Caution

Installation Instructions

1. Remove and reverse doors if necessary.
a. Removetop hingecover.Removetop hinge.
b. Removefreezer door.
c. Liftdoor closure off centerhingepin. Remove center
hingepin.
d. Removerefrigerator door.
e. Removecenter hinge bracket.
f. Removetoegrilleandbottomhinge cover. Remove
bottom hinge.
i. Rehang doors by reversing steps a-f.
•Use a penny at top to space door 3/4" (18 mm)
from cabinet.
•Handleside ofdoor should be approximately 1/8"
(3mm) higher than hinge side.
2. Connect ice maker water supply line.
•See instructions on rear of refrigerator cabinet.
3. Plug in power cord.
4. Move refrigerator into final location.
5. Level refrigerator.
a. Removetoegrille.Removebottomhingecoverif

b. Turnroller adjustment screwto raise or lower

Handles are solidly attached to doors.
Handle side of door is 1/8" (3 mm) higher than hinge side. (Door lowers when
loadedwithfood.)

Controls
Thisrefrigerator operates at householdtemperatures of
55° to 110°F(13° to 43°C).
Exterior Moisture Control
ExteriorMositure Controlis located on center divider
betweenrefrigerator and freezersections.
Inhumid conditions, refrigerators form condensation
arounddoors.Specialheaters in refrigerator cabinet
minimizecondensation.
Humiditydepends on location ofrefrigerator.Set control to
ONif refrigerator is in ahumid area orwhenever moisture
is evident around doors. Set control to OFF if refrigerator
is in a less humid area. Setting can be adjusted as
conditionschange.
High quality steel is used in this refrigerator. However,
constant exposure to moisture may cause refrigerator
cabinet to rust. Set control to ON anytime condensation
formson refrigerator cabinet.
Setting Controls
Setcontrols preciselywith a household thermometer that
includestemperatures between -5° to 50°F
(-21°to10°C).
Put thermometer snugly between frozen packages in
freezersection. Wait 5-8 hours.Iffreezer temperature is
not 0° to 2°F (-17° to -16°C), adjust control, 1 number at a
time.Check again after 5-8 hours.
Put thermometer in a glass of water in middle of
refrigeratorsection.Wait5-8 hours. If refrigerator
temperature is not 38° to 40°F (3° to 4°C), adjust control,
1number ata time. Check again after 5-8 hours.
Refrigerator and Freezer Controls
Refrigeratorand freezer controlsare located on center
dividerbetweenrefrigeratorandfreezersections.
When freezer control is set to OFF,neither refrigerator nor
freezer sections will cool. Initially, set both controls to 4.
Wait24 hours for refrigeratorandfreezer sections to
reachdesired temperatures. After 24hours, adjust
controls, one number at a time, as desired. 1 is warmest
setting and 7 is coldest.

•Remove shelves by lifting front, releasing hooks

Crisper Drawers (Some models)
Crisperskeep produce freshlonger. Wrap produce tightly.
Do not wash produce before placing in crispers. Excess
moisture could cause produce to spoil prematurely. Do
not line crispers with paper towels. Paper towels will
retainmoisture.
Crisper control is located below front shelf trim. Control
adjusts humidity in crispers. Standard drawers are
permanently set at high humidity. Slide control to high for
producewith leavessuch as lettuce, spinach or cabbage.

tray is removed, bucket will accept items such as a

General
1. Wash surfaces with 4 tablespoons baking soda
dissolved in 1 quart warm water and a soft, clean
cloth.
2. Rinse surfaces with warm water. Dry surfaces with a
soft, clean cloth.
•Donot use the following items:
-abrasiveor harsh cleaners, ammonia, chlorine
bleach, etc.
-concentrateddetergentsorsolvents
-metal scouring pads
These items can scratch, crack and discolor
surfaces.
•Do not place buckets, shelves, etc. in dishwasher.
Odor Removal
1. Removeallfood and disconnect powertorefrigerator.
2. Cleanallinterior surfaces including ceiling,floor,and
walls according to “General” instructions. Pay special
attentiontocorners, crevices, and grooves.Includeall
drawers, shelves, and gaskets.
3. Connectpowertorefrigeratorandreturnfoodto
refrigerator.Wash and dryall bottles, containers and
jars. Wrap foods in tightly sealed containers to
preventfurther odor. After24 hours, check if odorwas
eliminated.
Completethe followingsteps if odor was not eliminated.
4. Complete steps 1-2.
5. Placegarden freshcrispers on top shelf of Fresh
Food section. Pack refrigerator and freezersections
includingdoors withcrumpled sheets of black and
white newspaper.
6. Placecharcoalbriquettesrandomly throughout
newspaper.
7. Close doors and let stand 24-48 hours.
8. Removecharcoalbriquettesand newspapers.
9. Complete steps 2-3.

