Caution

israisedbeforemoving refrigerator. Raise
stabilizing leg by turning counterclockwise.
g. Slideappliancecartundersideof refrigerator. Wrap
refrigeratorwith blanketor pad. Thread cart strap
aroundrefrigerator and tighten. Do notovertighten
strap.Moverefrigeratorinfrontof final location.
h. Reversedoors if necessary.
Installation Instructions
Properinstallation will ensure this refrigeratoroperates
mostefficiently. Amana cannot be responsiblefor
improperinstallation.
1. Remove and reverse doors if necessary.
a. Removetop hingecover.Removetop hinge.
b. Removefreezer door.
c. Liftdoor closure off centerhingepin. Remove center
hingepin.
d. Removerefrigerator door.
e. Removecenter hinge bracket.
f. Removetoegrilleandbottomhinge cover. Remove
bottom hinge.
i. Rehang doors by reversing steps a-f.
•Use a penny at top to space door 3/4" (18 mm)
from cabinet.
•Handleside ofdoor should be approximately 1/8"
(3mm) higher than hinge side.
2. Connect ice maker water supply line.
•See instructions on rear of refrigerator cabinet.
3. Plug in power cord.
4. Move refrigerator into final location.
5. Level refrigerator.
a. Removetoegrille.Removebottomhingecoverif
refrigeratorhas a stabilizingleg.
b. Turnroller adjustment screwto raise or lower
refrigeratorcabinet.Frontof refrigerator must be
1/4" (6 mm) higher than back.
c. Turnstabilizingleg(some models) clockwise until
firmlyagainstfloor.

Consumer Installer Doors
Handles are solidly attached to doors.
Handle side of door is 1/8" (3 mm) higher than hinge side. (Door lowers when
loadedwithfood.)
Doorssealcompletely to refrigeratorcabinet.
Leveling
Refrigeratoristilted 1/4" (6 mm)fromfrontto rear.
Toe grille is properly attached to refrigerator. Toe grille fits only one way.

Controls
Thisrefrigerator operates at householdtemperatures of
55° to 110°F(13° to 43°C).
Exterior Moisture Control
ExteriorMositure Controlis located on center divider
betweenrefrigerator and freezersections.
Inhumid conditions, refrigerators form condensation
arounddoors.Specialheaters in refrigerator cabinet
minimizecondensation.
Humiditydepends on location ofrefrigerator.Set control to
ONif refrigerator is in ahumid area orwhenever moisture
is evident around doors. Set control to OFF if refrigerator
is in a less humid area. Setting can be adjusted as
conditionschange.
High quality steel is used in this refrigerator. However,
constant exposure to moisture may cause refrigerator
cabinet to rust. Set control to ON anytime condensation
formson refrigerator cabinet.
Setting Controls
Setcontrols preciselywith a household thermometer that
includestemperatures between -5° to 50°F
(-21°to10°C).
Put thermometer snugly between frozen packages in
freezersection. Wait 5-8 hours.Iffreezer temperature is
not 0° to 2°F (-17° to -16°C), adjust control, 1 number at a
time.Check again after 5-8 hours.
Put thermometer in a glass of water in middle of
refrigeratorsection.Wait5-8 hours. If refrigerator
temperature is not 38° to 40°F (3° to 4°C), adjust control,
1number ata time. Check again after 5-8 hours.
Refrigerator and Freezer Controls
Refrigeratorand freezer controlsare located on center
dividerbetweenrefrigeratorandfreezersections.
When freezer control is set to OFF,neither refrigerator nor
freezer sections will cool. Initially, set both controls to 4.
Wait24 hours for refrigeratorandfreezer sections to
reachdesired temperatures. After 24hours, adjust
controls, one number at a time, as desired. 1 is warmest
setting and 7 is coldest.

Refrigerator Features

Refrigerator Shelves
Modelsfeature eitherglass or wire shelves. Shelves
adjustto meet individual storage needs.
Caution

nicked, scratched, or exposed to sudden
temperature change.
•Remove shelves by lifting front, releasing hooks
frommetaltrack then pullingout.
•Replace shelves by inserting hooks into metal track
andloweringfront.
Crisper Drawers (Some models)
Crisperskeep produce freshlonger. Wrap produce tightly.
Do not wash produce before placing in crispers. Excess
moisture could cause produce to spoil prematurely. Do
not line crispers with paper towels. Paper towels will
retainmoisture.
Crisper control is located below front shelf trim. Control
adjusts humidity in crispers. Standard drawers are
permanently set at high humidity. Slide control to high for
producewith leavessuch as lettuce, spinach or cabbage.

