Read carefully before using the Capturs Model C device. Capturs cannot be held liable or
responsible for any consequences of the use of a Capturs Model C device particularly if an
accident or an emergency situation has not been detected by the device. Capturs Model C is
not a safety device and is not certified by any security or safety organization. You are using
Capturs Model C under your full responsibility and at your own risk. Live GPS tracking and
alerting only works under Sigfox® coverage Zone 1 (RC1). More information about the
Sigfox® coverage Zone 1 is available on the Sigfox® website, always ensure your region is
covered before use by checking the Sigfox® network coverage here
https://sigfox.com/coverage . Sigfox® message send\receive as well as GPS signal
acquisition strongly depend on the conditions of use and the environment. Capturs does not
guarantee the performance of signal reception. Capturs Model C is not linked with any
emergency services and does not replace a call to emergency services. You must always call
the appropriate emergency services in case of emergency. Some countries, states or regions
have laws related to location based tracking of people, animals and objects. It’s the sole
responsibility of the owner and user to abide by the law and rules in the area where the
Capturs Model C device is used. This device contains a Manganese dioxide lithium battery.
Batteries can explode or ignite and cause serious injury if exposed to abuse conditions. Be
sure to follow the safety warnings listed below: Do not connect the positive terminal and
negative terminal of the battery to each other with any metal object (such as wire). Do not
expose the battery to water or salt water, or allow the battery to get wet.
Capturs Model C is not for use by small children, and shall not be used by children at any
time. Remember to power off the device when not in use by removing the battery. Do not
place the battery in or near, on stoves or other high temperature locations. Do not place the
battery in direct sunlight, or use or store the battery inside cars in hot weather. Doing so may
cause the battery to generate heat, explode or ignite. Using the battery in this manner may
also result in a loss of performance and a shortened life expectancy. Do not disassemble
Capturs Model C or modify the battery. Do not charge unattended. Immediately discontinue
use of the battery if the battery emits an unusual smell, feels hot, changes color or shape, or
appears abnormal in any other way. Contact Capturs if this occurs. Do not place the device
in microwave ovens, high-pressure containers or on induction cookware. In the event the
battery leaks and the fluid gets into one’s eye, do not rub the eye. Rinse well with water and
immediately seek medical care. If left untreated, the battery fluid could cause damage to the
eye. Never charge Capturs Model C. Never let a child manipulate the device. Never attempt
to open the casing except for replacing the battery by strictly following the procedure
described in this document. Very strong magnetic fields (e.g. transformers) should always
be avoided as this may result in variations in the transmission. Failure to follow these
instructions may lead to malfunctions or damage to your Capturs Model C device. The use of
this device is not intended for people (including children) with limited physical, sensory or
mental abilities or lack of experience and/or lack of knowledge, unless they are supervised
by a person responsible for their safety or have been instructed on the use of the device.

Batteries are hazardous waste. For the correct disposal of batteries, appropriate containers
are provided at the premises of commercial battery dealers as well as local council waste
disposal facilities. If you want to dispose of your Capturs Model C device, follow the current
local provisions at the time. Information may be obtained from the local council waste
disposal. In order to locate your Capturs Model C, a PC with internet connection or a
smartphone (Android, iPhone) is required. Capturs Model C device can only be used after
successful activation through a web browser. In order to comply with aviation authorities,
switch off your Capturs Model C device before take-off by removing the battery as this may
cause electromagnetic interference to aircraft systems. Capturs Model C is a Sigfox® Ready
Class 0u device and needs Sigfox® network coverage to operate. This device complies with
CE Rules. Operation is subject to the following 2 conditions: 1. This device may not cause
harmful interference, and 2. This device must accept any interference received, including
interference that may cause undesired operation. Changes or modifications to this unit not
expressly approved by Capturs for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate this
equipment. Changing hardware and / or firmware of the Capturs Model C is strictly
prohibited and will void the warranty. This packaging contains small parts or plastic that
may cause suffocation. Keep out of the reach of children. Never immerse the Capturs Model
C in water.

