FOREWORD
DearClient,CarinciGroupSpAthanksyouforchoosingtheCARINCIMAGNUMBOILER,state-of-the-art
technology in biomass heating.
This Manual provides all the information and practical recommendations for the correct installation, use
and maintenance of the product in compliance with the regulations in force.
PRELIMINARY WARNINGS
1. All local regulations, including those referring to national and European regulations, must be re-
spected when installing the appliance;
2. Do not use the appliance as an incinerator or in any way other than for its intended purposes;
3. Do not use fuels other than the ones recommended;
4. Do not use liquid fuels;
5. The CARINCI MAGNUM Boiler should only be installed in purposely set-up techni-
cal premises and not in a household.
6. Whenoperating,theboilerandparticularlyitsexternalsurfacesreach veryhightemperatures;han-
dle with care when touching to avoid scalding;
7. Do not perform any unauthorized modification on the appliance;
8. Only use original spare parts as recommended by the manufacturer;
9. In the event the flue catches fire, switch off the electronic controlling unit, open the boiler door and
remove the pellet embers from the burner;
10. If maintenance and repairs are required, make sure the machine is disconnected from any current
source.

1.2 CLEANING THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER
The base of the CARINCI MAGNUM Boiler's combustion chamber is made entirely out of blast furnace fire bricks with
a high-performance refractoriness of 1620 °C. They are positioned vertically forming a uniform base and walls that
are 60 mm thick.

TYPICAL USES: civil uses, general purposes, construction of household ovens, fireplaces, heaters, pizza ovens.

2.0 DESCRIPTION OF THE AUTOMATIC PELLET KIT
The Automatic Kit is made up of a fuel tank, feed motor, conveyor auger, burner and control unit.
2.1 PELLET LOADING TANK
The tank can contain up to maximum 130 Kg of fuel; load using the designated hermetically-sealed door located on
the top part of the tank.
N.B. When operation, the tank door MUST be kept closed.

2.2 GEARMOTOR WITH INTEGRATED FREQUENCY INVERTER
The Automatic Pellet Kit is made up of a reliable gearmotor unit and a
delta-connected,0.25kW,230Vthree-phaseelectricpowerinductionmo-
tor, cooled by an internal fan. The group is made up of two different-sized
speedreducers,PAM30andPAM50,withapermanentlubricationsystem
thus guaranteeing reliability over time.
2.3 SIEMENS G110 INVERTER
The SINAMICS G110 frequency inverters are used to control the AC three-phase motors with power from 120 W to
3.0 kW for single-phase feed in.
The inverters are equipped with a microprocessor and used state-of-the-art
IGBT (Insulated Gate BipoIar Transistor) technology. This makes them reli-
able and versatile. Thanks to a special pulse-amplitude modulation method
with scalable frequency of the impulses, it is possible to make the motor
operate silently. Excellent protection of the inverter and the motor is guar-
anteed by the integrated protection features.
The SINAMICS G110, set to standard factory settings, is suitable for a
range of simple applications to control the V/f motor.

2.4 STAINLESS-STEEL AUGER
Fuel is carried via a double auger. In between the two augers, there is a 17 cm long fuel flashback arrestor to stop the
reverse flow of the flame.
IMPORTANT: make sure no objects which could break or irreparably damage the mechanism fall
into the tank (e.g. stones, screws, nails, etc.)
2.5 BURNER
The burner is made up of an iron-cast crucible divided into two parts, an upper part and a lower part. The upper part
is where the combustion takes place; the lower part is where the fuel is prepared for combustion.

2.6 BURNER MAINTENANCE
It is important to check on a weekly basis that the holes of the burner are free
from ash or fuel residue in order to ensure the best combustion of the pellets.
Even more important is to check that there are no deposits in the lower part of
the crucible; this inspection must be carried out frequently every morning. (see
picture).
2.7 BURNER CLEANING
For correct functioning of the generator, it is essential to clean the burner
every day before starting up the machine by following this procedure:
a) Check that the electronic control unit is SWITCHED OFF;
b) Check that there is no burning fuel inside the burner;
c) Remove deposits created by the pellets in the burner;
d) Remove all residue from inside the crucible;
e) Remove ash from the burner and combustion chamber with a small shovel or appropriate suction device .
2.8 PLATE TO COVER THE BURNER
In the event the MAGNUM boiler is used with wood instead of the other recommended fuels, it is compulsory to remove
all pellets, embers and ash from inside the crucible. After completing this procedure, the plate can be positioned. The
steel plate is located inside the combustion chamber and is connected to the heat exchangers; disconnect the plate,
then turn it over and place it inside the crucible. Once this action has been performed, press 'WOOD' on the electronic
control unit. In absence of the recommended fuel, the MAGNUM Boiler can also be used with wood,
but only for short periods of time until the fuel which is generally used is reintroduced.
before carrying out any operation in the combustion chamber and burner, ensure that the ON/OFF
switch is positioned on OFF (0) and that all the parts in steel and cast iron are cold.
3.0 BOILER LOCATION ON THE PREMISES
It is absolutely necessary that the boiler be moved and unpacked with the appropriate means and the location in which
it is to be installed is suitable.
3.1 BOILER HANDLING
When moving and unpacking the boiler, it is essential to:
a) Always keep in an upright position;
b) Never place in a horizontal position;
3.2 INSPECTION OF BEARING PLATE
a) Inspect the capacity of the floor;
b) In the event the floor is not suitable to carry the weight of the boiler, a cement base must be built to redistribute the
weight.
3.3 INSPECTION OF THE WALLS ADJACENT TO THE BOILER
a) It is advisable to never install the CARINCI Boiler by placing it against a wall; always leave 50 cm between
the boiler and the walls;
b) Never install the CARINCI Boiler against flammable walls;
c) In the event installation is required next to flammable walls (e.g. wood or similar), it is absolutely necessary to isolate
the walls with designated insulation materials such as mineral wool, ceramic fibre wool, mineral fibre wool, etc.;
d) Leave a space measuring at least 60 cm to facilitate any required maintenance.

