of this product. They contain important information about safety, usage and
disposal. Before using the product, please familiarise yourself with all operating
and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and for the range of
applications specified. Please also pass these operating instructions on to any

Safety information
DANGER – RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
► Ensure that the mains cable never becomes wet or damp
when the appliance is in use. Route the cable so that it cannot
be trapped or damaged in any way.
► Arrange for defective power plugs and/or cables to be
replaced as soon as possible by a qualified technician or by
our Customer Service Department to avoid the risk of injury.
► Always remove the plug from the mains power socket after
use. Switching the appliance off is not sufficient; it will remain
live for as long as the plug is connected to the power socket.
► Check the appliance for visible external damage before use.
Do not operate an appliance that has been damaged or
dropped.
► All repairs on the appliance must be carried out by autho-
rised specialist companies or Customer Service. Improper
repairs may put the user at risk. It will also invalidate any
warranty claims.
► Ensure that the appliance, the power cable and the plug do
not come into contact with heat sources such as hotplates or
naked flames.
► Do not allow any liquid to run over the appliance’s plug
connections.
Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid!
There is a risk of fatal electric shock if residual liquids come
into contact with live components during operation.

► Ensure that the appliance is stable and vertical before
switching it on.
► Appliances may be used by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities, or a lack of experience and/or
knowledge only if they are supervised or have been instructed
how to use the appliance safely and have understood the
potential risks.
► This appliance may be used by children aged 8years or
over, if they are supervised or have been told how to use
the appliance safely and are aware of the potential risks.
Cleaning and user maintenance tasks must not be carried
out by children unless they are aged 8 years or over and are
supervised. The appliance and its connecting cable must be
kept away from children younger than 8 years old.
► Do not allow children to use the appliance as a plaything.
► Disconnect the plug and allow the appliance to cool down
each time before cleaning.
► Misuse may result in physical injury! Use the appliance only
as described in the instructions!

► Do not use an external timer switch or a separate remote
control system to operate the appliance.
► Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
► Do not clean any components of the appliance in a dishwasher.

Preparations
Unpacking
ƇRemove the appliance and the operating instructions from the carton.
ƇRemove all packaging material.
Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance from damage during transport. The pack-
aging materials have been selected for aspects of environmental friendliness and
disposal, and they are therefore recyclable.
Returning the packaging to the material cycle conserves raw materials and
reduces the amount of waste that is generated. Dispose of packaging materials
that are no longer needed in accordance with applicable local regulations.
NOTE
► If possible, keep the appliance's original packaging during the warranty
period so that the appliance can be packed properly for return shipment
in the event of a warranty claim.

First use
WARNING – RISK OF INJURY!
► Only use fresh drinking water! Do not consume any water that is not certi-
fied as drinkable. If you do, you are taking a risk with your health!
Before starting to use the appliance, ensure that ...
– the appliance, power plug and power cord are in perfect condition and ...
– all packaging materials have been removed from the appliance.
1) Remove the water tank by holding its handle and slightly tipping the tank
out of the appliance.
2) Fill the water tank . The water level must always reach at least the MIN
mark and never exceed the MAX mark on the water tank .
3) Place the water tank back in the appliance.
4) Place the capsule container on the drip tray (see fold-out page).
Place the grille of the "Lungo" stand on the drip tray .
5) Push the capsule container with the drip tray forwards into the appliance.
6) If opened: Push down the lever to the lowest possible position.
7) Fold the "Espresso" stand , located on the capsule container , upwards.
8) Place a cup under the coffee dispenser on the "Lungo" stand .
9) Insert the plug into a mains power socket.
10) Switch on the appliance by pressing the Espresso or Lungo
button. Both buttons flash to indicate that the appliance is heating up. As
soon as both buttons light up permanently, the appliance has heated up.
11) Press the Lungo button. Water flows through the pipes and cleans the
appliance. Residues resulting during production are flushed out of the pipes.
12) Repeat this process 3 times. If necessary, empty the cup from time to time.
The appliance is now ready for use.

