TheGlobal PositioningSystem
The GlobalPositioning System(GPS)isasatellitebased systemthat provides
location and timing information around the globe.GPS isoperated andcontrolled
underthe soleresponsibilityofthe Government of the United Statesof America,
who areresponsibleforitsavailabilityand accuracy. AnychangesinGPS
availabilityand accuracy, orinenvironmentalconditions, mayimpact the
operation ofyou Binatone CarreraPersonalNavigation Device(PND).
UsingYourPND intheCar
When usingyourPND whiledriving itisessentialthat you drivewithdue care
and attention.Nevermodifythe settingsorprogramyou PND whiledriving. Only
lookatthe PND map when it issafetodo so.Whenmounting the PND inyour
carmakesurethat it doesnot obscureyourvieworimpede the operation of any
drivingcontrols.
ProhibitedAreas
Donot operateyourPND inhospitalsornearanyelectricalmedicalequipment.
Donot operateyourPND inaircraft.
Donot operatewhilesatinapetrolstationforecourt.
Battery
YourPND usesaLi-ion battery. Donot useitinhumid, wet orcorrosive
environments. Donot operateorstoreyourPND inhigh temperatures(>60℃)or
indirect sun light. Donot pierceorbreakthebatterycasing.
Failuretofollowthesecautionswillinvalidatethe warrantyand may
causethe batterytoleakacid, becomehot, explode origniteand
causeinjuryordamage.

ChargingtheBattery
Beforeusing yourPND forthe first time,werecommend you tochargethe unit for5
hoursviathe USB cableor2hoursviathecarchargerinordertocharge thebattery.
Plug theUSB cableintotheUSB socket .
Orconnectthe carchargertotheDC socket.
The red charging indicatoron the frontof theunitwilllightup.Whenthe unitisfully
charged the red light willturngreen.
Whenyou usethe PND inyou car, werecommend that you always usethecar
chargerinordertomaintainthe batterylevel.
*The USB cableisprovided forfutureoperationsand itisnot foryoursystemto
operateat present.
IfyouhaveaSDmemoryCard, you mayinstallitrefertothepicture
(below)
Switchthe unit offfirst beforeinstalling orremovingthe SDcard.
Wheninstalling it canonlybefitted one way –contactstowardsyouand the cut-off
cornerat the top. Slide thecardinand pushitinsothatit clicks inplace.
Oncethe cardisinstalledit doesnot need tobe removed.
If you needtoremovethe card, pushthe cardinand it willeject fromthe slot.
CarAdapter
Whenusing yourPND inthe carwerecommend that youalways usethe in-car
chargertopowertheunit, especiallyon long journeys.
Plug thein-carchargerintotheDC powersocket of the unit. Pug the otherendof the
adapterintothecar scigarette-lighter/ 12VDCsocket.

TurningtheSatNavUnitOn/Off
Toswitchtheunit Onslide the powerswitchlocated onthe sideof theunit tothe On
position, theunit willpowerup and displaythewarning screen.
Toswitchtheunit Offslide the powerswitchtothe Off position.
TurningtheSatNavUnitOffVia SleepMode
Press and holddownthe sleep buttonon thetop of theunit, afterabout 3seconds
the unit willentersleepmode. Press and holdthe buttonagain, tobring theunit out
of sleep mode.Whenbrought out of sleep mode the unit willshowthe samescreen
aswhen the unit enteredsleep mode.
If the unitisnot tobe usedforalong periodoftimeitisadvisedthat you slide the
powerswitchon the sideof theunit toOff.
SystemReset
Underextremecircumstancesit maybe necessarytorebootthe system. Reset the
systemif the following situation occurs:
•Long delayexperienced withscreenrefreshrateoroperation, resulting inan
inoperableunit.
•The systemwill not turnOff withthe powerbutton.
•Noresponsewithselectionmade on the screen.
The reset button canbe found onthe back of the unit. Insert the tipofthe styluspen
intothe reset switchinordertopress.The systemwill be immediatelyreset.

WindscreenHolderInstallation
The carmount hasasuction pad that fitstothewindscreenoraflat area on the
dashboard.
A. Fitting towindscreen
Pullthe leverawayfromthe suction pad. Placethe padon thewidescreen andpush
the levertowardsthe paduntilit clicks intoplace.
B. Fitting the holding bracket
It isbest tofitthistothe unitbeforeitisattached tothewindscreen.
Withtheleverfacing down, slide the bracket ontothe foursecuring lugson the end
of the carmount, making surethatthe topof the bracketisno located onthe same
side asthe lever.
C. Fitting theUnit
Slide theunitintothe bottomof the bracket andcarefullypushtheunit upuntilit
clicks intoplaceatthe top.
Toremovethe unit fromthe carmount; Press and lift the tab atthe topof thebracket
then pulltheunit forwardand up outof the bottomof the bracket.
Toremovethe Carmount fromthe windscreen; Lift the leverawayfromthe
windscreen, then gentlepullthe tabon thesuctioncup toreleasethe suction asyou
pullthe mount awayfromthe windscreen.