Adhesives
1. Remove glue residue by rubbing toothpaste into
adhesivewithfingers until adhesiveloosens.
2. Rinsesurface withwarm water. Dry surface with a
soft, clean cloth.
Door Gaskets
1. Clean door gaskets every 3 months according to
“General” instructions.
2. Apply a light film of petroleum jelly to keep gaskets
pliable.
Condenser Coils
Cleancondenser coilevery 3 months to ensure maximum
performanceofrefrigerator. Accumulateddustandlint
may cause the following:
•reducedcooling performance
•increased energy usage
•prematurepartfailure
1. Removetoegrilleby holding ends and pullingforward.
2. Cleanfront surface of condensercoilwith a vacuum
cleaner hose nozzle.
3. Replace toe grille by inserting clips in holes and
snapping in.
Caution
To avoidpropertydamage,protectsoftvinylor
otherflooring with cardboard, rugs, orother

4. Pullrefrigerator away fromwall. Run a vacuum
brush across condenser fan outlet grille on back
ofrefrigerator.
Glass Shelves
Caution

Shelvesmaybreak suddenly ifnicked,
scratched, or exposed to sudden temperature
change.
Removeshelf by lifting front,releasinghooks from metal
track then pulling out. Place shelf on a towel. Allow shelf
toadjusttoroom temperature before cleaning.
Clean crevices by completing the following steps:
1. Dilutemild detergent andbrush solution into crevices
using a plastic bristle brush. Let set for 5 minutes.
2. Spraywarm water intocrevices using faucet spray
attachment.
3. Dryshelf thoroughly andreplace shelf by inserting
hooksinto metal track andlowering front.
Light Bulbs
WARNING
To avoid electrical shock which can cause
severepersonal injury or death, disconnect
powerto refrigerator before replacinglight bulb.
Afterreplacinglightbulb,connectpower.
Caution
To avoidpersonal injury orproperty

•Allow light bulb to cool.
•Weargloveswhen replacing lightbulb.
•Removelightbulbcoverby removing screw at back
center.Pull cover down. Replacebulb(s) with 40-watt
appliancebulb(s).

bulb. Insert and tighten screw.

2. If an ice maker is installed, move ice maker arm to off
position.
Completethe following steps forlong vacations.
1. EmptyRefrigeratorandFreezer sections.
2. Unplugrefrigerator.
3. Cleanrefrigeratoranddoor gaskets according to
“General”instructions in “Care and Cleaning”section.
4. Prop doors open, so air can circulate inside.
5. If an ice maker is installed, turn water supply to
refrigeratoroffandmoveicemakerarmtooff
position.

Normal Operating Sounds
Thisnew refrigeratormay be replacing a differently
designed, less efficient or smaller refrigerator. Today’s
refrigeratorshavenewfeaturesandare more energy
efficient. As a result, certain sounds may be unfamiliar.
Thesesounds are normaland will soonbecome familiar.
Thesesounds alsoindicate refrigerator is operating and
performingas designed.
1. Freezer fan air rushes and whirs.
2. Sealed system (evaporator and heat exchanger)
refrigerantflowgurgles, pops or soundslikeboiling
water.
3. Condenser fan air rushes and whirs.
4. Compressor hasa high pitched hum orpulsating
sound.
5. Defrost timer sounds like an electric clock and
snaps in and out of defrost cycle.
6. Freezer control clicks when starting or stopping
compressor.
7. Defrost heater sizzles, hisses or pops.
8. Ice cubes from ice maker(some models) drop into
ice bucket.
Water valve (some models) buzzes when ice maker
fillswith water. Thisoccurs whether ornot refrigerator
is connected to water supply. If refrigerator is not
connected to water supply, stop sound by raising ice
maker arm to off position. (Not shown)
Foaminsulation is veryenergy efficient and has
excellentinsulatingcapabilities.However, foam
insulation is not as sound absorbent as
previously used fiberglass insulation. (Not shown)

• Wait 40 minutes to see if refrigerator restarts. If
freezer control is on, lights work but 2 fans and
compressorarenot operating, refrigerator maybein
defrost cycle.

• Unplugrefrigerator. Transfer food toanother unit
orplace dry icein freezer section to preservefood.

