The device has been constructed according to the latest valid regulations governing technology
and is operationally reliable. It has been tested and left the factory in a technically safe and

3.2 Intended use
The device has been constructed according to the latest valid regulations governing technology
and is operationally reliable. It has been tested and left the factory in a technically safe and
reliable state.

The device serves for switching lighting systems and is designed only for the interior area of
buildings.
3.3 Improper use
Each use not listed in Chapter 3.2 “Intended use“ on page 6 is deemed improper use and can
lead to personal injury and damage to property.
Busch-Jaeger is not liable for damages caused by use deemed contrary to the intended use of
the device. The associated risk is borne exclusively by the user/operator.
The device is not intended for the following:
■Unauthorized structural changes
■Repairs
■Outdoor use

3.4 Target group / Qualifications of personnel
3.4.1 Operation
No special qualifications are needed to operate the device.
3.4.2 Installation, commissioning and maintenance
Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the device must only be carried out by trained
and properly qualified electrical installers.
The electrical installer must have read and understood the manual and follow the instructions
provided.
The electrical installer must adhere to the valid national regulations in his/her country governing
the installation, functional test, repair and maintenance of electrical products.
The electrical installer must be familiar with and correctly apply the "five safety rules" (DIN VDE
0105, EN 50110):
1. Disconnect
2. Secure against being re-connected
3. Ensure there is no voltage
4. Connect to earth and short-circuit
5. Cover or barricade adjacent live parts
3.5 Safety instructions
Danger - Electric voltage!
Electric voltage! Risk of death and fire due to electric voltage of 100 … 240 V.
Dangerous currents flow through the body when coming into direct or indirect
contact with live components. This can result in electric shock, burns or even
death.
■Work on the 100 … 240 V supply system may only be performed by
authorised and qualified electricians.
■Disconnect the mains power supply before installation / disassembly.
■Never use the device with damaged connecting cables.
■Do not open covers firmly bolted to the housing of the device.
■Use the device only in a technically faultless state.
■Do not make changes to or perform repairs on the device, on its components
or its accessories.
■Keep the device away from water and wet surroundings.
Caution! - Risk of damaging the device due to external factors!
Moisture and contamination can damage the device.
■Protect the device against humidity, dirt and damage during transport,
storage and operation.

4 Information on protection of the environment
4.1 Environment
Consider the protection of the environment!
Used electric and electronic devices must not be disposed of with domestic
waste.
–The device contains valuable raw materials which can be recycled.
Therefore, dispose of the device at the appropriate collecting depot.
All packaging materials and devices bear the markings and test seals for proper disposal.
Always dispose of the packaging material and electric devices and their components via the
authorized collecting depots and disposal companies.
The products meet the legal requirements, in particular the laws governing electronic and
electrical devices and the REACH ordinance.
(EU Directive 2012/19/EU WEEE and 2011/65/EU RoHS)
(EU REACH ordinance and law for the implementation of the ordinance (EC) No.1907/2006).

5 Product Overview
5.1 Functions
This device is a relay insert for decentralized flush-mounted installation.
The relay insert is a Bluetooth switch for the lamps listed in section “Types of load“ on page 9.
The operation is carried out via one or several radio switches of type 6716 UBT Bluetooth Low
Energy Smart Switch and/or via the Casambi app. The app is available in the Apple App Store
and at Google Play.
The device saves the value of the last mode set and also retains it during a power failure.
Overheating protection
The device has an overheating protection. The device switches off automatically during longer
operation with a high load in a hot environment.
After cooling down or reduction of the load, the device can be switched on again.
Mesh network
The device can be integrated into a Mesh network and used as repeater for increasing the
coverage.

7 Connection, installation / mounting
7.1 Requirements for the electrician
Danger - Electric voltage!
Install the device only if you have the necessary electrical engineering
knowledge and experience.
■Incorrect installation endangers your life and that of the user of the electrical
system.
■Incorrect installation can cause serious damage to property, e.g. due to fire.
The minimum necessary expert knowledge and requirements for the installation
are as follows:
■Apply the "five safety rules" (DIN VDE 0105, EN 50110):
1. Disconnect
2. Secure against being re-connected
3. Ensure there is no voltage
4. Connect to earth and short-circuit
5. Cover or barricade adjacent live parts.
■Use suitable personal protective clothing.
■Use only suitable tools and measuring devices.
■Check the type of supply network (TN system, IT system, TT system) to
secure the following power supply conditions (classic connection to ground,
protective earthing, necessary additional measures, etc.).
7.2 Mounting / dismantling
The flush-mounted insert must only be installed in flush-mounted boxes according to DIN
49073, Part 1, or suitable surface-mounted housings.
If different types of installations are used, the applicable regulations are to be observed.
At high loads, ensure adequate cooling and distance to other devices.
Radio transmission ranges
Walls, ceilings and other building obstacles reduce the transmission range of the Bluetooth
signal.
The following ranges are guideline values and may vary depending on local conditions:

Fire walls, lift wells, staircases and supply areas are considered as separating walls, just like the
installation of the receiver in metal housings.

Do not install the device close to electric inducted magnetic fields such as large transformers
since this can interfere with the wireless communication. The distance should be at least
1 meter.

Clamps 1 and 2: Inputs for conventional buttons, e.g. extension unit buttons. They are not
described in detail in this manual.

