BASIC SETUP & SETTINGS
• Charge the Back Track Mini until it is fully charged before use. Plug in provided charging cable and charge unit from
any USB port.
• Go outdoors. Press and hold POWER (1) until the display comes on. Wait for the GPS satellite to connect (10)
(Fig. 1). The percentage indicates the strength of the satellite signal. It may take a few minutes to find the satellite
signal after the first power-up in a new area.
• Press and hold the SELECT (2) button for 3 seconds to access the menu. (Fig. 2)
• Select SETTINGS to adjust the Time, Units, Backlight, Reset, FW Upgrade, and About. Press SELECT (1) to choose
which option you wish to make changes.
Time: 1) Format: 12 HOUR or 24 HOUR
2) Daylight Saving: OFF or ON
3) Time Zone: Press the Select button to choose your time zone preference and time display format.
Unit: 1) Unit: English (Ft, MPH) or Metric (M, KPH)
2) Temperature: °F or °C
3) Coordinates: DMS (Degrees, Minutes, Seconds), DMM (Degrees, Decimal Minutes), or DD (Degrees)
Timer: 1) Frequency - Off, Daily, Weekday, Weekend
2) Time - Set timer by selecting Hour, Minutes and AM/PM
Backlight:1) Period - 15 sec., 30 sec., 60 sec., 90 sec.
2) Brightness - Low, Medium, High
Reset: Do Factory Reset? Yes or No
FW Upgrade: Follow instructions to upload a le?

WAYPOINTS - Waypoints are locations you record and store or upload to the device. Waypoints can mark where
you are, where you are going, or where you have been.
• While in the Settings menu, select WAYPOINTS. Before creating a new Waypoint, be sure to check that the GPS
signal is fixed. This is indicated by the Satellite Icon being fixed, not flashing.
• The Back Track Mini will not save a new Waypoint if there is not enough internal memory available. The user will
need to release enough memory space to create a Waypoint. (Fig. 3)
• On the Create screen, select one of 18 Location icons (Fig. 4. While standing at the location you want to mark,
press the Toggle Down button (4) to highlight and select MARK (Fig. 5) to save the position in the Back Track Mini’s
memory.
• Waypoint name: WayPoint - Date - Time “WP092121-1429” Waypoint September 21, 2021 - 12:29pm
• To return to the location you marked, press the Power button (1) to return to the home screen. From the home
screen, press the Select key (2) to see the Elevation, Pressure, Sunrise, Sunset, Moonrise and Moonset of your
current location. (Fig. 6)
• Press the Toggle Up or Down buttons to see the Hunt/Fish Times. (Fig. 7)
• Press Select (2) to view the Compass screen (Fig. 8), displaying the Latitude and Longitude of your current location, and a Digital Compass
Display (Fig. 9) including your heading (direction of travel) in degrees.
• Once the Waypoint is created, go back to Waypoints in the Settings menu and choose View All
(Fig. 10). Waypoint order is by the time waypoint is created (i.e. its default lename). The latest
waypoint is on top and the oldest is on bottom. Choose a Waypoint to edit the usage of that specic
Waypoint. (Fig. 11)
- Show: Waypoint is visible and available to be added to a Trip.
- Hide: Waypoint is saved, but not visible and cannot be added.
- Delete: Permanently delete the Waypoint from the unit.

Waypoint Saving Shortcut:
Standing at the location you want to mark, press the Select (2) and Toggle Down (4) at the same time.

* When the device is close to the Waypoint, within 10 meters, the system will show a gure (Fig.12) to
let the user know they have arrived at the Waypoint.

TRIPS - STARTING, RECORDING & USING WAYPOINTS
• While in the Settings menu, select TRIP. Before creating a new Trip, be sure to check that the GPS signal is fixed. This
is indicated by the Satellite Icon being fixed, not flashing. (Fig. 2)
• The Back Track Mini will not save a new Trip if there is not enough internal memory available. The user will need to
release enough memory space to create a Trip. (Fig. 3)
• On the Create screen, select START TRIP (Fig. 14) to create a Trip from one Waypoint to another you have linked and
are in range of your current location. If “NO WAYPOINT” is shown, there are no saved Waypoints available. On this
screen, you will see point coordinates, elevation and temperature. The Trip with linked Waypoints will appear. (Fig.
15)
• Pressing the Toggle Down (4) button, will show the Digital Compass Display for each linked Waypoint.
• When you have completed your Trip, go to the Settings Menu/Trips and choose STOP TRIP. To access the Trip to
restart, go back to TRIPS and choose VIEW ALL.
• Maximum log time for a single trip is 50 hours. If memory for a single trip is full (over 50 hrs) during trip
recording, system will log to the last point. Then, system will pop-up a message (Fig. 3) to stop and save trip.
CONNECTION
Through the Connection option in the Menu, the user is able to connect the Back Track Mini to their smart phone,
portable Bluetooth device or computer.
• Phone: To connect the Back Track Mini to your smart phone so it can interact with the Bushnell Connect App, choose
TO PHONE option. Open the menu on your smart phone that shows all available Bluetooth devices and choose Back
Track Mini when it is available.
• Computer: To connect to your computer, plug in the USB cable, provided for charging, into your computer or
laptop. This will allow your computer to read the Back Track Mini as an external drive. You will be able to save
Waypoints and Trips to your computer to open memory space on your Back Track Mini unit.
COMPASS CALIBRATION (COMP CALIBR)
• To ensure directional accuracy, hold the Back Track Mini out in front of you and move it in a “Figure 8” pattern a few
times to re-calibrate the compass. A compass calibration video is available at: http://www.bushnell.com/products/