Instructions d’Installation
Une installation adéquate assurera le fonctionnement
efficacedece réfrigérateur. Amana Refrigeration,Inc.ne
peut être tenue responsable en cas d’installation
inadéquate.
1. Enlever et inverser les portes si nécessaire.
Attention
Pouréviter tous dégâts matériels,recouvrir les
planchersen vinyle ouautre type de plancher
avecdu carton,des tapis ou autre matériel de
protectionavantde déplacer leréfrigérateur.
g. Glisser le chariot servant à transporterl’appareil sous
lecôté duréfrigérateur.Recouvrirle réfrigérateuravec
uncoussinouunecouverture.Enfilerlacourroiedu
chariotautour du réfrigérateur etserrer.Ne pas trop
serrerlacourroie. Déplacer leréfrigérateurdevant
l’endroitdésiré.
h. Inverser les portes si nécessaire.
•Lelogodelaplaquedu fabricant s’inversera
automatiquement.
•Replacer la tige de support interne sur le côté
charnièredelaporteducongélateur avant de
poser la porte.
i.Replacer lesportes en procédant à l’inverse des étapes
a-f.
•Utiliser une pièce d’un sou sur le dessus des
portes pour créer un espace de 3/4" (18 mm) entre
laporteetl’appareil.
•Le côté de la porte où se situe la poignée doit être
1/8" (3 mm) plus élevé que le côté de la charnière.

2.Raccorder l’appareil à glaçons au tuyau
d’alimentation en eau.
•Voirlesinstructionsà l’arrière du réfrigérateur.
3. Brancher le cordon d’alimentation.
4. Déplacer le réfrigérateur à l’endroit désiré.
5. Mettre le réfrigérateur de niveau.
a.Enlever la grille.Enleverle couvercle de lacharnière
inférieuresi le réfrigérateurest muni d’unpied de
stabilisation.
b. Tournerla vis deréglage du rouleau pour éleverou
abaisserleréfrigérateur.L’avant du réfrigérateur doit
être1/4"(6mm)plusélevé que l’arrière.
c. Tourner le pied de stabilisation (disponible sur certains
modèles) dans le sens horaire jusqu’à ce qu’il repose
fermementsurleplancher.

Cette liste de contrôle d’installation est présentée pour usage personnel seulement.

Le côté de la poignée de porte est 1/8 po (3 mm) plus élevé que le côté de la charnière de la
porte.(La porte s’abaisselorsqu’elle est rempliede nourriture.)

Mise à niveau
Leréfrigérateurest incliné de 1/4"(6mm)de l’avant vers l’arrière.

Commandes
Ceréfrigérateur fonctionne defaçon plus efficace lorsque
la température ambiante se situe entre 55oet 110 oF (13
oC à 43 oC).
Commandes du Réfrigérateur et du
Congélateur
Lescommandes duréfrigérateur et du congélateur sont
situées sur la cloison centrale séparant ces deux parties.
Lorsquela commandecongélateur est en position OFF
(ARRÊT), ni l’un ni l’autre des compartiments
Réfrigérateuroucongélateurne refroidiront. Au départ,
régler ces deux commandes sur 4. Attendre 24 heures
avantquelescompartiments réfrigérateur et congélateur
n’aient atteint les températures désirées. Après 24
heures, régler les commandes sur les valeurs désirées,
un chiffre à la fois. Le réglage le plus chaud est 1, tandis
que 7 est le réglage le plus froid.
Réglage des commandes
Réglerles commandesavec précision à l’aide d’un
thermomètre domestique dont les températures se situent
entre -5oet 50 oF (-21oet 10 oC).
Placerle thermomètre entre lesemballages congelés
dansle compartimentCongélateur. Attendre 5 à 8 heures.
Si la température congélateur ne se situe pas entre 0oet
2 oF (-17oet -16 oC), régler la commande, un chiffre à la
fois.Vérifierdenouveauaprès5à8heures.
Placerle thermomètre dans unverre d’eau aumilieudu
compartimentréfrigérateur. Attendre5 à 8 heures. Si la
températureducompartimentRéfrigérateur ne se situe
pas entre 38oet 40 oF (3oet 4 oC), régler la commande,
unchiffre à la fois. Vérifierde nouveau après 5 à8 heures.
Contrôle de l’humidité extérieure
Le contrôle de l’humidité extérieure se situe sur le
séparateur central entre les sections réfrigérateur et
congélateur.
Dansdes conditions humides,le réfrigérateur produit de
la condensation autour des portes. Un appareil de
chauffagespécialdansle meuble du réfrigérateur
minimise la condensation.
L’humiditédépenddel’emplacementduréfrigérateur.
Réglezle contrôleà ON (Marche) si le réfrigérateur est
situé dans un endroit humide ou lorsqu’il y a des traces
d’humidité autour des portes. Réglez le contrôle à OFF
(Arrêt)si leréfrigérateur est situé dans un endroit moins
humide.Les réglagespeuvent être modifiés selon les
conditions.
De l’acier de qualité supérieure est utilisé dans la
fabricationde ce réfrigérateur. Cependant,une exposition
constanteà l’humidité peutprovoquer la corrosion du
meubledu réfrigérateur. Réglezle contrôle surla position
ON (Marche) dès que de la condensation se forme sur le
meubledu réfrigérateur.