8 Commissioning
The commissioning of the software is made via the Casambi app. Here the Bluetooth pellet (BT
pellet) and the radio switches in the Casambi app are registered in your mobile terminal device
and linked with each other.
The BT pellet must be put in operation via the software,
■if the lighting is to be controlled via a terminal device.
■if it is to be integrated into a Casambi network.
■if it is to be connected with a radio switch.
■if a timer is to be set up.
The BT pellet need not be put in operation via the software, if it is to be switched exclusively via
a normal mechanical button.
Notice
The descriptions of commissioning refer to the Casambi app version 3.6, status
03.2022. The current user manual from Casambi can be downloaded via the

Prerequisites for commissioning with Casambi app
A mobile terminal device with NFC reader is required for commissioning. In the following the
designation "Smartphone" is used representatively.
■The current version of the Casambi app is installed on your smartphone, at least however,
version 3.6.
–The Casambi app can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple App Store and from
Google Play.
■The smartphone has functions NFC (Near Field Communication) and Bluetooth.
■The BT pellet is located in the radio range of the smartphone.
■The BT pellet is supplied with voltage.
Brief instructions
1. Create a network, if not yet created (Page 14).
2. Couple the BT pellet via Bluetooth, integrate it into the network and name it (Page 16).
3. Couple the radio switches via NFC and program them, integrate them into the network and
name them (Page 20).
4. Program the radio switches to the BT pellet (Page 22).
Notice
Please observe the order of the integration of the devices. The radio switch 6716
UBT Bluetooth Low Energy Smart Switch can only be programmed to the BT
pellet when the BT pellet has been integrated into the network.

8.1 Preparation
Initial steps:
1. Permit the Casambi app to activate and use Bluetooth.
2. Permit the Casambi app to access your location.
–The specification of the location is only required if you want to use the local daytimes for
sunset and sunrise.
8.2 Setup of a network
The BT pellet and radio switch are integrated into a network in the Casambi app. If there is yet
no network, a new network must be set up.

Use the following steps to set up a new network:
1. Tap on "My networks" [1] on the start page.

2. Tap on "Set up new network" [2].
3. Select an evolution network [3].
–The evolution network is the higher value network. The classic network is not
recommended.
4. Assign a name to the network [4].
5. Activate function "Display lamps in close proximity".
–The BT pellet is recognized as lamp in the app.
6. Set enable [6].
–The option "Not enabled" is not recommended.
Attention! Access to the network with setting "Not enabled" is possible only with the
smartphone with which the network was created. Access to the network is no longer
possible if the smartphone is damaged or has been lost. To uncouple all devices and
create a new network, a complicated process is required.
7. To enable the network for the administrator access, enter an e-mail address. This stores
and secures the network in the Casambi Cloud.
8. Assign a strong password under "Administrator password" or add a new password for a
user.
9. Tap on "Finished" [5].
–The network is created and stored in the "My networks" function.
–The main page of the new network is displayed.
The network has now been set up.
Notice
Lost user passwords can only be reassigned via an administrator access.
Recommendation
Install a backup clock in your network so that date and time are automatically
synchronized after a power failure.
Without a backup clock you need to use a smartphone or gateway for the
synchronization in order to receive the correct date and time from the Cloud.

8.3 Add Bluetooth pellet
Two different types of devices can be integrated in a network in the Casambi app: Bluetooth
pellet and radio switch with NFC sensor.
In this section you add a BT pellet to a Casambi app.
To add a radio switch, see chapter “Add radio switch“ on page 20.

The Casambi app searches automatically for all active Bluetooth devices and shows the
number of devices found on the start page behind "Devices in proximity" [1].
To add a BT pellet, perform the following steps:
1. Open the page "Devices in proximity" [1].
–The located Bluetooth devices are displayed.
–The designation of the device is in field [2].
–All coupling information of the device is at point [4]. The coupling status must be
"Uncoupled".

–If the coupling status is "Coupled", the device must first be uncoupled from the
network, see chapter 8.7 “Uncoupling Bluetooth pellet“ on page 26. Devices that are
already coupled cannot be added to any other network.
2. Tip on the information field of the device [3].
3. In list faded in select the "Add to ..." function [5].
–The page "Select network" opens.
4. Select the desired network [6].
–The selected BT pellet is coupled automatically and added to the network.
–The start page opens.
–The number of the added devices is displayed behind "My networks" [7].
It can take several seconds until the new device is displayed.

8.4 Renaming the device
In this section the name of a BT pellet is changed.
Renaming is not absolutely necessary, yet it is recommended. Meaningful naming makes it
easier to allocate the connected devices to specific rooms.

To rename a BT pellet, perform the following steps:
1. Tap on "My networks" [1] on the start page.
–The list with the created networks opens.
2. Tap on the desired network.
–The main page of the network is displayed.
3. Tap on "Editing" [2].
–The integrated devices are marked with a small cross.
4. Tap on the device that is to be renamed [3].

–The characteristics of the device are displayed.
5. Enter a new name [5] in field "Name" [4].
6. Change to the previous page via the navigation bar [6].
The device with the new name is displayed on the start page of the network [7].

8.5 Add radio switch
Adding of radio switches in a Casambi network is performed in two sections:
■Change into the list of the integrated devices of the desired network.
–Here there is an automatic search for updates for all integrated devices.
■Read in the radio switch.
–The integration into the desired network takes place automatically.

Use the following steps to add a radio switch:
1. Tap on "My networks" [1] on the start page.
–The list with the created networks opens.
2. Tap on the desired network [2].
–During a change into the network there is an automatic search for updates for all
integrated devices. If an update is available, the function "Firmware update" [3] opens.
Perform this function or skip it.
–The main page of the network is displayed.
3. Tap on "More" [4].