Coffee / Espresso making
NOTE
► This appliance is suitable for Lidl capsules as well as capsules of the brand
"Nespresso".
1) Fill the water tank with fresh water .
2) Press the Espresso or Lungo button to switch on the appliance.
The Espresso and Lungo buttons flash to indicate that the
appliance is heating up. As soon as the buttons light up permanently, the
appliance has heated up.
3) Pull the lever upwards and place a capsule in the capsule compartment .
4) Press the lever downwards so that it is fully closed.
5) If you wish to prepare Espresso, fold the "Espresso" stand on the capsule
compartment downwards and place a suitable cup on it.
6) If you wish to prepare a Lungo, place a suitable cup on the "Lungo" stand ,
located on the drip tray .
7) Press the Espresso or Lungo button once. The appliance starts
preparation and coffee flows out of the coffee dispenser . The appliance
automatically stops dispensing coffee.
NOTE
► If you press the Espresso or Lungo button before the
appliance has finished heating up, the coffee dispenser will start as
soon as the appliance has heated up.
► You can stop the coffee preparation at any time by pressing the
Espresso or Lungo button.
8) If you now pull the lever upwards, e.g. in order to place a new capsule in
the capsule compartment , the used, empty capsule will automatically fall
into the capsule container .
9) Empty the capsule container as soon as it is full (approx. 9 - 11 capsules).
10) After approx. 50 Espresso/Lungo preparations (cycles), clean the capsule
compartment with the cleaning brush -provided.

Setting the amount of coffee
You can adjust the amount of water that is pressed through the capsule. Select
less water if you prefer strong coffee; set a larger amount of water if you prefer
your coffee mild.
The appliance is preset to 40 ml for Espresso and 110 ml for Lungo.
Proceed as follows to set the amount of water:
■ To set the amount of water for Espresso:
Press and hold the Espresso button until the desired amount of water
has flowed through. As soon you release the Espresso button , the
pump stops and the appliance stores the amount of water that has flowed
through for the next preparations.
The pump stops automatically once a water volume of 200 mil has flowed
through.
NOTE
► You can set water volumes between 25 and 200 ml.
■ To set the amount of water for Lungo:
Press and hold the Lungo button until the desired amount of water
has flowed through. As soon you release the Lungo button , the pump
stops and the appliance saves the amount of water that has flowed through
for the next preparations.
The pump stops automatically once a water volume of 200 mil has flowed
through.
NOTE
► You can set water volumes between 25 ml and 200 ml.
Turning off the appliance
■ Press the Espresso and Lungo button at the same time (see
Fig. 1). The buttons go dark and the appliance switches itself off.

■ After 15 or 30 minutes, the appliance will switch itself off automatically if
you have not pressed any button in the meantime. See section "Setting power
saving mode / standby time" to set the standby time.
Resetting to factory settings
If you reset the appliance to the factory settings, 40 ml water will be dispensed
for Espresso and 110 ml for Lungo. The standby time is 15 minutes.
The appliance needs to be switched off to reset it to the factory settings (no
button lights up).
Press and hold the Lungo button for 5 seconds. The Espresso and
Lungo buttons flash 3 times in succession to indicate that the appliance
has been reset.
After resetting the settings, the Espresso and Lungo buttons flash
slowly to indicate that the appliance is heating up.
Emptying the system
If you do not intend to use the appliance for long periods, we recommend empty-
ing the appliance. This ensures there is no water in the pipes, which would cause
germs or limescale.
The appliance is switched off.
1) Remove the water tank and empty it.
2) Pull the lever upwards.
3) Place a cup under the coffee dispenser on the "Lungo" stand .
4) Press and hold the Espresso and Lungo buttons for about
3 seconds. The Espresso and Lungo buttons flash alternately.
The appliance starts the emptying and then switches off automatically.
NOTE
► The appliance is blocked for 10 minutes after emptying the system. This
means the appliance will not respond to any buttons. If you press a button,
the Espresso and Lungo buttons flash to indicate that the
appliance is currently being emptied.

