Read These Warnings First.
Read all instructions before attempting to use this appliance.
Never turn on the percolator unless it contains water or coffee.
Never touch heated surfaces. Use handles and knobs provided.
Exercise extreme caution when moving any heated coffee maker.
Empty the appliance contents before attempting to lift or move it.
Never immerse the base, cord or plug in water or any other liquid.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (Including Children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience
and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the
appliance
Always unplug from power when not in use and before cleaning.
Never operate coffee maker with a damaged power cord or plug.
Any damaged cord or plug must be replaced only by a qualified
Service Provider or suitably qualified technician.
Turn the power off when not in use.
Do not allow the coffee percolator to boil dry.
Do not use any accessories or attachments not supplied by Birko.
Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces or hang over table or counter.
Never place the appliance on or near a hot burner or in a heated oven.
Always plug cord into power outlet before turning any controls on.
Always turn controls off before removing plug from power outlet.
Never use the appliance for any purpose other than its intended use.
Never overfill. Beware of scalding steam when lifting appliance lid.
Only mount on a secure surface capable of supporting at least 24Kg.
Do not tilt more than 15 degrees
Recommended for use under normal ambient conditions (5°C - 40°C )

COFFEE MEASUREMENT TABLE
The amount of coffee grounds used
can be adjusted to personnel taste by
adding to or subtracting from these
recommended qualities
Allow about one minute brewing time
per cup of coffee when brewing less
than 55 cups. Allow 45 to 50 seconds
per cup for 55 cups and over.
Operating Instructions
Before Using for the First Time
Wash basket, lid and inside of the coffee maker with hot soapy water.
Rinse with hot water and dry completely.
Clean percolating tube with tube brush or pipe cleaner and hot
soapy water.
Rinse with hot water and dry with a clean towel.
Assemble the percolating tube with the base plate, basket and top
screen,in the order shown at the left by inserting the tube into the
assembly from below. The assembly is now ready for placing into the
heater.
Wipe appliance exterior with a damp cloth and dry with a soft towel.
Measuring Water
Remove the basket and lid from the coffee maker.
Fill the coffee maker with fresh COLD water to the desired fill line.
Never fill beyond the top fill line.
Never use HOT water to make coffee.
Measuring Coffee
Measure ground coffee into the basket according to the chart.
Place the basket and tube assembly into the coffee maker heating well.
Do not force the tube into place. Place lid on coffee maker.
The lid is designed to distribute water over the coffee grounds.
Brewing Coffee
To brew coffee, plug in and turn switch to the ON position.
The red switch indicator light shows whilst brewing is in progress.
A second indicator light shows when coffee is ready to serve.
Coffee is held at serving temperature until power is turned off.
Serving Coffee
To fill cups, gently push the tap handle forward. Release to shut off.
To fill pots, pull forward (all the way) on the tap to lock it open. Flip up to
shut off.
Helpful Hints
For best results, make at least twelve cups of coffee at one time.
To preserve flavour, remove basket & grounds when
brewing is complete.
Before brewing a second batch, cool the coffee maker by rinsing
with cold water.
Use the lid as a drip catcher when removing basket and grounds.
To reheat cold coffee, remove basket and tube before plugging in.
If the tap drips, check that the tap bonnet is firmly tightened.
If drip persists, unscrew the tap bonnet, then remove and replace silicone
seat cup.

Cleaning Procedures
Regular and thorough cleaning is essential to ensure great tasting coffee.
Improper cleaning may result in lower coffee temperature, poor percolating
action and the the tube sticking in the heating well.
Before cleaning, unplug, discard any remaining coffee and allow to cool.
NOTE: This unit must not be positioned in an area that may be cleaned by a
water jet and must not be cleaned by a water jet.
Daily Cleaning
Wash basket, tube and interior with hot soapy water after each use, then
rinse interior and parts with hot water before drying.
Clean percolating tube with a long narrow brush.
Take care not to damage any part of the tube.
Run hot water through the tap to clean the tap interior.
Wipe exterior with a damp cloth and then dry with a soft towel.
Weekly Cleaning
If coffee maker is used daily clean tap mechanism weekly.
To clean tap, unscrew bonnet, remove seat cup, wash in
soapy water.
Rinse all parts in hot water, dry with a soft towel and reassemble.
Be sure the tap bonnet is tightened firmly to prevent leaks.
Never insert a brush into assembled tap as it may damage
silicone seat cup.
The heating well inside the coffee maker should be cleaned thoroughly
each week, especially if the coffee maker is used daily.
Partially fill coffee maker to above tap level with white vinegar and turn on.
When the second light goes on, unplug coffee maker and allow to cool.
Pour out vinegar and wash interior with a non chlorinated cleanser until all
mineral deposits have been removed.
Rinse interior thoroughly with hot water, then dry with a clean towel.
If the coffee maker is used to dispense hot water, this cleaning routine
should be daily.
Fortnightly Cleaning
If coffee maker is used daily it should be cleaned thoroughly each two
weeks to remove oils, coffee stains, and mineral deposits.
Fill coffee maker with cold water to the top fill line and dissolve one quarter
cup of cream of tartar in water, insert percolating tube and empty basket.
Replace lid and plug in. After brewing, unplug and allow to cool.
Pour out cream mixture, wash interior with hot soapy water, rinse with hot
water. Rinse basket and tube. Dry interior and exterior with a soft dry cloth.
