Do not use the appliance if it is damaged in any way. At the rst sign of defects or unusual noises or smells, turn o
the appliance and unplug it. In such cases contact an Authorized Service Center.
Only use the appliance if the power cord is intact. If the supplied cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a hazard. Danger of electric shocks.
Do not leave the power cord near hot surfaces, sharp edges or other sharp objects.When disconnecting the
appliance, pull on the plug, not the cord; otherwise it may be damaged.
Only connect the appliance to power outlets complying with the requirements of law. Make sure that the power
supply voltage matches the rating shown on the data plate on the bottom of the appliance.
To avoid the risk of re, set the appliance on a at, heat-resistant surface. Only use and store the appliance indoors.
Do not let the power cord dangle! Position the cord so there is no risk of tripping.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.The packaging elements (plastic bags,
etc.) must not be left within reach of children.
Always close the lever when not in use. Never open the lever while the appliance is operating. Always use the
appliance with the drip tray and grill in place.

Use only Cataly System Capsules.
Never place your hands inside the capsule compartment. Danger of injury! Never remove parts of the appliance.
Do not insert objects into the openings. This could cause electric shocks! Any operation that is not described in this
instruction manual should only be performed by an Authorized Service Center!
WARNING: The lling aperture must not be opened during use.
Clean the appliance carefully and regularly. If it is not cleaned, the build-up that forms may be hazardous to your
health. Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool before cleaning.
Descale the appliance regularly, following the instructions provided. If you do not, the appliance may be damaged
and may become harmful to your health.
Make sure the electrical elements, plug and cord are dry.
Never submerge the appliance in water. Protect the appliance from sprays and drips. Water and electricity together
constitute a risk of electrocution.
If you do not expect to use the appliance for a long period of time (leaving on vacation, etc.), unplug it.

This is a safety warning symbol used to call your attention to possible risks of personal injury.
NOTE
This symbol is used to highlight some actions that will optimize use of the appliance.

Instructions for use and disposal
The appliance has been manufactured using high quality materials that can be reused or recycled. Dispose of the
appliance in a suitable waste collection center.
This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:
– sta kitchen areas in shops, oces and other working environments;
– farm houses;
– by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
– bed and breakfast type environments.
When you decide to dispose of the appliance, unplug it from the power outlet. Then cut o the power cord as close
to the body of the appliance as possible.
Directions for correct disposal of the product according to European Directive 2002/96/EC and Italian Legislative Decree no.
151 of 25 July 2005. At the end of its useful life, the product should not be disposed of with unsorted household waste.
It should be taken to a suitable selective waste collection center set up by the local authorities or returned to a retailer
who provides this service. Separate collection of an electric household appliance avoids a possible negative impact on the
environment and health arising from improper disposal and enables the materials it is made of to be recovered so as to
achieve signicant savings of energy and resources.The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol applied on the product highlights
the need to dispose of electric appliances separately. Improper disposal of the product by the user shall be subject to specic
administrative sanctions as provided for under current regulations.The packaging is made from recyclable materials. Contact
the competent authorities for information regarding local legislation.

Priming machine before rst use
Fit capsule drawer inside the drip tray and slide it into the machine.
Fill water tank with ltered/bottled water. The beverage buttons and 'No Water' indicator
light will blink simultaneously.
Press any beverage button. Wait for machine to complete the priming
cycle and ll with water. The ‘No Water’ indicator light will switch o.
Note: Repeat this step if the ‘No Water’ indicator light continues to
blink.
Plug power cord into the socket located on the bottom of the machine.
Place an ample container under the beverage
dispensing spout.
If required, empty water from the used capsule drawer and cup.
Your machine is now ready for use.

Raise the lever to open the capsule compartment. Insert the capsule, pressing it gently into place.
Close the lever rmly.
Preparing your beverage
Fill the water tank with ltered/bottled water. Turn the appliance on. The beverage buttons will blink simultaneously to indicate that the
machine is warming up. When the buttons remain steadily lit, the
machine is ready for use.
Place a cup or mug under the beverage dispensing spout.

CAUTION: Do not use the brewed coee/tea button with an espresso capsule. Gentle pressure through the brewed coee/tea
option causes an intermittent beverage ow and reduces the quality of espresso.

Press your desired beverage button. Brewing will begin in
approximately 3 seconds and will last 1-3 minutes depending on
your beverage choice. The selected button will light up.
Once the machine has stopped and beeped, carefully remove your
hot cup.
NOTE:
Cup and liquid may be quite hot. Handle with care.

When switching from one beverage to another, we suggest rinsing the machine by pressing a beverage button
without inserting a capsule.
Raise the lever to eject the used capsule into the used capsule drawer. Close the lever.

When the 'Descale' indicator light blinks and the machine beeps
3 times, it is advisable to carry out a descaling cycle. Refer to page 15
for descaling instructions.
Indicator light guidelines
When the ‘No Water’ indicator light blinks and the machine beeps 3
times followed by a single intermittent beep, the water tank is empty.
Fill the tank with ltered/bottled water.
Press any beverage button. Wait for the machine to complete the
priming cycle and ll with water. When drink buttons turn on and
remain steadily lit, the appliance is ready to use.

INTERRUPTED OPERATION INDICATOR
If the lever is raised while a beverage is being dispensed—
Danger of scalding! May cause splashes of hot water.
The 'Multifunction' indicator light will blink and beep and the
machine will immediately stop dispensing.
Close the lever. Press any beverage button to reset the alarm indicator light.
Insert new capsule and press your desired beverage button to brew
a new cup.

The Desto features an energy saving function (normally activated) which automatically reduces energy consumption by approximately 98%
one hour after last use (buttons blink white slowly). To restore normal operating conditions press any button or raise the lever. Appliance
will start warming up. When all buttons turn on and remain steadily lit, appliance is read for use.

