Caribbean Blinds Outdoor Living Pod Troubleshooting guide

TROUBLESHOOTING
My roof / screen(s) doesn’t move when I press the button on
my remote control?
• Check you are on the correct channel on the remote control
that corresponds with the roof or screen that you are trying
to operate.
• Check the batteries (AAA) in the remote control. If the LED
does not light up when you press a command button, this
indicates the batteries need replacing. By simply
removing the cap from the rear of the remote control casing,
the batteries can be accessed and replaced.
• Check the operating range. Try standing closer to your
Outdoor Living Pod™ to shorten the distance the signal
needs to travel.
• Check the electrical connection. The fuse in the plug or spur
your Outdoor Living Pod™ is wired into may need replacing
or there could be an issue with the power supply source.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE PURCHASE OF YOUR OUTDOOR LIVING POD™
USE
• Ensure there are no foreign objects or people in the way of
the roof louvers and/or screens when operating these items.
• Do not climb on or hang any items off your Outdoor Living
Pod™.
• If anyone is working within the immediate vicinity of your

• If extreme weather conditions are expected rotate the roof
louvers to 90 degrees and retract any side screens.
Your Outdoor Living Pod™ is designed for use as a sun, wind,
rain & light snow protection product. Optional screens are
designed for protection from the sun, light rain and breezes
(Beaufort 6, 30mph – large branches in motion, whistling heard
in overhead wires, umbrella use becomes difcult).

adjacent.

MAINTENANCE
Your Outdoor Living Pod™ has been manufactured using the most advanced materials, treated with the latest self clean effect coatings,
however, to ensure your Outdoor Living Pod™ keeps functioning correctly and looking like new, it should be regularly cleaned (at least twice
a year).
DO NOT USE pressure washers or any abrasive cleaners, detergents, stiff bristle brushes or cloths, or corrosive oils or sprays as these can
damage the hardware and/or fabric. Always ensure the power supply to your Outdoor Living Pod™ is isolated before cleaning.
Structure
Framework
Simply hose down the framework and any stubborn marks or stains can be cleaned off with a sponge, warm water and a mild soapy
solution. Acidic substances including birds mess & tree sap, must be cleaned off immediately to avoid it damaging the powdercoating. Be
careful not to spray water directly at the motor head as this could damage it (cause water ingress) and prevent your Outdoor Living Pod™
from functioning correctly.
Guttering
Dirt and debris (including leaves) should be cleaned from the guttering around the internal perimeter of the framework to ensure water can
still effectively evacuate.
Joints
The pins which the roof louvers rotate on (ie in each end of the louvers) should be sprayed with a non-corrosive silicone spray to ensure
they continue to rotate smoothly.
Screens
Material
Simply hose down the material and any stubborn marks or stains can be cleaned off with a sponge, warm water and a mild soapy solution.
Acidic substances including birds mess & tree sap, must be cleaned off immediately to avoid it damaging the coating on the fabric. Always
allow the fabric to dry completely before retracting the screen away.
Guides
The pvc inner section to the guides (where the fabric runs & is locked within) should be sprayed with a non-corrosive silicone spray to
ensure the screen(s) continue to lower and raise smoothly.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Frost
When temperatures are sub zero, do not operate your Outdoor Living Pod™, as this can cause damage to the seals that lock the roof
louvers together, subsequently affecting the water tightness of the roof.
Water Tightness (roof)
In extreme weather conditions such as a persistent torrential downpour it is possible the guttering may not be able to drain the water quick
enough and some water may splash over the guttering. Ensure the rain gutters are cleaned regularly of dirt and leaves to provide an
effective water drainage.
Condensation may form on the underside of the roof louvers with water droplets falling onto the terrace beneath. Due to the aluminium
construction, this cannot be prevented and therefore is considered a natural characteristic.
Screen Fabric Rippling
Despite the most advanced manufacturing techniques, rippling and puckering of the material will occur around the seams (where the fabric
is joined) and at the edges (where the fabric is locked in the side channels) due to the double thickness of material on these parts ‘v’ the
single thickness of the main panel of fabric. This is a natural characteristic that cannot be avoided however will not affect the function or
performance of your screen(s). To minimise this affect do not use your screen(s) in rain or windy conditions and if the fabric is rolled away
wet, lower your screen(s) at the next available opportunity so it can dry off.
Thermal Overload Protection
In extreme heat or constant operation of the motors a built in thermal overload protection prevents use of your Outdoor Living Pod™ for
approximately 15 minutes, allowing the motors to cool down and then normal operation can be resumed.
