2. Introduction
Thank you for choosing to use the byBES Breezi Activity Chair. Please read these instructions for use
and keep this document to refer to for maintenance.
If you have any difculties using the byBES Breezi Activity Chair, contact your local supplier or BES
Healthcare, using the contact details on the back of this document.
For the purpose of this document:
• The term ‘Breezi Chair’ is used to represent all the models (the Teezi, the Breezi, the Breezi Max,
and any hybrid version of these) in the byBES Breezi activity chair range.
• The individual who will be sitting in the chair is referred to as the ‘user’.
• Any primary support person such as a carer, parent, teacher, etc is referred to as the ‘carer’.
The byBES Breezi activity chair range is the medical device family name that encompasses the variations of
chair size as described below in Table 1.

The solid components within the Breezi Chair are constructed using a combination of beech wood and birch
plywood. The Breezi Chair accessories are constructed with these materials and upholstered with Ultraleather
covering over a foam lining.

3. Clinical applications
3.1 Indications
The Breezi Chair and Breezi Chair Accessories are indicated to offer support for individuals with additional
seating requirements above and beyond those offered by conventional seating.
Selection or prescription of the chair and any accessories should be based on a holistic assessment of the
user’s individual needs when seated.
The Breezi Chair represents certain elements of support for an individual. All other aspects of care should be
considered by the clinician/clinical team responsible for the user’s individual care or support package.
3.2 Contraindications
The Breezi Chair is intended to provide additional postural support to help users manage their mild to
moderate seating requirements irrespective of the condition, disease, or diagnosis. Use of the Breezi Chair
is based on the severity of the user’s condition and their capabilities: therefore there are no disease or
condition-specific contraindications for the Chair.
With the above in mind, BES Healthcare stipulates the following contraindications:
• The Breezi Chair is contraindicated for users whose postural support needs cannot be met adequately
by the positional supports provided as part of the range of accessories.
• The Breezi Chair is contraindicated for users whose behaviours represent a risk of them injuring
themselves whilst seated in the chair – for example strong tendencies to rock or sway therefore
presenting a risk of tipping the chair over during use.
3.3 General warnings, cautions,
and information
• Follow the manufacturer’s instructions in relation to both the chair and any accessories supplied with it.
Failure to follow the instructions may put the user at risk or restrict the chair’s functionality and benefits.
• The Breezi Chair is designed to stand up to ‘normal’ indoor use and care i.e. it is not designed to
withstand extreme heat or cold, nor extreme ranges of humidity.
• Only people who have been trained on the Breezi Chair shall be allowed to modify the chair or its
accessories.
• Breezi Chair accessories are not appropriate to be used on other chairs or seating systems without the
accessory manufacturer’s approval.
• Check and re-tighten all bolts 2-3 weeks after first using the chair. After that you should check and re-
tighten the bolts, as necessary, on a regular basis.
• Store the chair appropriately when not in use and avoid extremes of temperature and humidity.
• To ensure accessories are installed correctly use the accessory specific fixing kits supplied by BES
Healthcare and follow the ‘How to fit’ guides and videos available from the BES Healthcare website
www.beshealthcare.net. 7

