Overview
Overview:
The T61 series thermostat is an all in one multi thermostat. This thermostat can be configured to be Non-
Programmableor Programmable (5-1-1 or 7 day) and system configured for any of the following: Heat
only, Coolonly, Heat/Off/Cool, Heat/Off/Cool/Auto, Heat/Off/Cool/Em Heat, Heat/Off/Cool/Auto/Em Heat
or Off/Auto. Once the system is selected, only those functions that are associatedwith that model are
displayed.
The LCD display and numbers are large and clear. The temperature can be read from 20ft away!
The Sof Touch screen has no buttons. Just touch the screen and the temperatures, programs, etc. can
be set.

Mounting and Installation
Remove power to the thermostat before doing any work! Installations shall be done by a
licensed electrician and/or licensed HVAC contractor. Installation and wiring shall adhere to all
state, local and federal codes and requirements.
1. Remove old thermostat cover and record wire terminationsand colors below. If new
installation, skip to step #3.

2. Remove old thermostat
3. Using a small screw driver, loosen(do not remove) the screws on the bottomof the thermostatand
swing the module out and off (Fig 1).

4. Place the back cover at the location you wish to mount the thermostat and mark
mounting holes. The thermostat should be mounted about 5 ft above the floor and away from
any supplyducts.
1. Drill the mounting holes and insert the plastic anchors (supplied)
2. Pull the HVAC wires through the wiring hole and align the back over the mounting
holes. Using the supplied screws, screw the back cover to the wall.
3. Connect the HVAC wires to the thermostat terminals as recorded in step #1 or per the
HVAC manual if new installation.
4. After the HVAC wires have been connected to the thermostat, place the batteries
(supplied) into the battery holder (see Fig 2). Make sure the polarity is correct.

1. Place the thermostat module on the base by aligning the indentations on the top with the
3 numbs on the thermostat base. Gently press down and press the thermostat in assuring
the pins and nubs fit properly (see Fig. 3).

1. Tighten the screws on the bottom of the thermostat.
2. The thermostat is now ready for testing.

Operating Your SofTouch Thermostat
The SofTouchthermostat is easy to operate and program.
The LCD screen displays the followingbuttons:
1. System
2. Fan
3. Temperature set point
1. System button:
Based upon the configuration of the thermostat, the system mode selection will be one of
the following:
a. Heat/Off
b. Cool/Off
c. Heat/Off/Cool
d. Heat/Off/Cool/Auto
e. Heat/Off/Cool/EmH
f. Heat/Off/Cool/Auto/EmH
g. Auto/Off
Automodewill turnon theheatorcoolsystembaseduponthesetpointandtheactualroom
temperature.
2. Fan button:
a. Auto –Fan runs whenever the heat or cool system is active
b. On –Fan will run continuously. This mode keeps the air circulating.
3. Temperature Set point:
To changethe set point, press the Warmer or Cooler button.
If theSofTouchthermostatisconfiguredas a programmablethermostat,theLCDwill changeas shown
in Fig. 2 when the Warmeror Coolerbuttonsare pressed.

1. Press the Warmeror Cooler button to change the programmed set point.
a. The “Run Schedule” and “Hold” button will be displayed
b. After 10 seconds, the “HOLD UNTIL” icon will be displayed
The thermostat will now controloff the new set point until the next event.At the time of the next
event, the set point will change to the programmed set point for that event.
To prevent the set point from changing at the next event time, place the thermostat in “HOLD” mode
(Fig.3).
2. Press the “HOLD” button and the “HOLD UNTIL” icon will change to “HOLD”.
1. The thermostat will control at the displayed set point until the “Run Schedule”
button is pressed. Pressing the “Run Schedule” button returns the thermostat to
the scheduled programming mode.
How Your Thermostat Functions
Heat mode
Heat mode:
1. Heating is activated when the set point is higher than the room temperature.
2. When the system is heating the icon will bedisplayed.

