Safety warning and notice
Before operating the camera, please make sure that you read and fully understand the content in
this section. If you ignore and violate all safety warning notices indicated in this section, the
camera warranty may be void. Meanwhile, not only the camera but also you and all other people
and things around you may be severely damaged, injured, or even placed in danger of death.
For your safety
Keep the camera and its accessories out of the reach of babies, toddlers, and children. In
particular, small parts such as memory cards and batteries could be easily dismantled and
swallowed by them.
Use only the original accessories to avoid possible risks to health and property, and thus meet
all related legal regulations.
Do not dismantle the camera under any circumstances.
When using the flash, do not go too close to human eyes (particularly for babies, toddlers, and
children) or animal eyes. Otherwise, when the flash fires, the light may cause damage to
human eyes or irritate animals.
Batteries could explode, for instance. All batteries can cause property damage, injury or burns
if a conductive material such as jewelry, keys or beaded chains touch exposed terminals. The
material may complete an electrical circuit and become quite hot. Exercise care in handling
any battery, particularly when placing it inside your pocket, purse, or other container with
metal objects. Do not dispose of batteries in fire as they may explode.
To prevent electric shock, do not attempt to disassemble or repair your camera by yourself.
Some camera models accept non-rechargeable batteries. When using these batteries, do not
charge them. Otherwise, dangers such as explosion and fire may occur.
Warranty
Warranty is void if damage or system failure occurred due to outside factors such as collision,
fire, flood, dirt, sewage, earthquake, and other force majeure events as well as incorrect
usage of electricity or use of non-original accessories.
It is the sole responsibility of the user if problems (such as data loss and system failure)
occurred due to non-factory installed software, parts, and/or non-original accessories.
Do not change the camera. Any changes to the camera invalidate the warranty.
Taking care of your camera
Always keep the camera in the accompanying leather case or pouch for better protection
against splashes, dust, and collision.
The only way of replacing the batteries and the memory card is to open the battery cover and
memory card cover.
Dispose of unwanted batteries and cameras as permitted by the laws in your countries.
Water may cause a fire or electric shock. Therefore, store your camera in a dry place.
If your camera becomes wet, wipe it with a dry cloth as soon as possible.
Salt or seawater may cause severe camera damage.
Do not drop, knock, or shake the camera. A rude behavior of using the camera may damage
the internal electronic circuit board, deform the lens shape, or make the lens unretractable.
Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the camera.
Finger grease may be left on the camera lens and will result in unclear images or videos. To
avoid this problem, be sure to clean the camera lens before taking pictures or recording
videos. You should also clean the camera lens on a regular basis.

If the lens is dirty, use a lens brush or soft cloth to clean the lens.
Do not touch the lens with your fingers.
If a foreign substance or water gets in your camera, please turn the power off immediately and
disconnect the batteries. Next, remove the foreign substance or water and send it to the
maintenance center.
Whenever there is data in the internal memory or the external memory card, you should make
a backup copy to a computer or disc. So, you can have a backup solution if data loss occurs.
If the lens cannot retract into the camera, please replace the batteries first (usually this is
because of drained batteries). Then the lens should retract automatically. If the lens still
cannot retract, please contact your dealer.
Under no circumstances should you push the lens back manually as this may damage the
camera.
All original accessories are designed only for use with this camera model you purchased. Do
not use these accessories with other camera models or cameras of other brands to avoid
unpredictable danger or damage.
Before initial use of a memory card, always use the camera to format the card first.
Remember to slide the write-protect tab (if available) to the unlock position. Otherwise, all
data (if any) on the memory card is protected and the card cannot be edited or formatted.
Operating environment
Do not use or store your camera in the environments listed below:
Direct sunlight
Dusty places
Next to an air conditioner, electric heater or other heat sources
In a closed car that is in direct sunlight
Unstable locations
Do not use your camera outdoors when it is raining or snowing.
Do not use your camera in or near water.
The camera operating temperature is between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius. It is normal for the
operating time to be shortened when the temperature is low.
The capacity of your camera batteries will reduce each time it is charged/emptied.
Storage at too high or low temperatures will also result in a gradual capacity loss. As a result,
the operating time of your camera may be considerably reduced.
It is normal for the camera to become warm during operation, because the camera casing can
conduct heat.