Warnings
• Do NOT leave the seating system user unattended when using the chair.
• Do not use the chair unless all components are correctly fitted and adjusted. Pay special attention
to the seat plate and foot plate. Follow the instructions in Section 5 of this document to make sure
these are properly fastened and adjusted before using the chair.
• Do not place the chair near an open fire or other significant heat sources such as gas fires, electric
fires, wood burners, etc, due to the risk of fire.
• If the chair is placed next to solid structures or other furniture, care must be taken that the user
cannot use their legs to push the chair back potentially cause it to tip over.
• Always place the Breezi Chair on a level stable surface and at floor level, ideally with space behind
to allow it to be moved away from a table, etc. NEVER elevate the chair on any structure, table, or
surface above ground level.
• Certain types of floors (e.g. polished tiles, wooden flooring, laminate, linoleum) may be sensitive to
abrasion when the Breezi Chair is moved. It is the carer’s responsibility to decide whether the chair is
suitable/compatible with their flooring.
• The product contains small parts which when detached present a risk of causing choking if
swallowed.
• As with any new seating support, this product may change the way a person sits. Users must
continue to practice regular pressure relief activities and skin integrity checks, not only where the
user is in contact with the product, but also in primary pressure bearing areas such as the sacrum,
legs, and buttocks. If increased, persistent skin redness or irritation occurs, discontinue use and
consult your clinical or seating specialist. Failure to do so may result in serious injury, such as
pressure ulcers.
• If a serious incident occurs related to the use of this product, it should be reported to the
manufacturer and the local Competent Authority.
Cautions
• Do NOT use any non-Breezi accessories or replacement parts unless authorised by BES Healthcare:
this may affect the user’s safety.
• For the safety of the user, any belt or harness supplied must always be correctly fitted and used
(most injuries from high chairs are caused by falls).
• Be careful to ensure that chair placement does not expose user to additional risks such as choking
from small objects, burns from hot surfaces / liquids, strangulation from window covering cords /
electrical flexes, and further injury from any other potential risks.
• Do NOT use the chair as a step or stool.
• Do NOT use the Breezi Chair if any part is broken, torn, visibly damaged, missing, or not working
correctly. Contact your local supplier or BES Healthcare immediately using the contact details on the
back of this document if one of fault elements listed is observed.
• The Breezi Chair is a Medical Device, not a toy. Do not let children play with the chair, nor make use
of it except for purposes recommended by BES Healthcare.
4.2 Intended environment
The Breezi Chair has been designed for use in educational and care establishments, and in a normal home
environment.
5. Assembly and adjustment
Where the Breezi Chair comes already assembled, it will be ready for use upon delivery if the assembly has
been based on a prior assessment of the user, but the plate depths may need adjusting (see 5.1 and 5.2).
If the user has changed in size, or the use of the chair has changed following assessment, then adjustments
to the set-up of the chair may be needed. Prior to first use, it is recommended that you check all bolts on the
chair to ensure none have worked loose in transit. Where necessary, tighten any loose bolts prior to first use.
Where the Breezi Chair comes as a ‘flat-pack’, it will be necessary to build it from the constituent parts. For
full instructions on building the chair from a ‘flat-pack’ refer to byBES 002 How to Build.
From time to time, it may be necessary to adjust the chair in response to the user growing, or in line with
changing needs, such as use at differing table height. Correct set up of the seat and foot plates and simple
adjustments to seat plates and foot plates, such as sliding the plates forward to backward in the frame or
adjusting the height of the plates are covered in Sections 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 of this document.
There is a range of Breezi Chair accessories available to support the chair’s user. These accessories are listed
in Section 6. The need for any accessories to support the user and to help meet their postural requirements
when seated should be discussed with the clinical or care team(s) who have responsibility for the user’s care.
Once the correct accessories have been identified, these can be ordered by contacting your local supplier or
BES Healthcare, using the contact details on the back of this document.

the Breezi Chair accessories is done by a trained individual.

4.1 Intended use
4. Important information
The Breezi Chair, with optional Breezi Chair accessories, has been designed for users with additional seating
requirements, over and above those that can be met by conventional seating. The Breezi Chair can be
adjusted to give optimal positioning for day-to-day activities, and give, where appropriate, additional
positioning support to aid in carrying out those activities.

SEAT PLATE DEPTH - Position the users back against the back rails. The seat should support 75% of the
thighs (see Fig. 3). It is important that the seat depth is not too deep in order to allow for the best comfort
and natural movement of the user.

5.1 Setting the correct seat
plate height and depth
SEAT PLATE HEIGHT - The seat is at the correct height when the user’s elbows are level with the surface they
are using (see Fig. 2).
5.2 Setting the correct foot
plate height and depth
FOOT PLATE HEIGHT - The footplate is at the correct height when the back of the thigh is resting on the seat
plate and the soles of the feet are resting flat on the foot plate (see Fig. 4).

FOOT PLATE DEPTH – Make sure that the toes do not protrude past the forward edge of the foot plate and
that the foot plate NEVER protrudes beyond the front of the chair legs at floor level (see Fig. 5).

5.3 Adjustment of seat and foot
plates
From time to time, it may be necessary to adjust the chair in response to the user growing, or in line with their
changing needs.
The instructions within this section explain how to perform basic adjustments to the seat plate and foot
plate, such as sliding the plates forward or backward in the frame, or adjusting the height of the plates to
meet the user’s needs.
5.3.1 General information
Simple adjustment of the seat plate and foot plate can be done by using a 4mm Hex Key to turn the bolts
counter clockwise to loosen them (allowing plates to move within the frame) and clockwise to tighten the
bolts, after plate adjustment.
NOTE: Be careful not to overtighten the bolts.
Using the Hex Key, loosen the bolts in the two
back rails, and the two tie bars on one side of
the chair (see Fig. 6) until the plate can slide.