Volume
Press volume you can modifythevolumelevelof the voiceprompts. You can
increaseordecreasethe levelbyclicking “”or “”. Thiscan alsobe donevia

Backlight
Press ‘Backlight tochange thebrightness of the screen. You can makeitdarkeror
brighterbyclicking “”or “”. Thiscan alsobe doneviathenavigationsoftware
later.
Time&Date
Thisdevicecanauto-set the currentdateand timebyreceiving three GPS signals.
Howeveryou can alsochange itbyyourself by

format. Note: the unit doesnotsavethetime&datewhen the unitisswitched off,

Press ”Language”tochange the language byclicking << and>>
About
The Aboutpage containsinformation about yoursoftwareversion.
It alsoallowsyou todefault the unit ortocalibratethescreentoyourtouches.
The unit willbereturnedtohowitwaswhen it left the factory. Afterselectingthis
option you willbeasked toconfirm.

Reset tofactorydefault settings.
Calibrate
Thisfunctioncalibratesthe unit torespond toyourscreen taps. You willneed touse
thisfunction onlyif the unit beginstorespondinconsistentlytoyourscreen taps, then
followthe on screen dissections.Oncethecalibration hasbeencompleted, press
anywhereon the screentoreturntothe previousmenu.
Multi Media
NOTE: if you press on the MULTI MEDIAiconthe following screen isdisplayed.
PictureViewer
Thisdevicesupports, .bmpand .jpg fileformatsonly(recommended picturesizefor
optimumusage: 500kb –itisnotrecommended toviewpicturesover2mb). Press
the “Pictureviewer”toshowalist of namesforallthe picturefilesthen click onthe
fileyouwant toview.
Toviewpictures(bmpand jpeg formatsonly):
1)Copyallthe picturesyouwant toviewontoaSDcard.
2)Insert yourSDcardintothePND.
3)Select MultiMediaand then Picturevieweralist of picturesorfolderscontaining
pictureswillbe shown.

If the GPS receiverfailstoacquireavalidsignalwhen mounted inyourcarit maybe
due toaheatreflecting coating orheating elementsinyourwindscreen.
Inthesecasesuseand externalantenna.
The antenna hasamagnet and canbe positioned invariouslocationsinoroutside
yourcartoobtainthe best signalreception.
Pushthe antenna intothe socket on the rearof the unituntilit clicks intoplace.Then
positionthe antenna sothat you receiveavalidsignal.

usingit. Thisnavigationsystemleadsyoustraighttoyourdestination, whetheryou
aretravelling bycaroron foot. You cannavigateand plan yourroutewithaneasy-
to-useand intuitiveinterface, just byusing yourfinger. You can alsousethis
application toplan yourtriptosuit yourpersonalpreferencesand interestsand to
saveinteresting destinationsbeforeyourset off on yourjourney.
Thismanualleadsyou through the mainfeaturesof thesystem.
GPS connection
YournavigationdeviceusesGPS technologyfornavigation.The devicereceives
signalsfromanumberof GPS satellitesinordertodetermine yourcurrent position.
•Placeyournavigation deviceinalocation withan unobstructedviewtothe sky to
set up yourfirst satelliteconnection. Inthe carthiswillusuallymean mounting the
uniton thelowerpart of the windscreen.
Note; It maytakeup to10minutestoestablishthe firstconnection.
Subsequent connectionswillbefaster(30secondsto1minute), butif you
havenotused theunit forseveraldays orarefarawayfromthe lastlocation
whereyou used theunit,it maytakeup to10 minutesagaintofindastrong
signal.

Pleasemakesurethat the batteryinyourdeviceischarged.
Switchon the unitand fromthe menu selectNavigation.The navigationalsoftware
willstarttoload.
You willfirst see thewarningstatement screentap on “I accept”toconfirmthat you
havereadthe statement and tocontinue. If youdo not wishtobe shownthisscreen
inthe futurecheckthe boxnext to “Don t showthisstatement again”. You willnow
be shownthe Binatone screen, whichshowsthe progress ofthe loading softwareon
the yellowbarat thebottom.
Oncethe softwarehasloaded you willbeshownthe navigation mainmenu, thisis
the startingpointforallyournavigating needs.

Navigateto –Opensthe destinationpage. Fromhereyou can select a
point tonavigatetooryou can select astart/destination point andthen simulatethe
routebetween them,just asif youweredrivingit.You can alsogainaccess tothe
routeoptionssothat youcan setyourdriving preferences.
GoHome –Thisallowsyou tonavigatetoyourhomeinonesimplebutton
press. Note:you willhavetofirstset yourhomeaddressviathe settingsmenu first.
EditFavourites –Allowsyou toadd and editlocationsofinteresttoyou,so
that theycan be quicklyused againfornavigatingto.
Recent Destinations –Alist whichkeepsarecordof allthe destinations
you haverecentlyentered, sothat theycan bequicklyused againfornavigating to.
ViewMap –allowsyou toviewanypart of theinstalled map, handysothat
you can haveadetailed viewof the area around you selected destination beforeyou
set off.
Settings allowsaccess tothemainsettingoftheunit, whichyoucansettoyou
personalpreference.
Exit –Exitsfromnavigation mode back totheunit smainmenu.
SatelliteSignalIndicator –allowsyou toquicklyviewthe statusof the GPS
signal.GreenmeansaGPS lock isobtained,Greymeansthat aGPS lock cannot be
currentlyachieved.Alsoallowsforaccess tothe GPS Statusscreen when tapped.
Timebar –Showsthe currenttimeand dataasautomatically
set bythe received satellitesignals. Alsoallowsforaccess tothe TimeZone setting
when tapped.