Starting up and operation of Capturs
Model C
●If the battery is not already inserted in the tracker refer to the paragraph
“Install or change the battery”.
●Operating the tracker : go to https://connect.capturs-systems.com or
download the mobile application on https://capturs.com/app. Create an
account and go “My Devices” to integrate your Capturs Model C tracker.
Use the serial number (S/N) and the activation key (Key) written on the
sticker on the device to add your tracker on your account. Follow the
instructions on the FAQ to use the trackers, parameter alerts, download
reports on the online interface.
●Starting the tracker : If the battery is inserted the tracker will be
automatically started. If a tab is mounted on the tracker with the
mention “remove to start”, pull the tab gently.
●Before the final installation/attachment of the Capturs Model C tracker,
position it outdoors, with the label facing the sky, for 5 minutes. This will
allow the tracker to receive its first GPS position.
●Stopping the tracker : Remove the battery to stop the tracker. Refer to
the paragraph : “Install or change the battery”.
Important : GPS is a sensitive technology. Indoor GPS cannot work. When it
has not been used outside for more than 4 hours, the first acquisition will take
longer. You should do it without moving because when moving it will take even
longer. Before going out, you should stay still outside for 5 minutes.

Mount and fix the tracker
The beehives Model C have no mounting accessories but can be attached
with compatible accessories.
●For optimal use, place the Capturs Model C beehive tracker with the
antenna facing up. The antenna corresponds to the location on the
sticker.
●The correct position of the tracker is critical to its proper operation.
Place the tracer in the center of one edge of the frame. Place the frame
on one end in the hive (see picture).
●It is strongly discouraged to place the tracker in, or in close proximity to,
the temperature control frames of the hive where aluminum or other
metal foil is present.

Best practices for using Model C Capturs
The tracker can be used in an omnidirectional way and had good results
during several emission tests. Nevertheless, optimal performance will be
assured by properly positioning the tracker. Not respecting positioning advice
can cause signal loss and failure of some position messages.
Metallic environment:
A metallic environment can disturb Sigfox’s radio and lead to signal losses. Do
not use Capturs near a metallic object.
Fix GPS:
When it has not worked for a while, the GPS needs to know the satellite’s
position. It will automatically download data that it will keep in its memory to
have its position quickly at the next fix.
Also, the first fix can be longer, depending on environmental conditions. A
clear environment during the first fix will improve system performance.
GPS does not work inside, but Sigfox network is often operational. Information
on the movement without indication on the position can be exploited in the
software with total transparency for the user, improving his capabilities.
Model C Capturs position:
The correct position of the tracker is critical to its proper operation. For
optimum performance, place the Capturs Model C beehive tracker with the
antenna facing up. The antenna corresponds to the location on the sticker.
Place the tracker in the center of one edge of the frame. Place the frame on
one end in the hive.

Install or change the battery
Warning: only use 3 Volts Panasonic Industry CR123A Cylindrical‐type Lithium
Battery standard type or equivalent. These batteries are non rechargeable.
Carefully check that the battery is suitable for this use before inserting in
Capturs Model C.
To install or change the battery:
●Make sure you are in good condition to perform battery change (not
exceeding temperature usage range, no water on the case, the battery or
the operator's hands.
●Open the case by unclipping it.
●If already inserted remove the old battery and recycle in accordance
with the applicable recycling instructions in force in your country.
●Insert the new battery by strictly respecting polarity plus and minus (+/-)
as written on the battery and on the sticker. The "+” pole of the battery
must go to the “+” side of the battery holder.
⚠ Important. As the battery may be hot in the event of a fault, it should be
replaced using the following method by a qualified person:
●Remove the battery using a heat-insulated glove, taking care not to
contact the battery with any surface until it is isolated in a compartment
suitable for high temperatures.

●Place a new battery of equivalent capacity in the battery compartment in
the direction indicated on the label on the battery holder.
●Close the enclosure.
●⚠ Important. While enclosure is open :
○Never invert polarity (do not install the battery in the wrong
orientation).
○Do not touch the electronic circuit in the centre nor the antennas.
○Never attempt to charge the battery.
○Never connect the plus and minus pole of the battery or the
terminals of the printed circuit board. This would cause a short
circuit which can lead to overheating or explosion.
○Never operate changing of the battery out of the temperature
range given in this manual.
○Never immerse in water.
○Never drill, find or damage the battery.
○If you are in doubt about the use of the battery, consult the
manufacturer's data sheet.
○Never use a damaged battery.
○Replacing the battery with an incorrect type may cause an
explosion.
○Do not place in fire or crush, as this may cause an explosion.
Moving the antennas, damaging the electronic circuit in any way whatsoever,
trying to change the software or connect an external device to the embedded
electronic board, inserting moisture into the housing may cause irreparable
damage to the tracker and void the warranty.

