INTRODUCTION
Better Music Builder (M) is proud to introduce the 3-Way
Line Array Active/Powered Speaker System, the M-8.
Completely unique from our traditional karaoke speakers, the
M-8 gives all the fundamental qualities for karaoke, and in
addition provides power and an astonishingly appealing
look for the users’ preference.
With a powerful set of 8 inch woofers and a total of twelve
midrange units this M-8 always performs its best. Completely
taking advantage of each midrange and subwoofer this
model creates the best audio quality when playing music.
No karaoke user is left behind here as the M-8 uses all
twelve midrange units to recreate the crisp clear voice from
the lowest to the highest pitch range singers. As an
additional feature the M-8 is equipped with a “FLAT”
function that allows the user to easily adjust echo from the
microphone input, making it more compatible for applica-
tions such as singing, speeches and lectures.
With main inputs and microphone inputs being balanced
XLR type connection, the M-8 assures the best audio quality
throughout the components, providing no unwanted
feedback. With the added line outputs an additional M-8 or
power amplifier can receive audio signal directly form the
M-8, no need for splitting cables and tangling frustrations.

• Do not use the speaker’s handles for suspended installation.
Doing so can result in damage or injury.
• Do no expose the device to excessive dust, vibrations,
extreme cold or heat (such as in direct sunlight, near a
heater, or in a car during the day) to prevent the possibility
of panel disfiguration or damage to the internal

Prolonged use in this condition could cause overheating
and result in fire.
• Do not rest your weight on the device or place heavy
objects on it, and avoid using excessive force on the
buttons, switches or connectors.
GETTING STARTED
WIRING
IMPORTANT: Make sure all equipments are turned off before
making any connections.
For speaker connections, use a high-quality speaker wire with
polarity coding. The side of the wire with a ridge or other
coding is usually considered positive polarity.
If desired, consult Better Music Builder technical
support for speaker wire and connection options.
The speakers have coded terminals that accept a variety or
wire connectors.
To ensure proper polarity, connect each + terminal on the
back of the amplifier or receiver to the respective + (red)
terminal on each speaker. Connect the – (black) terminals in
a similar way. See the owner’s guides that were included
with your amplifier, receiver and television to confirm connec-
tion procedures.
IMPORTANT: Do not reverse polarities (i.e., + to – or – to +)
when making connections. Doing so will cause poor imaging
and diminished bass response.
ADJUSTING
Check the speakers for playback, first by setting the system
volume control to a minimum level, and then by applying
power to your audio system. Play a favorite music or video
segment and increase the system volume control to a comfort-
able level.
You should hear balanced audio reproduction across
the entire frequency spectrum. If not, check all wiring connec-
tions or consult the authorized dealer from whom you
purchased the system for more help.
The amount of bass you hear and the stereo-image quality
will be affected by a number of different factors, including the
room’s size and shape, the construction materials used to
build the room, the listener’s position relative to the speakers,
and the position of the speakers in the room.
Listen to a variety of music selections and note the bass level.
If there is too much bass, move the speakers away from
nearby walls. Conversely, if you place the speakers closer to
the walls, there will be more bass output.
CARING
Each enclosure has a finish that does not require any routine
maintenance. When needed, use a soft cloth to remove any
fingerprints or dust from the enclosure or grille.

EXAMPLE OF SPEAKON CONNECTOR
There are two groups on the speakon connectors: Group 1
(+1, –1) and Group 2 (+2, –2) as indicated in the diagram. In
order to use it, your speaker must have multi-functions (i.e.
enable two sources of signal for input). If your speaker does
not have multi-functions, it would not work with the Group 2
for connection. Please refer to the following diagram for
connection.