6.1.1 Bodypoint™ Pelvic
Positioning Belt Description
Intended Use: A pelvic positioning belt is to help position the
user’s pelvis in a stable position, and to stop the user from sliding
forward on the seat plate, thereby helping to maintain a good
posture and functional seating position.
Application: For installation, this belt should be mounted using
the fixing kit which fastens under a slotted seat plate (6.2.2). The
webbing is then threaded upward through the slots.
Styles and sizes: Bodypoint pelvic positioning belts come with a
choice of buckles (side release (single and dual pull), push button,
swivel, rehab latch), webbing width (25, 38, or 50mm), and
padding length (320 to 920mm).
Warnings and Cautions
• This product should only be used for positioning a person in a chair. It is NOT intended for use as
a transportation safety device, as a personal restraint device, or in any other application where its
failure could result in injury. Misuse of this product is unauthorized and unsafe.
• This pelvic positioning belt must be worn tightly fitted across thighs at all times. Have your seating
specialist demonstrate its proper adjustment and use.
• A loose belt can allow the user to slip down and create a risk of strangulation.
• Accidental release of this pelvic positioning belt can allow the user to slip down or fall from the chair.
• A user’s inability to self-release can be hazardous if the user slips down or is trapped in the chair in an
emergency.
• If the user’s physical or cognitive abilities prevent them from safely operating this belt, a carer must
be present at all times during its use.
• Ensure that all carers know how to tighten and unfasten the product correctly.
6. byBES Breezi Activity Chair
Accessories
BES Healthcare offers a range of Breezi Chair accessories that are intended to be used specifically with the device to support its intended
use as detailed in Section 4.1 of this document. The Breezi Chair accessories are not suitable to be used on other chairs or seating
systems without the approval of the manufacturer.
The accessories available for the Breezi Chair have been grouped into ‘Postural accessories’, ‘General accessroies’ and ‘Mobility
accessories’. These are listed and summarised below in sections 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3 respectively.
Before fitting an accessory to your Breezi Chair please ensure you have read Sections 3.1 Indications; 3.2 Contraindications; 3.3 General
Warnings, Cautions, and Information; 4.1 Intended Use; 4.2 Intended Environments; 7 Care, maintenance, cleaning, disinfection, and
disposal; and 8 Additional Information: Servicing and manufacturer’s guarantee, in this document.
NOTE: It is recommended that attaching, removing, or adjusting the Breezi Chair accessories
is done by a trained individual.

5.3.3 Adjusting the seat and
foot plate height
Loosen bolts as described above. Slide the seat and/or foot plate out of the frame and adjust the plate height
up or down by selecting the correct grooves on the z-legs. Slide the plate into the selected grooves. Once at
the correct plate height, tighten the bolts as described above to hold the plates in place.
NOTE: Ensure the plates are square in the legs (see Fig. 9), and horizontal (i.e., in the same slot in each z-leg),
and not ‘skewed’ or at an angle after adjustment (as detailed in Fig. 10).

