Generally two persons are required for the assembly; it is recommended to have a third person assist with larger summer houses.

STEP 1 Before you begin!
As a basic principle, only build your
summer house on a level surface.
Check your foundation prior to assem-
bly!
All models are generally delivered in
an unprocessed state (unpainted and
without roofing); deviations depend on
your order.
Open the package and lay out all the
pieces. This will make assembly ea-
sier. Always provide an underlay to
protect any painted pieces.
You will find the house keys on the
side of the door. The keys are fixed
with a screw.
Remove them prior to the installation
of the door to avoid damages.
IMPORTANT:
Please have a close look at the dra-
wing prior to assembly because this
is the only way to visualise where the
individual components need to be
placed during assembly. The package
always contains a couple of spare roof
boards.
Set the preassembled floor in the desi-
red position on the foundation.
We have placed a layer of
roofing felt beneath our foun-
dation to protect the wood
from water. (However, this is
not mandatory.)
Fix the two missing fascia boards of
the floor with a cordless screwdriver
and the provided screw set.
(We recommend using a cordless screwdriver for fixing the screws. You should only fix window and door fittings manually with a
screwdriver.)
STEP 2 Assembling the floor
We are not responsible for damages during assembly!

Start with the assembly of the walls.
Place the first two wall components on
the floor and set both up. Make sure
that the bottom scantling of the wall
components is flush with the floor on
the outside. Screw the wall compo-
nents together. Make sure to fix only
one wall component to the floor to be
able to make minor adjustments to the
walls.
Now place all wall components, one
after the other, where they belong as
shown in the drawing. Screw the wall
components at least 4 times per side
(on top, at the bottom and twice in the
middle with the appropriate spacing).
The pieces must be screwed together
flush without gaps. It is recommended
to use screw clamps to hold the pieces
together.
Now your summer house should look
like this (see below).
If you also want to protect the floor with
roofing felt, pull up the excess materi-
al and fix it to the fascia boards of the
floor with small nails or staples. Cut off
any remaining excess material with a
cutter.
STEP 3 Setting up the wall elements
Contact your specialist supplier if you experience any problems during assembly. 3

Put the key which you have removed
from the side in the key cylinder and
check to make sure it locks correctly.
Now insert the door into the summer
house. Open the door and adjust it
from the inside if necessary. Make
sure that the door leaf does not
swing open by itself. Screw the door
tight with the components and take
care that it is installed accurately.
Now check to make sure the elements
are properly placed on the floor. If ne-
cessary, adjust them by pressing the
components until they fit. Screw the
components to the floor with the pro-
per tension and check again to make
sure you have screwed the wall com-
ponents together properly.
Place the two prefabricated gable ele-
ments on top of the summer house.
Use a wooden board to protect the gable
elements against hammer blows. This will
help you attach the gable element firm-
ly to the wall element. Screw the gable
elements and the wall elements together
properly.
Now place the ridge purlin in the prefabri-
cated slots. Attach the two fascia rails on
the left and right hand-side of the gable.
Make sure that the spacing at the back
and in the front is equal.
Now screw the fascia rails and the ridge
purlin to the respective components with
the proper tension.

Check once again that all elements are
tightened properly and flush with each
other.
Use screwdriver to insert the missing
base boards on the outside of the wall
components.
To do this, tilt the board and insert the
tongue into the groove. You can press
the board upwards into the groove with
a screwdriver. Now screw the base
boards to the base frame.
Make sure that the spacing of all in-
serted boards is the same. In the next
step, you will mount the roof boarding.
Insert the window handle into the
lock in the window. Use a cordless
screwdriver or a screwdriver to screw
in the uppermost screw.
Be careful not to overtighten it if you
work with a cordless screwdriver.
You can screw in the bottom screw
after opening the window since the
window handle will not get in the way
anymore.
Check all functions of the window as
soon as you are done.
Now take the metal mount for the door
handle and fit it in.
Make sure that you fix it with a
screwdriver because the screws
will be screwed in plastic nuts and
they may be easily overtightened.

The roof boarding is already cut to the
correct length so that you only have to
lay the boards from front to back.
Start at the front and align the first
board flush at the front with the ridge
purlin/fascia board. Make sure that you
align the board exactly with the centre
of the ridge purlin. This is necessary
to avoid protruding wood at the ridge
which would prevent the mounting of
the opposite boards.
Now nail the boards twice to the ridge
purlin and the fascia board. Lay the
roof boarding all the way to the back.
Measure in regular intervals to ensure
that they are properly aligned and that
the spacing to the wall is consistent.
The backmost board needs to be cut to
size in most cases. Afterwards, mount
the remaining boards on the other side
as described above.
Now mount the gable boards at the
front and back. Fix the gable boards
with screws to the roof boarding and
the ridge purlin; the spacing between
the upper edge of the gable board and
the upper edge of the roof boarding
should be approx. 5-6 cm. It may help
if you indicate the centre on the ridge
purlin with a pencil line. This will keep
you from unintentionally exceeding the
centre of the ridge purlin.
Mount the fascia boards with screws to
the roof boarding.
Make sure the upper edge of the
board does not extend beyond the
roof boarding.
STEP 8 Mounting the roof boarding

Laying the roof felt.
Roof felt not include in the package;
available as accessory at your speci-
alist supplier.
Roll out the roof felt from one side to
the other beginning at the lower part
of the roof. Allow a few protruding cen-
timetres and cut the excess felt off.
Fix the roof felt to the roof boarding
with roofing nails or staples. The felt
may protrude a few centimetres at the
left/right hand-side and below. Cut off
the excess felt with a sharp cutter and
a wooden strip neatly at the edges of
the gable boards and fascia boards.
Lay the sheets so that the next layers
always overlap the underlying sheet at
the upper edge by approx. 20-30 cm.
Always lay the sheets from bottom to
top; the final sheet at the ridge (top of
the roof) should be laid last over both
roof parts. When installing a gutter
(available as a special accessory) it
is advisable to leave 5 cm of excess
roof felt on the fascia board so that the
water can flow directly into the gutter.
Bertsch Holzbau generally recom-
mends laying bitumen roof shing-
les on top of the roof felt (bitumen
shingles are optionally available).
This guarantees greater and better
protection of the roof and therefore
the whole summer house.