The LCD display on this camera is manufactured with sophisticated technology, and
more than 99.99% of the pixels on the LCD display meet standard specifications. Yet, it
is possible that less than 0.01% of the pixels on the LCD display may have some light
spots or show unusual colors. This is normal and does not indicate display malfunction,
nor will this affect the pictures you take with the camera.
The LCD monitor looks darker in strong sunlight or bright light. This is not a malfunction.
To prevent your images from being blurred while pressing the shutter button, always
hold the camera steady. This is especially important when you are shooting under low
lighting conditions, under which your camera may reduce the shutter speed to ensure
your images are properly exposed.

Do not hold the camera by excessive
force. Plus, be sure to protect the
camera from strong impacts.
To avoid accidental falling, please attach
the hand strap to the camera and always
hold the camera by keeping the hand
strap around your wrist.
If the batteries suddenly depleted and
caused the lens fail to retract, please
carefully protect the lens to avoid
collision and insert batteries with full
power ASAP.
When the camera is not in use, always
turn the power off and make sure the
lens has retracted successfully before
storing the camera in its case. If you do
not intend to use the camera for a long
time, please remove the batteries
from the camera and store the batteries
carefully.
Keep your camera away from sharp
objects and avoid collision.
When the camera is not in use, please
place it in a steady place. Plus, always
keep your camera away from pressure
or any other similar environment
(for example, in a pant pocket) to
avoid possible damage.

Capturing high-quality digital images is fast and easy with this state-of-the-art smart
camera. Equipped with a 14.0-megapixel CCD, this camera is capable of capturing
images with a resolution of up to 4288X3216 pixels.

GETTING STARTED
Preparation
1. Attach the camera strap.
2. Open the battery/memory card cover.
3. Insert the supplied batteries with correct orientation as shown.
4. Insert an SD/SDHC memory card (Optional).
The camera has 32MB internal memory (23MB available for image storage), but
you can load an SD/SDHC memory card to expand the camera’s memory
capacity.
Be sure to format the memory card with this camera before its initial usage.
5. Close the battery/memory card cover and make sure it is locked securely.
To prevent valuable data from being accidentally erased from an
SD/SDHC memory card, you can slide the write protect tab (on
the side of the SD/SDHC memory card) to “LOCK”.
To save, edit, or erase data on an SD/SDHC memory card, you
must unlock the card.
To prevent damaging of an SD/SDHC memory card, be sure to
turn off the power when inserting or removing the SD/SDHC
memory card. If inserting or removing the SD/SDHC memory card with the power on, the camera will
automatically turn off.
High-capacity (such as 2500 mAh) rechargeable batteries are recommended.
Carbon-zinc the batteries are not recommended.
Remove the batteries from the camera if you do not intend to use the camera for a long time.
If the lens cannot retract into the camera, please replace the batteries first (usually this is because of
drained batteries). Then the lens should retract automatically. (Under no circumstances should you push
the lens back manually as this may damage the camera.) If the lens still cannot retract, please contact
your dealer.
The AA batteries that came with the camera are not rechargeable.

Initial Settings
The language & date/time needs to be set if and when:
The camera is turned on for the first time.
The camera is turned on after leaving the camera without the batteries for an
extended period of time.
1. Press the ON/OFF button to turn the power on.
2. Press any button to enter language setup. Select the displayed language with the e/
f / c / d buttons and press the SET butto n.
3. Select the date format with the c/ dbuttons, and press the SET button.
4. Select the item’s field with the e/ fbuttons and adjust the value for the date and
time with the c/ dbuttons.
5. After confirming all settings are correct , press the SET b utton.
Half press the shutter button or press the MENU button will enter capture mode
without saving the settings.
Setting the Date and Time
When the date and time information is not displayed on the LCD monitor, follow these
steps to set the correct date and time.
1. Press the MODE button, and set the camera
mode to [ ] or [ ]; or press the 7button.
2. Press the MENU button.
3. Select the [Setup] at the end of the Menu with the
c/ dbuttons, and press the SET button.
4. Select [Date/Time] with the c/ dbuttons, and
press the SET button.
5. Select the date format with the c/ dbuttons,
and press the SET button.
Select the item’s field with the e/ fbuttons
and adjust the value for the date and time with
the c/ dbuttons.
The time is displayed in 24-hour format.
After confirming all settings are correct, press
the SET button.
6. To exit from the [Setup] menu, press the MENU
button.

