties th t re ch r cteristic of n mplifier of this kind. Cre te cryst l-cle r
guit r sounds with tr nsp rency, w rmth nd compression typic l of tube. With incre sing distortion, the
sound rem ins lively nd powerful without losing ny of its imp ct.

1.1.2 JENSEN loudspeakers
Since Peter Jensen produced his first loudspe ker in 1923, the comp ny JENSEN h s resh ped the entire
communic tion industry. With the incre sing dem nd for innov tive guit r nd b ss mps in the fifties nd
sixties, the dem nd for JENSEN lso grew. All over the world, JENSEN w s considered the industri l st nd rd,
nd the JENSEN sound w s synonymous with rock n roll. Tod y, too, these vint ge loudspe kers re much
coveted by top musici ns nd collectors the world over. High-profile m nuf cturers from the USA nd Gre t
Brit in used JENSEN loudspe kers for their top-of-the-r nge models. It is indisput ble th t loudspe kers h ve
n enormous influence on the sound of guit r mp. And this is why JENSEN h s continued to m nuf cture
nd further develop these legend ry loudspe kers, which h ve contributed to the history of modern music.

1.2 Before you begin
The GM110 w s c refully p cked in the f ctory to gu r ntee s fe tr nsport tion. Nevertheless, we recommend
th t you c refully ex mine the p ck ging nd its contents for ny signs of physic l d m ge, which m y h ve
occurred during tr nsit.
+If the unit is damaged, please do not return it to BEHRINGER, but notify your dealer and the
shipping company immediately, other ise claims for damage or replacement may not be
valid.
Be sure th t there is enough sp ce round the unit for cooling nd ple se do not pl ce the VINTAGER GM110
on high temper ture devices such s r di tors, etc. to void overhe ting.
+Before you connect your GM110 to the mains, please make sure that your local voltage matches
the voltage required by the unit!

1. INTRODUCTION
Three tri ngul r m rkings c n be found on the circuit bre ker t the AC power connection socket. Two of these
three tri ngles will be ligned with one nother. The VINTAGER GM110 is set to the oper ting volt ge shown
next to these m rkings nd c n be switched over by twisting the circuit bre ker by 180°. IMPORTANT: this
does not apply to export models designed only for 115V AC!
The m ins connection is m de by using the enclosed m ins c ble nd st nd rd IEC recept cle. It meets the
necess ry intern tion l s fety certific tion requirements.
+Please make sure that all units have a proper ground connection. For your o n safety, never
remove or disable the ground conductor of the unit or of the AC po er cable. You can eliminate
humming problems caused by grounding at the D.I. OUT by pressing the GND s itch
(groundlift, ).
1.3 Control elements

1INPUT is the GM110s 1/4" j ck input for your guit r. Use commerci l 1/4" j ck mono c ble (not from
DIY shop, but from speci list music de ler).
2The DRIVE control determines the mplific tion in the input section. It llows you to finely tune the
GM110 preset to the output level of your guit r pick-up (depending on selected mp, mode nd spe ker
combin tion) in order to chieve the desired degree of distortion.
+Use the DRIVE control to set the desired sound and use the LEVEL control to set the desired
volume!
3The AMP switch en bles you to emul te the b sic sounds from three guit r mp designs; these re
b sed on cl ssic mp models nd will be f mili r to you from numerous recordings. The TWEED setting
delivers tr nsp rent sounds, cle r s bell, with dyn mic b ss response. The BRITISH setting h s n
ggression th t comes str ight from the he rt nd is powerful with n unmist k ble bility to m ke itself
he rd. Fuller nd more b l nced, nd yet subtly differenti ted, the CALIF(ORNIAN) setting is p rticul rly
suit ble for singing le d sounds.
4With the MODE switch, you choose between one of three possible g in settings (CLEAN,
HI GAIN nd HOT) to chieve the b sic sound selected with the AMP switch.
5The SPEA ER switch provides you with simul tions of two cl ssic guit r loudspe kers:
4x12"-loudspe kers in closed b ck enclosure (U.K.), nd 2x12" loudspe kers, open b ck (U.S.). In
ddition, we h ve lso inst lled further frequency response correction (FLAT) th t is speci lly d pted
to the GM110 enclosure.