• We recommend holding the Back Track Mini in a horizontal position (not tilted) during use.
ALTERNATE CALIBRATION (ALT CALIBR)
• If you wish to manually enter your current altitude, you may enter it through the Alternate Calibration option in the
Menu. Press Select (2) to scroll through each field and use the Toggle Up or Down buttons (3& 4) to set the altitude.
When finished, a pop up noting “Altitude Saved!” will appear.

VIEWING TRIP DATA IS THIS STILL CORRECT INFO? THE URL DOES NOT POPULATE
After recording at least one trip, connecting the Back Track Mini to your computer will enable you to see the path you took on any of the four types
of map, view a trip data graph, and share your trip via email or social media. To get the software:
• Go to http://backtrackdtour.com/, follow the directions to create an account (free), register your Back Track Mini, and download the software
app (Fig. 13, next pg.). Your account provides online backup for all your trip data. After registering, click “Download Now” on the screen, then
select “Open”. A link to download the software will also be provided in your confirmation email. Turn on the Back Track Mini and connect its
USB port to your computer with the supplied USB cable. On Windows® PCs, the app should open automatically (if not, click the desktop icon
(Fig. 15)). On Mac®, double click the “Back Track Mini” icon in your Applications folder to launch the application.
• Enter the User Name (email address) and password you used when setting up your account, then select “LOGIN” (Fig. 16). This will enable all
your trip data stored within your online account to be automatically backed up and accessible to you from any computer.
•
USING THE Back Track Mini APP (Fig. 17)
• After the Back Track Mini app opens, you will see one or more gray folders on the left (a) below “My Downloaded Tracks”, each labeled with a
date. Each folder contains information on the trips taken in a 24 hour period.
• Click the folder to open it and view the individual trips (b) you made on that date (the duration of each trip is based on the time elapsed
between the starting and stopping of a new trip recording when you held down the TRIP button).
• The route you traveled for each trip is shown as a colored line (c) on a map. Four types of maps are available-click on the name of a map type
(d) to change the view:
MAP-a “road map” style view, complete with road names.
SATELLITE-an aerial photo of the area.
HYBRID-a combination of the first two maps.
TERRAIN-this is a topographic map showing elevation data for the area.
• The zoom slider and position arrow pad allow you to zoom in/out and move around on the map (e).
• Click on the name of a trip to highlight it on the map. You can hide any trip by clicking on the “eye” icon next to its name (f).
• To change the name of a folder (from the default date to something like “Canyon Trip Day 1”), right-click on its name. You can also right-click
on a trip within the folder to rename it.
USING THE Back Track Mini APP (Fig. 18)
• Clicking on the “handle” (g) at the bottom center of the map screen will open a popup graph displaying the trip’s altitude, temperature, and
speed data. You can use the pull-downs (h) to change how the data is displayed. This feature is ideal for runners and bikers that want to track
their performance on an exercise course over time.
• Click the plus (+) icon on the bottom left (i) to create a new folder. Existing trips can be dragged from their original folder into the new one.
• To delete a trip or trips folder, drag it to the trash icon (j).
• If you’d like to share the details of your trips, we’ve made it easy. Just click “Export Current Map” (k) and select a save or share option.
• The “Save As” option allows you to export the current map view as a .jpg photo.
• When you have finished using the Back Track Mini application, you don’t need to log out. Instead, close the application (l). Your trip data is
automatically saved in your account.
USING THE Back Track Mini APP ON OTHER COMPUTERS
If you want to access your Back Track Mini trip information from another computer, no need to create a new account. Instead, log in to your
account at http://backtrackdtour.com, click on the download link, and install the app.
LOGIN/CHANGE PASSWORD
If you log out of the Back Track Mini application, you will be prompted to log in again the next time you launch the application. If you forget your
password or want to change it, you may click on the “Forgot Password?” link on the application log in screen (Fig. 19). You may also change your
password after logging in to your existing account at http://backtrackdtour.com. Next, click “My Profile” in the menu at the top of the screen (Fig.
20).

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is operated by the government of the United States, which is solely responsible
for its accuracy and maintenance. The system is subject to changes which could affect the accuracy and performance