Covered Storage Bucket (Some models)
Storage bucket has a lid and removable egg tray. When
tray is removed, bucket will accept items such as a
standard egg carton, ice, etc.

Care and Cleaning
WARNING
To avoid electrical shock which can cause

powertorefrigeratorbeforecleaning.After
cleaning, connect power.
Caution
To avoid personal injury or property damage,
readand follow all cleaning product
manufacturer'sdirections.
General
1. Wash surfaces with 4 tablespoons baking soda
dissolved in 1 quart warm water and a soft, clean
cloth.
2. Rinse surfaces with warm water. Dry surfaces with a
soft, clean cloth.
•Donot use the following items:
-abrasiveor harsh cleaners, ammonia, chlorine
bleach, etc.
-concentrateddetergentsorsolvents
-metal scouring pads
These items can scratch, crack and discolor
surfaces.
•Do not place buckets, shelves, etc. in dishwasher.
Odor Removal
1. Removeallfood and disconnect powertorefrigerator.
2. Cleanallinterior surfaces including ceiling,floor,and
walls according to “General” instructions. Pay special
attentiontocorners, crevices, and grooves.Includeall
drawers, shelves, and gaskets.
3. Connectpowertorefrigeratorandreturnfoodto
refrigerator.Wash and dryall bottles, containers and
jars. Wrap foods in tightly sealed containers to
preventfurther odor. After24 hours, check if odorwas
eliminated.
Completethe followingsteps if odor was not eliminated.
4. Complete steps 1-2.
5. Placegarden freshcrispers on top shelf of Fresh
Food section. Pack refrigerator and freezersections
includingdoors withcrumpled sheets of black and
white newspaper.
6. Placecharcoalbriquettesrandomly throughout
newspaper.
7. Close doors and let stand 24-48 hours.
8. Removecharcoalbriquettesand newspapers.
9. Complete steps 2-3.

Adhesives
1. Remove glue residue by rubbing toothpaste into
adhesivewithfingers until adhesiveloosens.
2. Rinsesurface withwarm water. Dry surface with a
soft, clean cloth.
Door Gaskets
1. Clean door gaskets every 3 months according to
“General” instructions.
2. Apply a light film of petroleum jelly to keep gaskets
pliable.
Condenser Coils
Cleancondenser coilevery 3 months to ensure maximum
performanceofrefrigerator. Accumulateddustandlint
may cause the following:
•reducedcooling performance
•increased energy usage
•prematurepartfailure
1. Removetoegrilleby holding ends and pullingforward.
2. Cleanfront surface of condensercoilwith a vacuum
cleaner hose nozzle.
3. Replace toe grille by inserting clips in holes and
snapping in.
Caution
To avoidpropertydamage,protectsoftvinylor
otherflooring with cardboard, rugs, orother
protectivematerial.Verifystabilizinglegis
raisedbefore movingrefrigerator.Raise
stabilizing leg by turning counterclockwise.
4. Pullrefrigerator away fromwall. Run a vacuum
brush across condenser fan outlet grille on back
ofrefrigerator.
Glass Shelves
Caution
To avoid personal injury or property damage,
handletemperedglassshelves carefully.
Shelvesmaybreak suddenly ifnicked,
scratched, or exposed to sudden temperature
change.
Removeshelf by lifting front,releasinghooks from metal
track then pulling out. Place shelf on a towel. Allow shelf
toadjusttoroom temperature before cleaning.
Clean crevices by completing the following steps:
1. Dilutemild detergent andbrush solution into crevices
using a plastic bristle brush. Let set for 5 minutes.
2. Spraywarm water intocrevices using faucet spray
attachment.
3. Dryshelf thoroughly andreplace shelf by inserting
hooksinto metal track andlowering front.
Light Bulbs
WARNING
To avoid electrical shock which can cause
severepersonal injury or death, disconnect
powerto refrigerator before replacinglight bulb.
Afterreplacinglightbulb,connectpower.
Caution
To avoidpersonal injury orproperty
damage,observe thefollowing:
•Allow light bulb to cool.
•Weargloveswhen replacing lightbulb.
•Removelightbulbcoverby removing screw at back
center.Pull cover down. Replacebulb(s) with 40-watt
appliancebulb(s).
•Replacelightbulbcoverbyplacingcoveroverlight
bulb. Insert and tighten screw.