3. When the fan activates, the “ ” icon is displayed
1. Whenthe room temperature rises above the set point, the heating system will turn off
and the and “ ” icon will be removed from the LCD display.
Cool mode
Cool mode:
1. Cooling is activated when the set point is lower than the room temperature.
2. When the system is cooling the “ ” icon will be displayed.
3. When the fan activates, the “ ” icon is displayed
4. Whenthe room temperature decreased below the set point, the cooling system will turn
off and the “ ” and “ ” icon will be removed from the LCD display.
Note: The fan will continue to run when the heating and cooling system turns off if the FAN button is
in the “ON” mode.
Auto mode
Auto Changeover mode (Non-Programmable only):
1. Heating and cooling will activate based on the set point, room temperature, differential and
dead band that was selected. The dead band prevents the heat and cooling from rapid
cycling from one to the other. The dead band is split around the set point so if a dead band
of 4°F (factory default) and differential of 1°F is selectedand the set pointis set at 72°F, the
coolingsystem will activate when room temperaturerises to 75°and will turn off when room
temperature cools to 74°F. The heating system will activate when the room temperature
drops to 69°F and will turn off when room temperature reaches 70°F.

Emergency heat
Emergencyheatmode(Em Heat):
1. Emergencyheat mode is used with heat pump systems. It is a separate source of heat
sometimes called auxillary heat. The only system functioning will be the emergency
heating system connected to terminal “W2/E”.

The SofTouch thermostat will be configured for either 5-1-1 or 7 day programming. It
can be programmedfor up to 4 different events per day:
1. Wake –When you wake-up in the morning
2. Leave –When you leave your house
3. Return –When you return home
4. Sleep –When you go to sleep

To program the thermostat:
1. PresstheMenu
button
1. Press the Set Schedulebutton
1. Select the system you want to program (Heat or Cool)
Note: The “Next Step” button advances you one step and the “Previous Step” button takes you
back one step.
1. Press the “Next Step” button
2. The time will start to flash
3. Press the Warmeror Cooler button to set the start time for the event. Time advances in
15 minute increments
4. Press the “Next Step” button
5. The temperature will start to flash
6. Press the Warmer or Cooler button to set the temperature set point for the event.

10. Press the “Next Step” button to advance to the next EVENT Follow
steps 5 through 10 to program the remaining EVENTS.
If the thermostat is set for 5-1-1 programming, once the 4 events are programmed for Monday
through Friday, the thermostat will automatically go to Saturday when the “Next Step” button is
pressed.
Follow steps 5 through 10 to program all 4 events for Saturday.
Once the 4 events are programmed for Saturday, the thermostat will automatically go to Sunday
when the “Next Step” button is pressed.
Follow steps 5 through 10 to program all 4 events for Sunday.
If the thermostat is set for 7 day programming, the thermostat will automatically advance to the next
day once the 4 events for the current day have been programmed.
1. When the programming has been completed, press the “DONE” button to exit.
Replacing Batteries
Thelowbatteryiconwill appear when the batteries need to be changed. The low battery icon
will be displayed continuously until the batteries are replaced (Fig 4).

Display Light
To activate the display light, press the bottom of the thermostat as shown in Fig. 5.

The display light will stay on for 10 seconds.
Pressing any of the buttons will cause the display light to turn on for 10 seconds.
Resetting Filter Function
The filter function can be turned OFF or set for any number of hours ranging from 50 to 2000 hours in
increments of 50 hours. If the filter function is enabled, the filter icon, “filt”, will be displayed on the
screen when the filter counter has counted up to the selected number of hours indicating the system
filter should be changed.
After changing the filter, the thermostat filter function needs to be reset to remove the “filt” icon from
the display.

1. Press Menu button

1. Press Done button to return thermostatto normal operation

System Testing
Fantesting:
1. Press the SYSTEM button until OFF is displayedand press the FAN button until ON
is displayed.
2. The fan will turn ON.
3. Press the FAN button until AUTO is displayed.
4. The fan will turn OFF.
Heattesting:
1. Press SYSTEM button until HEAT is displayed and press the FAN button until AUTO
is displayed.
2. Press the Warmer button until the set point is at least 5 degrees above room
temperature.
3. Heat and fan will turn ON
4. Press the Cooler button until the set point is at least 1 degree below room temperature.
5. Heat and fan will turn OFF
Note:
If the 3 minute off delay is on, it may take up to 3 minutes for the heating or cooling system to
come on.
Cooltesting:
1. Press the SYSTEM button until COOL is displayedand the FAN button until AUTO
is displayed.
2. Press the Cooler button until the set point is at least 5 degrees below room temperature.
3. Cooling and the fan will turn ON
4. Press the Warmer button until the set point is at least 1 degree above room temperature.
5. Cooling and the fan will turn OFF
Note:
If the 3 minute off delay is on, it may take up to 3 minutes for the heating or cooling system to
come on.
