2.4 Important safety information
If required by applicable regulations, the heating system
has to comply with ANSI/ASME CSD-1 (Standard for
Controls and Safety Devices for Automatically Fired
Boilers).
Carbon monoxide detectors must be installed if required
by applicable regulations.

DANGER TO LIFE
from poisonous gases.
Insufficient combustion air can cause dan-
gerous flue gas leaks.
zThe ventilation and exhaust openings
must never be plugged. The cross-sec-
tion of the ventilation and exhaust
openings must comply with the design
specifications at all times.
zIf the ventilation and exhaust openings
do not comply with the specifications,
the heating system must never be oper-
ated.
zNotify operator and building owner of
the defect in writing.

FIRE DANGER
from flammable material or liquids.
zMake sure that there is no combustible
material or liquids in the boiler room be-
fore starting work.
WARNING!

from unintended use.
zThe burner may only be operated while
installed in a boiler.
CAUTION!
BURNER DAMAGE
from contaminated combustion air.
zPrevent excessive dust levels.
CAUTION!
SYSTEM DAMAGE
from blocked oil filters.
Filters that clog up immediately after filling
a tank may indicate that residue from the
bottom was stirred up.
zIn such cases it is recommended to
shut down the heating system while fill-
ing the tank and wait several hours be-
fore restarting the system. Instruct the
operator and building owners accord-
ingly.

From improper installation
zAlways follow state of the art construc-
tion techniques for installation and
maintenance, and observe all applica-
ble codes and regulations.

zDo not work on electrical components
unless you have the required qualifica-
tion.
zBefore you start working, disconnect
the heating system from electrical pow-
er by shutting off the emergency shutoff
switch, or the heating system circuit
breaker.
zIt is not sufficient to simply shut off the
controls.
zObserve all applicable codes and regu-
lations.
CAUTION!
DEVICE DAMAGE
from incorrect repair.
zDo not attempt to repair parts that have
built in safety features. Always replace
the part.