Setting power-saving mode / standby time
You can set the time required for the appliance to switch off automatically to
either 15 minutes or 30 minutes without pressing a button.
The appliance is switched off and the lever is pressed down.
1) Press and hold the Espresso button for approx. 3 seconds. Its conse-
quent flashing indicates which standby time is set.
–Espresso button flashes once = Standby time of 15 minutes is set.
–Espresso button flashes twice in succession = Standby time of
30 minutes is set.
2) Press the Espresso button once in order to change between the two
standby times.
3) Once the desired standby time is set, press and hold the Lungo
button until both buttons flash so as to quit setting mode.
The appliance starts to heat up.
Cleaning and maintenance
DANGER – RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
► Before cleaning the appliance, disconnect the power plug from the mains
power socket! Otherwise there is the risk of electric shock!
► Never open any parts of the housing. There are no serviceable parts
whatsoever inside. When the housing is open, there is the risk of receiving
a potentially fatal electrical shock. This does not apply to the capsule
compartment.
Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid! There is a
risk of fatal electric shock if residual liquids come into contact with live
components during operation.
WARNING – RISK OF INJURY!
► Allow the appliance to cool sufficiently before cleaning it. Risk of burns!
CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE!
► Do not use abrasive or caustic cleaning agents. These can attack the
surface and damage the appliance beyond repair.
■ Pull the capsule container out of the appliance and pull it carefully for-
wards off the drip tray . Empty the capsule container and drip tray .

■ Clean the drip tray with the "Lungo" stand and capsule container
with the "Espresso" stand in warm water with a little washing-up liquid.
Rinse all the parts off afterwards using clean water and dry them.
■ Rinse the water tank with clean water.
■ Clean all exterior surfaces of the appliance, coffee dispenser and power
cable with a moistened cloth. Always dry the appliance properly before using
it again. For stubborn soiling, use a mild detergent on the cloth. Ensure that
there is no detergent residue on or in the appliance before using it again.
Cleaning when clogged
Damp coffee powder might clog/block the appliance. As a result, water can
no longer run through the pipes and no Espresso/Lungo is dispensed from the
coffee dispenser . If this happens, proceed as follows:
■ If you have already started a preparation process:
–Stop the preparation process by pressing the Espresso or Lungo
button.
–Wait 25 seconds so that the pressure can be relieved in the capsule
compartment .
–Open the capsule compartment , by pulling the lever upwards and
remove the capsule.
■ Remove the foils from the front and rear of a used capsule. Use a small knife
if necessary. Rinse the capsules out thoroughly to remove any coffee powder
residues.
■ Clean the capsule compartment with the cleaning brush -provided.
■ Insert the empty capsule and close the capsule compartment .
■ Make sure that there is enough water in the water tank and place a
sufficiently sized cup on the "Lungo" stand .
■ Press the Lungo button once. Water is flushed through the appliance.
Repeat this process 2 to 3 times.
■ After flushing 2 to 3 times, the appliance should be free of blockages/resi-
dues again.