6.1.5 Corner Back Chest Strap Description
Padded chest strap with hook and loop fastenings.
Intended Use: The corner back chest strap is an option to
provide the user with support for the front of their chest.
Application: The corner back chest strap is an accessory to
the corner back and is mounted around the back of the corner
back, and through the lateral slots of the corner back, and is size
adjustable using the hook and loop closure.
Styles: Hook and loop closure, with or without side-release buckle.
The hook and loop fastening version can be adjusted and
released by the user, whereas the buckle version’s intended use is
to prevent users from opening the strap themselves.
Warnings and Cautions
• This is NOT a restraint and it is not intended to be used to keep the user seated in the chair.
• Always use in conjunction with a correctly positioned pelvic positioning belt (6.1.1), to prevent the risk
of strangulation.
• Should be fitted snugly around the chest, but in no way restrict regular breathing.
• The user’s arms should remain free.
6.1.3 Lateral Thigh Pad Description
Padded block which attaches to the seat plate for additional support.
Intended Use: Lateral thigh pads provide lateral support along the outer
thighs to help position the pelvis, thighs, and knees.
Application: Attach to a double-slotted seat plate (6.2.3) by bolts
through the pre-cut slots.
Lateral width adjustment of 60mm on each side is possible by moving
the pad along the double slots, to allow for growth and good fit.
Angle adjustment by twisting the pad to the required angle before
tightening the attachment bolts.
Sizes: Small (150x90mm); Long (220x90mm); Double Long
(220x180mm)
Warnings and Cautions
• Do NOT use lateral thigh pads to force or hold the user into a specific posture.
• Lateral thigh pads should only be mounted to seat plates with manufacturer pre-cut slots
• They should only be used with ‘half width’ (HC) cushions (6.2.4).
• There are some instances where lateral thigh pads cannot be prescribed together with a corner back
or shallower seat depths, in that one can prevent the other from being positioned as desired.
• Lateral thigh pads are not designed to be used as handles for manoeuvring the chair, for adjusting
the seat plate, or entering or leaving the chair.
• The lateral thigh pads are not designed to resist high forces, for example users with tight muscles (i.e.
high tone).
• Ensure bolts are always done up tightly.
• Long versions of the lateral thigh pads can be mounted beyond the front of the seat plate to act as
lateral knee pads.
• If with extensive use, the upholstery no longer covers the edges of the internal wooden block then
replacement pads should be fitted to prevent injury.
6.1.2 Pre-Ischial Ridge Pad Description
A thin pad to be placed under a seat pad, in front of the pelvis.
Intended Use: A pre-ischial ridge pad helps to reduce forward
movement of the hips thereby also reduces pelvic anterior tilt.
Application: The pad is attached to the seat plate by hook and
loop fasteners in front of the pelvic positioning belt if there is
one, and otherwise just in front of the centre line on the seat
plate, and below the seat pad (6.2.4).
Sizes: Widths to match the seat pads being used.
Warnings and Cautions
• This is NOT intended to reduce the risk of pressure related tissue injury for the user.
• The pre-ischial ridge pad is intended to help reduce the tendency to slip forward, but cannot
completely prevent it (a correctly positioned pelvic positioning belt (6.1.1) should be used for this
purpose).
• Must be positioned under a seat pad (6.2.4), not on top.
6.1.4 Corner Back Description
A padded overlay backed by a supporting wooden structure.
Intended Use: The corner back offers lateral support to the trunk,
helping keep the upper trunk in place, and reducing the tendency
to lean or drop to one side.
Application: The corner back is bolted into the back rails.
The corner back can be adjusted up and down (by 160 to
230mm) to the required height.
There are slots in the lateral sections through which the optional
chest strap (6.1.5) can be passed.
A head rest can be added as a further accessory (6.1.9).
Sizes: (Back plate width x back plate length)
Narrow (137x255mm); Standard (190x255mm);
High (190x330mm); Wide (227x316mm)
Warnings and Cautions
• Ensure the correct size is used for the user, and that this is reviewed as they grow.
• Be aware of potential positioning conflict with thigh pads (6.1.3).
• The corner back must be used with the padding provided.