then be simulated.
Routeoptions –Opensthe routeoptions
menu allowingyou toset yourpreferred
driving preferences.
Up/Downarrow –Used toscrolltoviewthe list of waypoints/destinationwhichare
currentlynot shown.
MoveUp/Down –Usetoshift the position ofthe waypoints/destinationyou have
entered.
OnMap –Usetoviewthe selected waypoint/destination onthe map.
Delete –Used todeleteaselected waypoint/destination fromthe list, you willbe
asked toconfirmthe deletion.The currentlyselected itemwillbehighlighted orange.
Back –Used togoback tothe mainmenu.
Go –UsetoswitchtotheNavigation screenand beginyoujourney/simulation.
Note: You can onlyenteramaximumof 10 waypoints/destination inthe list,
when the listisfullamessage willbe displayedinforming you that youhave
reached the maximumnumber.
InNavithe unit willdisplaythe listitemsinnumericalorder,when inSimulate
the firstlistitemwillbe displayed withanStoindicatethatitisyourstartpoint.
Inordertonavigateyou needavalidGPS signal,forsimulating aroutethis
can be done without aGPS signal.

list first, Beforeyou canstartanewjourney. Thishappensif the actual
destination onthe map wasnot reached. Select eachWaypoint/Destinationin
turnandtap delete, tap OKtoconfirmthe deletion
Address
The most commonlyused method forenteringa
newwaypoint/destinationintotheunit, when tapped
the Address Searchscreen willopen. Thisscreen
allowsyou toadd information intoseveralfieldsso
that you canaccuratelyfindthe location you are
lookingfor. When afieldistapped anewscreen will
be displayed showing akeypad,thisistoallowyou
toenterthe desired addressforyour
waypoint/destination.
Firstlyyou willneed toenterthe cityforwhichyourwaypoint/destination islocated.
The current countryforwhichthe addresswill
be searched forwillbe showninthe top rightof
the screen. If youwishtochange the country
tap on thecurrentlyshownname, the screen
willchangetoshowyou alistof available
countries. Usethe up/downarrowstoscroll
throughthe list, when thedesiredcountryhas
been found selectthe countrybetapping on the
nameinthe list (youwillsee ablue bar
surroundthe name). Then tapOKtoconfirm
the selection,if you donot wishtochange
countriestap Cancel.
Whenentering information intothe searchaswell asjust charactersyou havethe
followingspecialkeys.
Toenteraspaceinanentrytap the button whichisblankshownon thebottomrow.
TodeleteacharacterTapthe DELbutton.

Usethe keypadtostart toenterthe desired
city, asyou entercharactersyou willseea
list ofpossiblematchesappearasaliston
the screen. Asyou enterfurthercharacters
the list willnarrowdownuntilthereareonly
1or2optionsavailable.Thisishandyif you
do not knowhowtospellthe cityyou are
searching for, simpleenterthefirst part of
the citynameand let the unit do the rest. As
the listispopulated bypossiblematches,
the matcheswill be whiteincolour. Wait
until thelistitemshaveturneddarkblue,
then usethe up/downarrowstoscrollthroughthe list tofindthe cityyou were
lookingfor.Thensimpletap OKtoaccept theselected item.
The screen willreturnback totheAddress searchscreen andthe chosen citywill
nowappearintheCityfield.
Alternatively;if youknowthe postcodeof the waypoint/destination, select the
Postcode fieldfromthe Address Searchscreen. Enterthefullpostcode making sure
that thereisaspacebetween thetwopartsi.e. AB19CD and not AB19CD. Again
yourselectionwillbe narrowed downasyou entermorecharacters/digits. Selectthe
correctentryfromthe list andtap OK, you willbe returned tothe Address Search
screen.The road fieldwillbeautomaticallyfilled inbytheunit. youwillnoticethat
somefieldswillnowbe showningreythesefieldscan no longerbe altered.
Secondlyifyou havenotused thepostcode tosearchforyourwaypoint/destination,
you willhavetoenterthe road name. Thisisdone inexactlythe samewayasfor
entering acity.
Thirdlyyouhavethe option toenterahousenumber. If you do not knowthe house
numberitispossibletospecifythe waypoint/destination byselecting anintersection
withanotherroad. Tap crossroad, you willbe shownalist ofallthe otherroads
whicheitherjoinorcross theselectedroad. Usethe up/downarrowstoscrollthelist
untilyou find the correctroad whichintersectswithyournamed road.
At anypoint whileenteringinan address you can tap theOnMap button atthe
bottomleft of thescreentobeshownthe currentlyentered location on the map.
Onceyou arehappywiththeaddress that youhaveentered tap OK, theaddress will
be entered intothe waypoint/destination list