4Resetting to factory standards
Turn machine o. Raise the lever to open the capsule compartment. Press and hold the espresso button while simultaneously switching
the machine on.
Continue to hold the espresso button and quickly close and open the
lever. The machine will beep 5 times.
Release the espresso button. After a few seconds, the beverage
buttons and 'Multifunction' indicator light will blink.
Close the lever.
Place a cup on the drip tray. Press the espresso button once. Wait
approximately 2 minutes. The cycle is complete when the 3 buttons are
steadily lit. Repeat this step only if alarm light continues to blink.

Remove the drip tray and used capsule drawer.
Remove the grill. Empty the drip tray and rinse it with fresh water.
Lift the used capsule drawer, empty and rinse.
Remove the water tank. Empty and rinse.
NOTE: The water tank is NOT dishwasher safe.

Use a soft, dampened cloth and a neutral detergent to
clean the surfaces of the machine. Do not use jets of
water to clean the appliance.
The plastic parts of the machine are not
dishwasher safe.

For the best possible results when using espresso cups, raise the drip
tray, expand the bottom part and x it in place by turning it clockwise.
Reposition the drip tray to use espresso cups.
The machine is initially set for the use of large cups. To t travel
mugs, remove drip tray completely.

Mineral content present in most water sources causes calcium deposits or scale to build up in your machine. The Desto features an
advanced program that detects when it needs to be descaled. Refer to section 3 (p.10) for 'Descale' indicator guidelines.
Carefully read the directions for use on the package of the descaling agent.
Avoid contact with eyes, skin and machine surfaces.
Do not use vinegar: it could damage your appliance!
During descaling, do not turn the machine o.
Turn the machine o.
Remove and empty the water tank.
Empty and rinse out the used capsule drawer and drip tray.
Prepare the descaling solution following the CBTL™ descaler
directions. Pour a liter of solution into the tank.
Descaling the machine
CBTL™ recommends using the CBTL™ Descaler to descale your machine.

8Descaling the machine
The machine delivers descaling solution at intervals of approximately
4 minutes. During this cycle, the 'Descale' and 'Multifunctional'
indicator lights blink alternately. Buttons must not be pressed.
Place a container under the beverage dispensing spout.
Press and hold the espresso and long espresso buttons while
simultaneously switching the machine on. Release espresso and long
espresso buttons.
Make sure the lever is lowered and that there is no capsule inside the
capsule compartment.
The long espresso, 'Descale' and 'Multifunctional' indicator lights
will blink alternately. Press the long espresso button to start the
descale cycle.
If the container lls, empty it.

Carefully empty & rinse the water tank and ll it with ltered/bottled water. Empty and rinse the used capsule drawer and drip tray.
When the rinse cycle is complete, the machine will beep and all
beverage buttons will blink simultaneously; the machine is warming.
When the buttons remain steadily lit, the appliance is ready for use.
9Descaling the machine
Water will rinse through the machine. During this cycle the 'Descale'
and 'Multifunctional' indicator lights blink alternately.
Empty and rinse the used capsule container and drip tray and put
them back in place. Place cup on drip tray.
’Multifunctional’ and ‘Descale’ indicator lights will blink alternately.
Press the long espresso button to start the prime/rinse cycle.
At the end of the descale cycle, the long espresso button will light
up and the machine will beep once and the ‘Multifunctional’ and
‘Descale’ indicator lights will blink alternately.
Carefully rinse the water tank and ll it with ltered/bottled water.

No beverage is brewed
when beverage buttons are pressed.
The water tank is empty (the 'No Water' indicator light is on and red).

Fill the tank with ltered/bottled water.
Press the desired beverage button.
The machine will resume brewing.
The beverage is not hot enough. Cold cups / mugs. Scale build-up in machine.

Preheat the cup.
If doesn't solve, descale the machine.
The lever cannot be lowered. The used capsule drawer is full. Capsule stuck inside the machine.

Empty the used capsule drawer.
Remove the used capsule.
Indicator light is lit steadily in RED. Heating problems.

Turn o the machine, then turn it back on. If the problem persists, take the machine
to an Authorized Service Center.
Coee is dispensing very slowly and is
of poor quality.
Brewed Coee/Tea button was used with an espresso capsule.

Lift lever to eject capsule into used capsule drawer, insert new espresso capsule,
and use Espresso or Long Espresso/Tea Latte button.
Beyond the recommended cleaning and maintenance procedures, the CBTL™ Machine is not user serviceable. For additional options,

CBTL™ warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship under normal home use for 1 year from
the date of purchase.The warranty period commences on the date of purchase and CBTL™ requires presentation of the
original receipt to ascertain this date.
During the warranty period, CBTL™ will either repair or replace, at its option, any defective product at no charge to the
owner provided that you return your product, at your sole cost and expense, in accordance with the CBTL™ Limited
Warranty Claims Process. Unless otherwise required under applicable law, replacement products will be warranted only
for the unexpired portion of the original warranty.
This limited warranty does not apply to cosmetic damage or any defect resulting from accident, negligence, misuse,
failure to follow the product instructions, calcium deposits, improper or inadequate maintenance or repair by anyone
other than CBTL™ authorized services, normal wear and tear, use for commercial purposes, use on current or voltage
other than as marked on the product, product alteration, re, lightning, ood or other external causes.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, this limited warranty does not cover consequential or incidental damages
such as property damage.
This limited warranty is only valid in the country of purchase.
The terms of this limited warranty do not exclude, restrict or modify mandatory statutory rights, if any, applicable to
the sale of this product in your country of purchase.