Choosing the Language
Specify in which language menus and messages are to be displayed on the LCD
monitor.
1. Press the MODE button, and set the camera
mode to [ ] or [ ]; or press the 7button.
2. Press the MENU button.
3. Select the [Setup] at the end of the Menu with
the c/ dbuttons, and press the SET button.
4. Select [Language] with the c/ dbuttons and
press the SET button.
5. Select the displayed language with the e/ f/
c/ dbuttons and press the SET button.
The setting will be stored.
6. To exit from the [Setup] menu, press the MENU
button.
Formatting the Memory Card or Internal Memory
This utility formats the memory card (or internal memory) and erases all stored images
and data.
1. Press the MODE button, and set the camera
mode to [ ] or [ ]; or press the 7button.
2. Press the MENU button.
3. Select the [Setup] at the end of the Menu with
the c/ dbuttons, and press the SET button.
4. Select [Format] with the c/ dbuttons, then
press the SET button.
5. Select [Execute] with the e/ fbuttons, and
press the SET button.
To cancel formatting, select [Cancel] and
press the SET button.
6. To exit from the [Setup] menu, press the
MENU button.

CAPTURE MODE
Capturing Images
Your camera is equipped with a 2.7" full color TFT LCD monitor to help you compose
images, playback recorded images/video clips or adjust menu settings.
1. Press the ON/OFF button to turn the power on.
2. Press the MODE button, and set the camera mode to [ ].
3. Compose your image in the LCD monitor.
Turn the zoom lever to side to zoom in on the subject, and enlarges the
subject on the LCD monitor.
Turn the zoom lever to side to zoom out on the subject, and provides a wider
angle image.
4. Press the shutter button.
Pressing the shutter button down
halfway automatically focuses and
adjusts the exposure, and pressing the
shutter button down fully captures the
image.
The focus area frame turns green when
the camera is in focus and the exposure
is calculated.
When the focus is not suitable, the frame
of the focus area turns red.
AF Tracking Mode
Use this option to take pictures of moving subject.
1. Press the MODE button, and set the camera mode to [ ].
2. Press the button, and select [ ] icon with the e/ fbuttons. Press the SET
button.
3. To lock the desired tracking subject, press the dbutton.
The frame automatically tracks the subject movement to focus on it continuously.
4. Press the shutter button down fully to capture your image.
When the camera fails to recognize or track the subject, the frame will turns red
and blinks. After blinking of the red frame, the camera returns to unlock display.
Press the dbutton, to returns to unlock display.

Setting the Scene Mode
By simply selecting one of the available 23 scene modes, you can capture the image
with the most appropriate settings.
1. Press the MODE button, and set the camera
mode to [ ], and press the SET button.
2. Select the desired scene mode with the e/ f
/ c/ dbuttons, and press the SET button.
3. Compose the image and press the shutter
button.
The table below will help you choose the
appropriate scene mode:
Scene mode Description
Auto Select this mode when you want to capture images without having to
set special functions or manual adjustments.
Intelligent Scene Select this mode when you want the camera to select an ideal shooting
mode according to environment automatically.
Smile Detection Select this mode to automatically capture an image when a smiling face
is detected.
Anti-shake This mode minimizes the influences of hand shaking when you want to
capture an image.
Panorama Select this mode when you want to capture a series of shots then stitch
them together with software to make a single photo on the computer.
Portrait Man Select this mode when you want to capture an image that makes a man
stand out against a blurred background.
Portrait Lady Select this mode when you want to capture an image that makes a lady
stand out against a blurred background.
Landscape Select this mode when you want to capture an image with infinity focus,
hard sharpness and high saturation.
Sports Select this mode when you want to capture fast-moving subjects.
Night Portrait Select this mode when you want to capture people with an evening or
night scene background.