6.1.9.1 Head Rest for
Corner Back Description
Padded block attached to height adjustable wooden stem used to
support the head.
Intended Use: See 6.1.9
Application: The head rest assembly is slotted in behind the
corner back (6.1.4), and height adjusted as required.
Styles: See 6.1.9
Warnings and Cautions
See 6.1.9
6.1.7 Bodypoint™ Anterior
Positioning Harness Description
Intended Use: Anterior positioning harnesses are an aid for alignment of
the trunk and shoulders for better posture and functional positioning for
users with affected trunk control.
Application: For installation, this product should be mounted using the
fixing kit supplied (suitable for users up to 75kg). NOTE: The upper straps
need to level between the shoulders and the top of the back rail, and this
may require a high back to achieve this.
Sizes: Anterior harnesses come in 6 sizes. For shoulder widths: <240mm
(XXS); 240-280mm (XS); 280-330mm (S); 330-410mm (M); 410-480mm
(L); >480mm (XL).
Styles: Pivot-fit shoulder harnesses (standard and dynamic); Stayflex chest
harnesses (standard or narrow width; with or without centre zip).
Warnings and Cautions
• Because of the risk of choking, it is dangerous to use this product without stabilizing the pelvis –
always use with a properly fitted pelvic positioning belt (6.1.1).
• This product should only be used for positioning a person in a chair. It is NOT intended for use as
a transportation safety device, as a personal re-straint device, or in any other application where its
failure could result in injury. Misuse of this product is unauthorized and unsafe.
• This anterior trunk support must be properly fitted to support the user’s trunk and shoulders without
causing injury. Have your seating specialist demonstrate its proper adjustment and use.
• If it is too tight, it can restrict respiration and in-crease pressure across the shoulders and chest.
• If it is too loose, it can allow the user to slip down and may create a risk of strangulation.
• Accidental release of this product can allow the user to fall forward.
• A user’s inability to self release can be hazardous if the user slips down or is trapped in the chair in an
emergency.
• If the user’s physical or cognitive abilities could prevent them from safely operating this product, a
carer must be present at all times during its use.
• Ensure that all carers know how to adjust and unfasten the product correctly.
• If the seat plate height is adjusted this could lead to inappropriate positioning of the harness straps.
6.1.6 Free-standing Chest Strap Description
Padded chest strap with hook and loop fastenings.
Intended Use: The free-standing chest strap is a padded support
used to assist upper body positioning.
Application: The free-standing chest strap can be mounted
directly onto either the ‘upper or lower’ standard or high back
rails of the Breezi via a single hole in the rail.
Styles: Fastened by hook and loop, with or without a side release
buckle.
Note: The hook and loop fastening version can be adjusted and
released by the user, whereas the buckle version’s intended use is
to prevent users from opening the strap themselves.
Warnings and Cautions
• This is NOT a restraint and it is not intended to be used to keep the user seated in the chair.
• Must only be used in conjunction with a correctly positioned pelvic positioning belt (6.1.1), to prevent
the risk of strangulation.
• Should be fitted snugly around the chest, but in no way restrict regular breathing.
• The user’s arms should remain free.
• Cannot be used in conjunction with certain accessories such as a Cornerback (6.1.4).
6.1.8 High Back Pad Description
Curved padded block attached to a backrail.
Intended Use: The high back pad can be used to extend the
height of the back or to provide support to the head.
Application: The high back pad is attached to a high back rail.
Size: 230x280mm (WxH)
Warnings and Cautions
• Do not use as a handle to manoeuvre the chair.
• Not suitable for users with tight muscles (i.e. high tone)

6.1.9 Head Rest Description
Padded block attached to height adjustable wooden stem used to
protect the head.
Intended Use: The head rest enables the user to rest their
head from time to time when seated. This is NOT intended as a
dedicated head support.
Application: The head rest assembly is slotted through two fixing
points behind the back rails, and height adjusted as required.
Styles: With and without ‘wings’. The wings serve as a prompt
when the head wanders off to the side.
Warnings and Cautions
• This is a head rest only.
• It is NOT intended as a dedicated head support i.e. it is not to be used to stabilise, formally support or
position the head.
• The head rest is not suitable for users with tight muscles (i.e. high tone).
• Ensure the head rest is adjusted as the user grows.
• Do not use as a handle to manoeuvre the chair.

6.2.2 Slotted Seat Plate Description
Intended Use: As for seat plate (6.2.1), but also has a pair of parallel
slots for mounting a pelvic positioning belt (6.1.1)
Application: As for seat plate (6.2.1).
Sizes: (WxD) 15x11” (386x282mm), 15x13” (386x335mm), 17x12”
(424x314mm), 17x14” (424x364mm), 18x16” (460x411mm), 18x18”
(460x460mm) as standard. NOTE: the depth of the plate does not
necessarily equate to the effective depth of the plate and will depend
on the positioning of the plate relative to the user’s body and which
accessories are in use.

