Charging
Recommended ambient temperature for charging is 41 °F to 95 ° F / 5 °C to
35 °C. The battery may not charge properly or at all under extreme low or
high temperatures. Recommended ambient temperature for trimming is 60 °F
to 95 °F / 15 °C to 35 °C. Do not expose the appliance to temperatures
higher than 122 °F / 50 °C for extended periods of time.
• Place the appliance (switched off) in the charging stand (8a) or connect it
directly to an electrical outlet via the special cord set (8).
• When charging for the first time or when the appliance is not used for
a few months, leave the appliance to charge continuously for 4 hours
(BT 5050/5030/5010: 8 hours).
• Once the appliance is completely charged, discharge it through normal use.
Then recharge to full capacity. Subsequent charges will take about 1 hour.
• A full charge provides up to 40 minutes of cordless operating time.
This may vary according to your beard growth.
• Maximum battery capacity will only be reached after several charging/
discharging cycles.

Charge Indicator (5)
BT 5090/5070
• The charge indicator shows the status of the batteries.
• The charge indicator blinks green when the appliance is being charged.
When the battery is fully charged, the charge indicator shines permanently
green provided the appliance is connected to an electrical outlet.
• During cordless use the charge indicator blinks green.
• The charge indicator flashes red when the battery is running low.
You should be able to finish your current trimming sequence.

• The charge indicator (5) shows that the appliance is being charged. When
the battery is fully charged, the charge indicator turns off.
Comb attachments (1a, 1b)
• The combs can be taken off by pressing the release buttons (1c) with your
thumb and forefinger.
Beard trimming
• Place the precision comb (1a) on the appliance with the appliance turned
off (a).
• Make sure that the lock switch (6a) is in the upper position. Turn the length
selector (6b) to your desired length. The beard comb slides automatically up
or down (possible lenght settings 1- 10 mm in 0,5 mm steps).
• To lock the comb at your desired length slide the lock switch (6a) down.
The length selector is fixed.
• It is advisable to begin with the highest setting and then reduce the setting
until you reach the desired beard length.
• Press the on/off switch (7). Hold the beard comb with the angled edge against
your beard and guide the trimmer against the direction of the hair growth (a).
• To avoid clogging the beard comb with hair, clean it from time to time with
a brush.
Contour Trimming / Styling
• The wide trimmer (2) evenly cuts and trims large areas. It is ideal for
shaping sideburns, moustaches and partial short beards. Take off the
comb. While stretching the skin, guide the wide trimmer against the
direction of hair growth (b).

• The precision trimmer (3) precisely defines lines and edges and is ideal for
precise contouring. To use the precision trimmer, press the release button
(4) and slide it up (c).
Hair cutting
The hair should be clean, well combed, tangle-free and dry.
• Place the hair comb (1b) on the appliance with the appliance turned off (d).
• Press the length selector (6c) and slide the comb to your desired length
(possible length settings 10 - 20 mm in 2 mm steps).
• If you are not used to clipping hair, begin with a highest setting and then
reduce the setting to avoid cutting more hair than desired. If you want to
cut your hair shorter than 10 mm, we advise to first cut it with the hair
comb (1b) down to 10 mm and then use the beard comb for the desired
length.
• Use a slow and controlled movement. Do not force the appliance through
the hair faster than it can be cut.
• In between, shake or blow off the hair. If too much hair is caught in the
comb, remove and clean it.
Cleaning
The appliance should be detached from the power supply cord before
cleaning it with water. The appliance should not be used until it has dried.
Regular cleaning ensures better trimming performance.
Cleaning with a brush
• Switch off the appliance. Open the wide trimmer by pressing with the
thumb against the trimmer from the front side. It opens by ca. 45° and can
also be taken off (h).
• Using a brush clean the trimmers and the space behind the wide trimmer
(inside the housing).
Cleaning with water
• Switch off the appliance and rinse the head and trimmers under warm
running water. You can also rinse the opened wide trimmer.
• Leave the appliance with opened wide trimmer to dry.

Keeping your appliance in top shape
To keep the cutting system working properly, oil it with light machine oil after
each use (i).
Preserving the batteries
In order to maintain the optimum capacity of the rechargeable batteries, the
appliance has to be fully discharged (by trimming/cutting) every 6 months
approximately. Then recharge the appliance to full capacity.
Battery removal
This appliance contains rechargeable batteries. Before disposing of the
appliance, disassemble the housing as shown, remove the rechargeable
batteries and recycle or dispose of properly, according to local guidelines.
Caution: Disassembling the appliance will destroy it and invalidate the
warranty.