Taking Images with Intelligent Scene mode
In this Intelligent Scene mode, the camera can sense the ambient conditions and
automatically select the ideal shooting mode.
1. Press the MODE button, and set the camera mode to [ ], and press the SET
button.
2. Select [Intelligent Scene] with the e/ f/ c/ dbuttons, and press the SET button.
The camera can automatically select best mode for the shooting scene from
[Auto] / [Landscape] / [Backlight] / [Portrait] / [Night] / [Night Portrait] / [Macro].
3. Compose the image, and press the shutter button down fully.
Night Scene Select this mode when you want to capture dark scenes such as night
views.
Candlelight Select this mode when you want to capture photos of candlelight scene,
without spoiling the ambience.
Fireworks Select this mode when you want to capture fireworks clearly with
optimal exposure. The shutter speed becomes slower, so using a tripod
is recommended.
Text Select this mode when you want to capture an image that contains
black and white subjects like printed documents.
Sunset Select this mode when you want to capture a sunset. This mode helps
keep the deep hues in the scene.
Sunrise Select this mode when you want to capture a sunrise. This mode helps
keep the deep hues in the scene.
Splash Water Select this mode when you want to capture photos of splashing water.
Flow Water Select this mode when you want to capture the soft flowing water.
Snow Select this mode when you want to capture clear snow scenes without
darkened subjects and bluish tint.
Beach Select this mode when you want to capture bright beach scenes and
sunlit water surfaces.
Pets Select this mode when you want to capture your pets. Shoot from their
eye level.
Natural Green Select this mode when you want to capture the green scenery
background such as forest. This mode helps to brighten the colors.
Program AE This mode allows you to manually set parameters other than the shutter
speed and the aperture value.

Setting the Panorama Mode
This mode is designed to make it easier to take a series of shots then stitch them
together with software to make a single image.
1. Press the MODE button, and set the camera mode to [ ], and press the SET
button.
2. Select [Panorama] with the e/ f/ c/ dbuttons, and press the SET button.
3. Select the photographic direction with the e/ fbuttons.
4. Shoot the first image.
The next image appears beside the previous image.
5. Orient the camera so that the second frame overlaps a small portion of the
photographic subject of the first image and press the shutter button to capture the
next image.
6. Follow the same steps to capture subsequent images in the sequence.
7. Finish the sequence by pressing the MENU button or switch to another mode after
the last image has been recorded.
Taking Images When the Smile Feature Is On
With the camera’s new “smile detection” function, this camera detects smiles so you do
not miss those special moments in life.
1. Press the MODE button, and set the camera mode
to [ ], and press the SET button.
2. Select [Smile Detection] with the e/ f/ c/ d
buttons, and press the SET button.
3. Compose the image, and press the shutter button
down fully.
4. Once the camera detects a smile, it will
automatically capture 3 images (by default, the flash
mode setting is set to d).
 If the [Capture Md.] is set to [Single], the camera
will only capture an image after it detects a smile.
When capturing group shots (if the number of
people is more than 1), the camera will
automatically capture the image(s) when it
detects two smiles.
If the camera does not detect a smile within 5
seconds, the camera returns to preview display.

Recording Shots using Face Detection Technology
Face Detection Technology can identify and focus on the human faces in the image.
This advanced function simultaneously detects up to 10 human faces regardless of their
position in the scene.
1. Press the MODE button, and set the camera mode to [ ].
2. Press the button, and select [ ] icon with the e/ fbuttons. Press the SET
button.
With Face Detection turned on, the camera identifies main face (white frame)
and subsidiary faces (gray frames).
If the camera cannot detect and track any faces, there will be no frame shown on
the screen.
3. Press the shutter button halfway down to lock the
focus.
When the main face is in focus, the white
frame simultaneously turns green. Otherwise,
it turns red.
4. Press the shutter button down fully to capture
your image.
Subjects that are not suitable with this function:
a. A person is wearing glasses, sunglasses, or face is covered with hat or hair.
b. A person turns sideways.