6.1.11 Bodypoint™ Ankle Huggers Description
Intended Use: Ankle huggers are used to position the user’s
feet on the foot plate.
Application: Attach the ankle huggers to the foot plate using
the fixing kit provided with the ankle huggers.
The degree of freedom of movement can be controlled by the
positioning of the fixing loops nearer to or further from the feet,
and the tension on the vertical straps.
Sizes: Ankle huggers come in 5 sizes. For ankle circumferences:
<170mm (XS); 170-200mm (S); 200-230mm (M); 230-280mm
(L); >280mm (XL).
Warnings and Cautions
• Ankle huggers should only be used on persons wearing a properly fitted pelvic positioning belt (6.1.1).
• Ankle huggers should only be fitted and worn over everyday footwear - heavily padded shoes and
orthotic devices can interfere with their proper fit.
• If the user’s physical or cognitive abilities could prevent them from safely operating this product, a
carer must be present at all times during its use.
• Ensure that all carers know how to adjust and unfasten the product correctly.
6.1.10 Medial Knee Pad (Pommel) Description
Padded cylindrical cushion to sit between the user’s knees.
Intended Use: The medial knee pad is mounted on a seat
plate and sits between the knees to encourage knee and
thigh abduction.
Application: The medial knee pad is mounted to a seat
plate in a central position so that it sits above the plate
directly between the knees (as opposed to between the
thighs).
Sizes and Styles: The pad is available is 2 sizes, small
(60mm diam x 80mm L) ,large (90mm diam x 100mm L).
The pad can be in a fixed position by means of a bolt
through the seat plate, or on a depth adjustable quick
release mount which is screwed to the base of the seat
plate.
Warnings and Cautions
• The medial knee pad is only to be used to separate the knees (i.e. knee abduction) and NOT for any
other use.
• NOT to be used as a restraint.
• Do NOT use the medial knee pad to prevent the user sliding forward whilst seated. (This should be
achieved through the use of a correctly positioned pelvic positioning belt and/or seat pad with pre-
ischial ridge (6.1.1).
• Not suitable for users with tight muscles (i.e. high tone)without the additional use of a correctly
positioned pelvic positioning belt (6.1.1).
• The pad is not designed to be used as a handle for manoeuvring the chair or for adjusting the seat
plate.
• Thought needs to be given to the extent to which the pad hinders the user’s ability to independently
get in and out of the chair.
6.2 General accessories
6.2.1 Foot/Seat Plates Description
Plywood boards coated with a hard wearing waterproof antibacterial
lacquer.
Intended Use: The plates provide support below the feet or below the
buttocks and thighs in a position that suits the user’s best posture and
supports their functional needs.
Application: With the z-legs bolts loosened, slide into slots in the z-legs,
and tighten z-leg bolts to hold the plate in place.
Sizes: (WxD) 15x11” (386x282mm), 15x13” (386x335mm), 17x12”
(424x314mm), 17x14” (424x364mm), 18x16” (460x411mm), 18x18”
(460x460mm) as standard. NOTE: the depth of the plate does not
necessarily equate to the effective depth of the plate and will depend
on the positioning of the plate relative to the user’s body and which
accessories are in use.

6.2.8 Tray Description
Wipe clean work surface with raised edges to prevent items rolling off tray top.
Intended Use: A platform to use, when a table top is not an option, for meals,
work, or play. Also can provide upper body support. Surface is smooth enough
to work with most suction cup applications.
Application: Hooks onto the top rail of the chair, and can be held in place by
tray strap option (6.2.9).
Sizes and Styles: Tray area 600x395mm (WxD) for all tray sizes. Arm support
slots in trays positioned appropriately for Teezi, Breezi, and Breezi Max trays.
Cut outs: 110 mm deep for Teezi and Breezi trays; 140 mm for Breezi Max
trays.
Deep cut outs: 150 mm deep for Teezi and Breezi trays; 190 mm for Breezi
Max trays.