Descaling the appliance
CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE!
► Never use vinegar for descaling the appliance. Vinegar attacks the hose
lines of the appliance and can damage these irreparably.
Scale deposits on the bottom of the appliance lead to increased energy con-
sumption and reduce the service life of the appliance.
Descale the appliance as soon as scale deposits become apparent, using the
table below as an orientation:
Water hardness Descaling after...
soft 1200 cycles
medium 600 cycles
hard 300 cycles
Ask your local water utility to find out how hard your water is.
1) Empty the capsule container and drip tray (see section "Cleaning and
maintenance") and push both back into the appliance.
2) Add commercial descaler for coffee machines to the water tank and fill
this with water. Follow the data for the descaler when doing so, but never
exceed the MAX mark on the water tank .
3) Place a sufficiently sized cup on the "Lungo" stand .
4) Switch on the appliance by pressing the Espresso or Lungo
button.
5) After the appliance has heated up, press and hold the Espresso and
Lungo buttons simultaneously for about 3 seconds. Both buttons
begin to flash and the appliance is in descaling mode.
6) Press the Lungo button. The appliance pumps water through the pipes
until the water tank is empty.
NOTE
► The descaling process can be stopped and continued again at any time by
pressing the Lungo button.
7) After the appliance has stopped the pumping process, pour the collected
descaling solution into the water tank once again.
8) Press the Lungo button. The descaling solution is pumped through the
appliance again.
9) Remove the water tank from the appliance after it has been pumped
empty.

10) Rinse the water tank with clean water and then fill it with clean water up
to the MAX mark.
11) Push the water tank back into the appliance and press the Lungo
button. The pipes are now flushed with clean water.
12) As soon as the water tank is empty, press and hold the Espresso and
Lungo buttons until the Espresso and Lungo buttons flash
slowly in order to quit descaling mode.
Storage
■ If you do not intend using the appliance for long periods, empty all pipes
(see section "Emptying the system").
■ Allow the appliance cool down completely before putting it into storage.
■ Store the appliance at a clean and dry location.

Disposal of the appliance
Never dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste.
This product is subject to the provisions of European Directive
2012/19/EU.
Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal facility or your municipal
waste facility. Please observe the currently applicable regulations. Please contact
your waste disposal centre if you are in any doubt.

Dear Customer,
This appliance has a 3-year warranty valid from the date of purchase. If this product
has any faults, you, the buyer, have certain statutory rights. Your statutory rights
are not restricted in any way by the warranty described below.
Warranty conditions
The validity period of the warranty starts from the date of purchase. Please keep
your original receipt in a safe place. This document will be required as proof of
purchase.
If any material or production fault occurs within three years of the date of purchase
of the product, we will either repair or replace the product for you at our discretion.
This warranty service is dependent on you presenting the defective appliance
and the proof of purchase (receipt) and a short written description of the fault
and its time of occurrence.
If the defect is covered by the warranty, your product will either be repaired or
replaced by us. The repair or replacement of a product does not signify the begin-
ning of a new warranty period.
Warranty period and statutory claims for defects
The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs effected under the warranty.
This also applies to replaced and repaired components. Any damage and defects
present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking.
Repairs carried out after expiry of the warranty period shall be subject to a fee.

Scope of the warranty
This appliance has been manufactured in accordance with strict quality guidelines
and inspected meticulously prior to delivery.
The warranty covers material faults or production faults. The warranty does not
extend to product parts subject to normal wear and tear or fragile parts such as
switches, batteries, baking moulds or parts made of glass.
The warranty does not apply if the product has been damaged, improperly used
or improperly maintained. The directions in the operating instructions for the product
regarding proper use of the product are to be strictly followed. Uses and actions
that are discouraged in the operating instructions or which are warned against
must be avoided.
This product is intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes.
The warranty shall be deemed void in cases of misuse or improper handling, use
of force and modifications/ repairs which have not been carried out by one of
our authorised Service centres.
Warranty claim procedure
To ensure quick processing of your case, please observe the following instructions:
■ Please have the till receipt and the item number (e.g. IAN 12345) available
as proof of purchase.
■ You will find the item number on the type plate, an engraving on the front
page of the instructions (bottom left), or as a sticker on the rear or bottom of
the appliance.
■ If functional or other defects occur, please contact the service department
listed either by telephone or by e-mail.
■ You can return a defective product to us free of charge to the service address
that will be provided to you. Ensure that you enclose the proof of purchase
(till receipt) and information about what the defect is and when it occurred.