propres risques. Le suivi et l'alerte GPS en direct ne fonctionnent que sous la couverture du

Certains pays, états ou régions ont des lois relatives à la localisation des personnes, des
animaux et des objets. Il est de la seule responsabilité du propriétaire et de l'utilisateur de
respecter la loi et les règles en vigueur dans la région où le dispositif Model C Capturs est
utilisé. Cet appareil contient une pile au lithium au dioxyde de manganèse. Les piles peuvent
exploser ou s'enflammer et causer des blessures graves si elles sont exposées à des
conditions d'utilisation abusives. Veillez à respecter les avertissements de sécurité
énumérés ci-dessous : Ne connectez pas la borne positive et la borne négative de la pile
entre elles avec un objet métallique (tel qu'un fil). N'exposez pas la pile à l'eau ou à l'eau
salée, et ne la laissez pas se mouiller.
Le Model C Capturs n'est pas destiné à être utilisé par des enfants en bas âge et ne doit être
utilisé par des enfants à aucun moment. N'oubliez pas d'éteindre l'appareil lorsqu'il n'est pas
utilisé en retirant la pile. Ne placez pas la pile dans ou à proximité des poêles ou d'autres
endroits à haute température. Ne placez pas la pile en plein soleil, et n'utilisez pas ou ne
stockez pas la pile à l'intérieur des voitures par temps chaud. La pile pourrait alors générer
de la chaleur, exploser ou s'enflammer. L'utilisation de la pile de cette manière peut
également entraîner une perte de performance et une réduction de l'espérance de vie. Ne
démontez pas le Model C Capturs et ne modifiez pas la pile. Ne le rechargez pas sans
surveillance. Cessez immédiatement d'utiliser la pile si elle dégage une odeur inhabituelle, si
elle est chaude au toucher, si elle change de couleur ou de forme, ou si elle semble anormale
de toute autre manière. Contactez Capturs si cela se produit. Ne placez pas l'appareil dans
un four à micro-ondes, un récipient à haute pression ou sur une batterie de cuisine à
induction. Si la pile fuit et que le liquide pénètre dans l'œil, ne frottez pas l'œil. Rincez bien à
l'eau et consultez immédiatement un médecin. Si il n'est pas traité, le liquide de la pile peut
causer des lésions oculaires. Ne jamais charger le Model C Capturs. Ne jamais laisser un
enfant manipuler l'appareil. N'essayez jamais d'ouvrir le boîtier, sauf pour remplacer la pile en

suivant strictement la procédure décrite dans ce document. Les champs magnétiques très
forts (par exemple les transformateurs) doivent toujours être évités, car ils peuvent entraîner
des variations de la transmission. Le non-respect de ces instructions peut entraîner des
dysfonctionnements ou des dommages à votre appareil Model C Capturs. L'utilisation de cet
appareil n'est pas destinée aux personnes (y compris les enfants) dont les capacités
physiques, sensorielles ou mentales sont limitées ou qui manquent d'expérience et/ou de
connaissances, sauf si elles sont supervisées par une personne responsable de leur sécurité
ou si elles ont reçu des instructions sur l'utilisation de l'appareil.
Les piles sont des déchets dangereux. Pour l'élimination correcte des piles, des conteneurs
appropriés sont mis à disposition dans les locaux des revendeurs de piles ainsi que dans les
installations d'élimination des déchets des collectivités locales. Si vous souhaitez vous
débarrasser de votre appareil Model C Capturs, suivez les dispositions locales en vigueur à
ce moment-là. Vous pouvez obtenir des informations auprès des services municipaux
d'élimination des déchets. Pour localiser votre Model C Capturs, vous devez disposer d'un
ordinateur avec une connexion Internet ou d'un smartphone (Android, IOS). L'appareil Model
C Capturs ne peut être utilisé qu'après une activation réussie par un navigateur web. Afin de
respecter les exigences des autorités de l'aviation, éteignez votre appareil Model C Capturs
avant le décollage en retirant la pile, car cela peut provoquer des interférences
électromagnétiques avec les systèmes de l'avion. Le Model C Capturs est un appareil
Sigfox® Ready Classe 0u et a besoin de la couverture réseau Sigfox® pour fonctionner. Cet
appareil est conforme aux règles de la CE. Son fonctionnement est soumis aux 2 conditions