Troubleshooting
TROUBLESHOOTING
1. SYMPTOM: NO POWER
Possible causes:
• Loose power cable
• Fuse failure
• Improper power cable
• Impact damage
Remedy:
A. The product uses standard A/C power cable housing that
fits snug onto the connection; be sure the cable is inserted
completely.
B. A replaceable safety fuse protects the M8 if there is a
power spike or a short circuit. If the fuse fails, replacement is
needed.
C. Three prong A/C power cable comes with a standard; in
some occasions, the grounding prong is clipped off in order
to fit certain wall plugs. The removal of the Grounding plug
may cause internal damage to the M-8 and/or the personal
injuries, so be sure to use a proper 3-prong wall plug or UL
certified adapter.
D. If the product received significant impact damage and no
longer operates, inspect the fuses, connections and speaker
positive & negative contacts for damage. If the problem
persists, you may need to send it in for inspections and
repairs.
2. SYMPTOM: NO SOUND COMING FROM SPEAKER(S)
Possible cause:
• Power is turned OFF or no power current to the product
• Improper audio input connections
• Volume set to minimum
• Speaker connections not inserted correctly
Remedy:
A. Be sure the power switch is set ON and/or power cable
is connected properly.
B. Be sure the sources are connected to audio Inputs (Line
Out, Record Out, and Mix Out are audio outputs and do not
play any received audio)
C. The default volume setting is minimum. After connecting
sources, adjust the volume control on top of the subwoofer to
a proper level.
D. The column speakers connecting to the powered
subwoofer receive their power via the mounting location; this
connection has a locking mechanism that will engage audio
to the column speakers once properly locked. To properly
lock the column speakers; insert the column speaker onto the
mounting location at a counterclockwise angle and then turn
clockwise, an audible click confirms proper mounting.
3. SYMPTOM: ONLY LEFT SPEAKER PLAYS AUDIO (RIGHT
SPEAKER NO AUDIO)
Possible cause:
• Right speaker power is OFF
• Right speaker volume is set to minimum
• Audio source is set improperly
Remedy:
A. Be sure the power switch is set ON
B. The left and right speakers have independent volume
controls; depending on how you connect, the right speaker
needs to be leveled with the left speaker.
• If the left speaker acts as the master volume control in the
setup, adjust the right speaker to the same level as the left
speaker.
• If the setup includes a professional mixer, set both left
and right volume levels the same, then control the volume
through the mixer.
C.When using the MONO/STEREO feature, keep in mind
the right audio when set to STEREO will bypass through
“LINE OUT” for connection to the right speaker (the right
audio input of MUSIC INPUT 1 not play on the primary
speaker, it bypasses to LINE OUT to another speaker).
When connecting to the right channel speaker, if connected
to Right audio in MUSIC INPUT 1, the MONO/STEREO
switch must be on MONO since it only receives one audio
source (right audio source).
• Additionally, to avoid this issue completely, connect the
right speaker MUSIC INPUT 1 to the Left insert of the right
speaker. Since the audio is for the right channel,
it is played and be controlled as the right speaker.

18
4. SYMPTOM: NOISE/SIGNAL COMING FROM
SPEAKER(S)
Possible causes:
• The A/C power cord of the speaker(s) is not grounded
• Audio source is presenting a short circuit
• Audio cable is damaged
Remedy:
A. The product comes with a standard 3-prong A/C power
cable; do not remove the grounding prong in order to
connect to a two-prong power outlet. By removing the
grounding prong interference is no longer eliminated.
Removing the grounding prong not only voids the
warranty but could results in injury or even death.
B. The audio source is generating noise and sending the
signal to the speakers. Test a new audio source for proper
operation.
C. The audio cable is contacting opposite leads and causing
interference; replace the audio cable for a higher quality
audio cable.
5. SYMPTOM: CRACKLING SOUND COMING FROM
COLUMN SPEAKERS
Possible cause:
Tweeter(s) may be damaged.
Remedy:
Replace tweeter. We recommend hiring a professional to
change the tweeter properly.
6. SYMPTOM: SOUNDS LIKE DAZZ, DAZZ, DAZZ ........
COMING FROM SPEAKER(S)
Possible cause:
The speaker cable (with small gauges) is over 100 feet.
Remedy:
Change to a higher quality cable, preferably 12 and 14
gauges.
7. SYMPTOM: TOO MUCH MICROPHONE FEEDBACK
FROM SPEAKER(S)
Possible cause:
Incorrect tremble and bass adjustments on the speaker.
Remedy:
Adjust the tremble and bass to an appropriate level to avoid
microphone feedback.
8. SYMPTOM: SPEAKERS SOMETIMES HAVE NO SOUND
Possible cause:
When the master volume reaches the maximum level, the
speaker automatically shuts down because it has a built-in
auto circuit to protect itself when the master volume becomes
too high.
Remedy:
Change to a higher power amplifier to work with the
speakers. Be sure the output power of the amplifier matches
the speakers. Another option is to add more speakers or
subwoofers for higher output as below.
1. Add one more loudspeaker.
2. Add one more powered subwoofer.
We highly recommend hiring an audio professional for
advise on the right engineering for the amplifier and
speakers.