6.2.5 Back Rail Pad Description
Fabric covered low profile foam pad for use on the back rail.
Intended Use: Provision of padding and additional comfort for
the user when leaning against the back rails
Application: Attached to the back rail by hook and loop tape.
Styles: There is one size, but three different designs for use
with standard back rails, tall back rails, and inverted back rails
respectively.
Warnings and Cautions
• The back rail pad is NOT intended to reduce the risk of pressure related tissue injury for the user.
• Cannot be used in conjunction with accessories that attach through the back rail (e.g. corner back
(6.1.4)
6.2.7 Stabilising Skis Description
Engineered wooden ‘skis’ to extend the footprint of the chair.
Intended Use: Stabilising skis extend the floor contact area of the
chair, to enhance front-to-back stability. Ski depths; Teezi 758mm,
Breezi 870mm, Max 960mm.
Application: The stabilising skis are bolted to the horizontal parts of
the z-legs. Optional casters (6.3.2) can be added.
Sizes: Teezi, Breezi, Max
Warnings and Cautions
• Must always be installed on both sides of the chair.
• Only reduces risk of tipping front-to-back, but does not eliminate the risk: caution must still be taken.
• Be aware that there is an increased trip hazard for those walking around the chair.
• Not compatible with Millie Mova (6.3.3).
6.2.6 Transfer Step Description
Extended wooden plate with front support.
Intended Use: The transfer step can be used as foot plate at a
lower position than the lowest slots in the z-leg, or as a step to
assist reaching the foot plate.
Application: The transfer step rests on top of the horizontal part
of the z-leg and hooks behind the lower tie bar.
Sizes: Teezi, Breezi, Breezi Millie Mova, Max, Max Millie Mova.
Warnings and Cautions
• Ensure the back of the step is properly hooked under the lower tie bar i.e. not in front of it.
• A specific transfer step variant needs to be used if being used in conjunction with a Millie Mova.
• Not compatible with LLMF (6.3.1) nor Skis with casters (6.3.2).
• Does NOT increase the forward stability of the chair
6.2.3 Double Slotted Seat Plate Description
Intended Use: As for slotted seat plate (6.2.1), but also has an extra
two pairs of slots for mounting lateral thigh pads (6.1.3).
Application: As for seat plate (6.2.1).

Styles and sizes: Seat pad styles are full plate width, and half width (HC). HCs are to
be used with a slotted (6.2.2) or double-slotted (6.2.3) plate, and fit between the slots.
Sizes to match the plate sizes (WxD): (WxD) 15x11” (386x282mm), 15x13”
(386x335mm) , 17x12” (424x314mm), 17x14” (424x364mm), 18x16”
(460x411mm), 18x18” (460x460mm) as standard.
Warnings and Cautions
• The seat pad is NOT intended to reduce the risk of pressure related tissue injury for the user.

6.2.11 Arm Supports Description
Wooden arm supports with metal bracket attachment.
Intended Use: Arm supports provide some lateral positioning
assistance, and can be used as a grab point to assist the user when
getting in and out of the chair.
Application: Hooked over the top rail and then screwed into the z-legs.
Sizes: Two arm lengths: Short (90mm) and Long (190mm). Two arm
depths: Standard (228mm) and Deep (255mm).
Warnings and Cautions
• Not compatible with trays (6.2.8).
• Arm supports must be attached to the z-legs with screws as per How-to-fit instructions (and not
simply hooked onto the back rail).
• Should NOT be used as a lateral trunk supports.
6.3.2 Stabilising Skis with Casters Description
Stabilising Skis with casters are a bolt-on system, with casters at its
extremities.
Intended Use: Stabilising skis (6.2.7) are accessories employed to
give increased front to back stability. The option of adding casters
to these skis provides a means to wheel the chair from place to
place.
Application: The skis are bolted to the outside of the lower part of
the z-legs. The casters are braked when the lever is in the downward
position, and unbraked when in the horizontal position.
The brakes can be foot operated.

Warnings and Cautions
• Do NOT wheel the chair when the user is in situ for more than moving the user away from a table or
other short distances.
• Ensure all casters are braked when the chair is in the desired position before the user attempts to get
onto the chair and when the user is seated.
• Ensure all casters are unbraked when moving the chair.
• When moving the chair use the tops of the legs as opposed to any accessories as the ‘handles’.
• Whilst the stabilising skis provide reduced risk of tipping through an elongated base, it does not
guarantee the prevention of tipping, thus caution still needs to be exercised.
• The stabilising skis with casters raise the height of the chair by the height of the casters
(approximately 50mm), thus be mindful of the position of the user and accessories relative to any
given work surface, and the impact on the user’s ability to get in and out of the chair independently.
6.2.10 Tray Pad Description
Intended Use: The tray pad is an option where the user might be at risk
from knocking or banging parts of their body on the tray.
Application: The tray pad slips over the tray (6.2.8) and is held in place
by hook and loop fixtures.
Styles: The standard style covers just the tray surface and edges, with an
option to cover the tray arms as well.
6.3.1 Low Level Mobile Frame (LLMF) Description
A Low Level Mobile Frame (LLMF) is a bolt-on system, with casters
at its extremities.
Intended Use: A Low Level Mobile Frame (LLMF) enables the chair
to be wheeled from place to place and increases ‘front-to-back’
stability of the chair. The LLMF can be used to raise the height of
the chair by up to 50mm.
Application: The LLMF is bolted to the outside of the lower
part of the z-legs. The casters are braked when the lever is in the
downward position, and unbraked when in the horizontal position.
The brakes can be foot operated.
Sizes: Teezi, Breezi, and Breezi Max
Warnings and Cautions
• Do NOT wheel the chair when the user is in situ for more than moving the user away from a table or