4.0 FLUE (in compliance with Regulation UNI cig 7129/92)
The flue is an important component of a heating system with a wood boiler. Its function is not only to disperse and evac-
uate fumes, but also, thanks to an excellent draft, to ensure the Boiler operates correctly given its natural draft function.
4.1 FUNCTIONS OF FLUE
The functions of the flue are:
a) to function as a fumes exhaust system;
b) to ensure the boiler works properly thanks to an excellent draft.
4.2 FEATURES OF FLUE
The flue must have the following features:
a) be made exclusively in a double wall insulated stainless steel;
b) have a diameter measuring no less than 150mm;
c) be partially reduced without compromising the draft that must be minimum 12 + 2 Pa;

d) must have smooth walls;
e) must have a uniform internal section, preferably circular;
f) must be at least 4 meters high;
g) must be at least 50 cm higher than the peak of the roof;
h) If required, an incline is allowed (but no higher than 45°); for variations of sections or parts, the functioning of the
fumes evacuation system must be inspected with a suitable fluid-dynamic calculating method (UNI 9615);
i) must have a condensate and solid material drain and collection point;
j) must have a double wall or single wall with insulation and cavity wall;
k) any bends connecting to the flue must have inspection points that
allow the system to be checked and maintained;
l) feature a wind-proof chimney at the top end
m) The point between the flue and walled structure must be hermetically-sealed (see drawing) with a material which is
suitable for high temperatures and thermal expansion;
n) If the flue is more than approximately 7 meters high and has a draft of more than 12 + 2 Pa, it is necessary to install a
specific draft adapter.
4.3 CHIMNEY STACK
It is necessary to install a chimney stack at the top of the flue to facilitate the dispersion of fumes.
The chimney stack must comply with the following requirements:
a) have the same diameter of the flue;
b) be well-isolated;
c) be located in the highest point;
d) guarantee the correct dispersion of fumes in any weather conditions (strong wind, rain, etc.);
e) be easy to remove to facilitate cleaning.
Attention: Use of metal and/or flexible pipes is strictly forbidden.

INSTALLATION WARNINGS
5.1. EXPANSION TANK (if open-vented)
If installed open-vented, the CARINCI MAGNUM Boiler must have a capacity equal to three times the water expansion
volume. Expansion percentage at 90 °C = 3/3.5%.
5.2 MANUAL RESET THERMOSTAT
The manual reset thermostat (located at the back of the boiler) is to be used
in the event the boiler reaches excessive temperatures (> 95 °C) and imme-
diately interrupts all boiler activity. Reactivate the thermostat by unscrewing
the cap and pressing the button. Reactivate the thermostat only after carefully
inspecting the boiler and, if applicable, verifying the problem behind the
blockage.
5.3 THERMAL DISCHARGE VALVE
The thermal discharge valve dissipates excess heat (> 97 °C), swiftly lowering the temperature in the boiler.
5.4 DOUBLE SAFETY VALVE
The double safety valve releases excess pressure (> 3 bar), thus preventing the boiler from exceeding maximum operat-
ing pressure.
5.5 FILLING UNIT
Load the boiler exclusively via an automatic filling unit with a pressure gauge and a non-return valve set at a pressure
of approx. 1.5 bar. Connect this system to the water supply network to ensure water is present at all times.
5.6 SANITARY HEAT EXCHANGER (with an automatic heat sink function)
Insidethe boiler,there is acopperexchanger immersed inthe primary heatingwaterused to producehot sanitary water.This
exchanger can also function as an excess heat sink (> 97 °C) when using thermal discharge valve (optional), which quickly
lowers the temperature in the boiler. In the presence of hard water, we recommend installing an anti-limescale product. It
is necessary to install two T's with removable caps at the input and output points of the coil in the event of chemical wash-
down.
N.B. It is compulsory to install a mixer valve near the outlet of the sanitary hot water to prevent
water from coming out of the taps too hot and burning the user(s).
5.7 PROCESS CONTROL AND SHUT-OFF VALVE
Install a ball valve on the chimney stack's sanitary cold water input pipe. This valve:
1. regulates the rate of water flow to the sanitary exchanger;
2. closes the Boiler's sanitary circuit.
N.B.: It is strictly forbidden to install a shut-off valve on the boiler's sanitary hot water output pipe.
5.8 CHECK VALVE
Never install a check valve at the input point of the sanitary cold water.
Install a spring check valve on the system outlet if the boiler is located in a position which is lower than the radiators in order
to prevent the heat-carrying fluid from circulating towards the radiators.
5.9 FILLING THE BOILER UNIT
Fill the boiler using the filling unit or, if open-vented, using the expansion tank.
ATTENTION: the open expansion tank should be installed maximum 12 meters above the boiler.
Maximum operational pressure must not exceed 1.2 ate.
5.10 SUCTION
If the boiler is installed on the premises where there is an extractor fan, pay attention when activating the latter as it may
absorb all the oxygen inside the boiler, causing the boiler to break down, even in the presence of air scoop. There-
fore, it is advisable also to open the window.