8The HIGH control governs the upper frequency r nge.
9With the LEVEL control, you determine the over ll nd he dphone volume of your VINTAGER GM110.
It should be set fully to the left when you oper te the POWER switch or disconnect the instrument c ble
from the guit r or mp.
10 Use the POWER switch to put the GM110 into oper tion.

11 FUSEHOLDER / VOLTAGE SELECTION. Before you connect the device to the network, ple se m ke
sure th t your loc l volt ge m tches the volt ge indic ted on the unit. Blown fuses m y only be repl ced
by fuses of the s me type nd r ting. Some models llow for inserting the fuse holder in two different
positions in order to switch over from 230 V to 115 V oper tion, nd vice vers . Ple se note th t, for
115 V oper tion outside Europe, you need to use fuse of higher r ting. The network connection is
m de vi STANDARD IEC INLET SOC ET. Use the enclosed power cord to connect the unit to the
m ins.
12 SERIAL NUMBER. Ple se t ke the time to fill out the w rr nty c rd within 14 d ys of purch sing the
device, otherwise you will lose your extended w rr nty. Or simply register online t www.behringer.com.
13 You c n use the SPEA ER socket to connect n ddition l loudspe ker to your VINTAGER GM110.
The extern l loudspe ker should h ve n imped nce of 8 Ohms. When using this socket, the intern l
loudspe ker is muted. For ddition l inform tion on connecting n extern l loudspe ker, refer to
ch pter 4.1.
14 The 6.3 mm PHONES j ck llows you to monitor the GM110s udio sign l with p ir of commerci lly
v il ble he dphones. As soon s this socket is used, the loudspe ker will be muted.
+Since speakers can have quite an impact on the sound of a guitar amp, both the headphones
and D.I. OUT signals are frequency-corrected ( ith speaker correction). Without this frequency
correction extreme treble frequencies ould deteriorate the sound.
+Lo -impedance headphones may begin to produce distortion at certain volume levels. In
such cases, please reduce the volume by turning back the LEVEL control.
15 At the D.I. OUT output (b l nced XLR socket), you c n t p the udio sign l of the VINTAGER GM110
in order, for ex mple, to feed it into mixing console nd record it. This udio sign l is frequency-
corrected (Spe ker Simul tion). The level of the D.I. OUT (m x. +22 dBu) is designed to provide simple
connection to mixers or other udio devices.
16 With the GND LIFT switch, you c n unplug the electric l bonding of the D.I. OUT, if ground loop or
humming problems occur.

17 FX SEND is the output socket for the seri l effects p th of the GM110. You c n use this to loop in the
extern l effects (e.g. w h-w h ped l) or to connect n extern l power mplifier, should you require
gre ter output. The intern l sign l p th will not be interrupted. The frequency-corrected sign l t the
FX SEND socket is ffected by ll GM110 controls.
18 The output of the looped-in effects device is connected to the FX RETURN socket. When you connect
c ble to this socket, you interrupt the intern l sign l p th.
+Please note that, hen using the serial effects path, the effects device ill control the level of
et (affected) signal to dry (direct) signal.
2. WIRING TIPS
2.1 Standard set-up consisting of guitar, external effects de ice and simultaneous
recording
To use your VINTAGER GM110 for rehe rs ls, in the studio or on st ge, ple se wire up the unit s shown in
fig. 2.1. Of course, you c n lso use w h-w h or other ped l effect inste d of the extern l 19" effects unit.
Connecting the he dphones will mute the built-in spe ker.

If you wish to use guit r tuner, ple se connect it to the FX SEND of your VINTAGER GM110. If there is no
further effects device connected, you c n le ve the FX RETURN s it is. When using n extern l effects device,
the tuner should be pl ced before the effects device to prevent the tuner from receiving ny effects sign l.