6.3 Mobility accessories
• The tray is NOT intended to keep the user in the chair, nor act in any way as a restraint for the chair user.
• Not compatible with arm supports (6.2.11).
• Ensure the arm length chosen is compatible with the user’s size and seat plate height (see Figure 2 in section
5.2).
• Tray straps (6.2.9) must be used if the user is at risk of unwanted lifting of the tray.
• When lifting the tray off, care should be taken not to harm the user e.g. be aware of the position of their
head and arms.
• Tray padding option (6.2.10) available if the user is at risk of banging their head on any the tray
components.
6.2.9 Tray Straps Description
Straps with side release buckle.
Intended Use: Tray straps are used to stop the tray (6.2.8) being
lifted off the back rail by the user.
Application: Tray straps are fastened at one end to the side of the
tray and at the other to the z-legs, on each side of the tray, and
held in place by a side-release buckle.
Sizes: One size fits all trays.
Warnings and Cautions
• Ensure that the two parts of the strap are firmly fastened and properly tensioned when in use.
• Ensure that the straps are adjusted so that they are tight when in use.
• Ensure the straps are disconnected before removing the tray.

6.3.3 Millie Mova Description
Foot operated metal frame which sits inside the base of the chair.
Intended Use: Allows a carer to move the chair easily with the user
in situ for short distances, without having to lift or drag the chair.
Application: An attachment to the base of the z-legs that is
manually ‘activated’ by the carer pushing down with their foot on
the V-shaped metal lever protruding at the back of the chair. The
chair resumes its unwheeled resting position when the carer’s foot
is taken off the V-shaped metal lever.
Sizes: To attach to Breezi or Breezi Max chairs. (Note: there is not a
size for Teezi chairs)
Warnings and Cautions
• The Millie Mova is designed to move the chair for short distances only e.g. to or from under a dining
room table.
• The foot operated leaver should never be locked in the downward position as this would leave to the
chair on its wheels and therefore unbraked.
• An adapted version of the transfer steps (6.2.6) has to be used if specified to be used in combination
with a Millie Mova.
• Not compatible for use with stabilising skis (6.2.7 or 6.3.2) nor low level mobility frame (6.3.1).
7.1 Daily checks/maintenance
7. Routine care, maintenance,
cleaning, disinfection, and disposal
It is recommended that carers carry out a periodic check to ensure all bolts are tight, along with an inspection
of the chair for cracks, breaks, loose parts, or malfunction, etc. If any components have been damaged in a
way that might create a splinter, the wood should be sanded down in that area to remove any sharp edges/
splinters. Where belts or harnesses are used, check that these are complete and webbing has not frayed.
7.2 Routine cleaning
The Breezi Chair should be cleaned at periodic intervals while in use, as is good practice for all reusable
medical devices. All parts may only be cleaned using a damp cloth and detergent or with an alcohol wipe.
Do not soak or immerse any of the parts in water (Do not use mechanised washing, disinfection, or sterilising
equipment, nor steam clean). After cleaning, ensure the product is dry before use or storage.
7.2.1 Re-use with multiple
patients/users (disinfection)
Before re-using the Breezi Chair with a different client, the chair should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected
in line with local infection prevention guidelines.
Avoid corrosive materials and cleaning chemicals such as bleach, solvents, or abrasives as these can damage
the materials used in the chair’s construction.
After cleaning/disinfection, ensure the product is dry before reassembly or storage.
If you are uncertain about effective cleaning or disinfection for the Breezi Chair seek advice from your local
Infection Prevention specialist.
7.3 Recycling and safe disposal
The components and accessories for Breezi Chairs are modular in nature and can be reused in new
assemblies following appropriate occupant assessment and cleaning/disinfection set out in Section 7.2.1.
All main component parts of the byBES Breezi Activity Chairs are made of beech timber and birch plywood,
with metal fixings, and packaged in cardboard boxes. All of these items can be recycled in line with local
waste recycling guidance. Upholstered items, belts, and harnesses cannot currently be recycled.