Mise en charge du rasoir
La température ambiante recommandée pour la mise en charge est de 5 °C
à 35 °C (41 °F à 95 °F). Il se peut que la pile ne se recharge pas correctement
ou qu‘elle ne se recharge pas du tout à des températures extrêmement
hautes ou basses. La température ambiante recommandée pour le rasage
est de 15 °C à 35 °C (60 °F et 95 °F). Ne pas exposer l‘appareil à une
température supérieure à 50 °C (122 °F) pendant trop longtemps.
• Placer l’appareil (éteint) sur l’appui de recharge (8a) ou le brancher
directement à une prise murale à l’aide du cordon d’alimentation spécial (8).
• Lors de la première charge ou lorsque l’appareil n’est pas utilisé durant
quelques mois, laisser l’appareil charger en continu pendant 4 heures

Peignes (1a, 1b)
• Les peignes peuvent être retirés en appuyant sur les boutons d’éjection
(1c) à l’aide du pouce et de l’index.
Taille de la barbe
• Placer le peigne de précision (1a) sur l‘appareil éteint.
• S‘assurer que l‘interrupteur de verrouillage (6a) est en position haute.
Tourner le sélecteur de coupe (6b) à la longueur désirée. Le peigne pour
barbe glisse automatiquement vers le haut ou le bas (longueurs de coupes
possibles : 1 à 5 mm par étapes de 0,5 mm).
• Pour verrouiller le peigne pour couper à la longueur désirée, faire glisser le
sélecteur de coupe (6a) vers le bas.
• Il est recommandé de commencer par la coupe la plus longue et de
diminuer jusqu’à l’obtention de la longueur désirée.
• Appuyer sur l’interrupteur marche/arrêt (7). Tenir le peigne à barbe en
appuyant la lame sur la barbe et guider la tondeuse dans le sens opposé
à la repousse (a).
• Pour éviter d’obstruer le peigne avec des poils, le nettoyer de temps en
temps à l’aide de la brosse.

Taille de précision et styles
• La tondeuse large (2) permet d’égaliser et de tailler les poils sur des zones
plus larges. Elle est idéale pour tailler les favoris, la moustache et la barbe
courte. Retirer le peigne. Tout en tendant la peau, guider la tondeuse large
dans le sens opposé à la repousse (b).
• La tondeuse de précision (3) est idéale pour délimiter précisément les
contours de la barbe. Pour utiliser la tondeuse de précision, appuyer sur le
bouton d’éjection (4) et le faire glisser vers le haut (c).
Coupe des cheveux
Les cheveux doivent être propres, bien peignés, démêlés et secs.
• Placer le peigne pour couper les cheveux (1b) sur l’appareil éteint (d).
• Appuyer sur le sélecteur de longueur de coupe (6c) et glisser le peigne
pour couper les cheveux de la longueur désirée. (Longueurs de coupes
possibles : 10 à 20 mm en étapes de 2 mm).
• Si vous n’avez pas l’habitude de couper les cheveux, commencez par la
coupe la plus longue, puis diminuez la longueur de coupe pour éviter
d’enlever trop de cheveux. Si vous voulez couper vos cheveux à une
longueur de moins de 10 mm, nous vous conseillons de les couper
d’abord à une longueur de 10 mm à l’aide du peigne pour couper les
cheveux (1b), puis d’utiliser le peigne à barbe afin d’obtenir la longueur
désirée.
• Raser en faisant des mouvements lents et maîtrisés. Ne pas forcer
l’appareil à couper plus rapidement qu’il ne le permet.
• Entre-temps, secouer le rasoir ou souffler sur les cheveux. Enlever les
cheveux qui restent coincés dans le peigne et le nettoyer.
Nettoyage
L’appareil doit être débranché de son cordon d’alimentation avant d’être
nettoyé sous l’eau. Ne pas l’utiliser avant qu’il ne soit complètement sec.
Un nettoyage régulier assure une meilleure performance de rasage.
Nettoyage à l’aide d’une brosse
• Éteindre l’appareil. Ouvrir la tondeuse large en appuyant sur le devant à
l’aide du pouce. Elle s’ouvre à un angle de 45° et peut également être
retirée (h).
• À l’aide de la brosse, nettoyer les tondeuses et l’espace derrière la
tondeuse large (à l’intérieur du boîtier).
