Upholstery Care
It is a known fact that upholstery will deteriorate over time. A good care routine will help
you get the best out of your chair for the longest period.
Here are our tips to help safeguard against premature ageing:
•Avoid storing your chair in extreme cold temperatures as excessive coldness will cause
cracking.
•Avoid storing or using your chair in or near extreme heat. The heat from heaters,
electrical appliances or direct sunlight can cause the fabric to stretch and pucker, and
eventually start to peel.
•If you are using sharp objects during your practice, such as needles, make sure you have
a protective layer over the table. Laying a towel or blanket over your chair can help
prevent any scratching or puncturing of the upholstery.
•As the oils found naturally on our skin can upholstery to breakdown, it is important that
you clean your upholstery fabric every day using a mild detergent (avoiding anti bacs
and citrus). This will help to protect against oil stains and dirtiness which will cause
cracking and permanent stains over time. Common practise is to mix a little detergent
with warm water in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture onto the table and gently wipe
over with a soft cloth. Rinse and pat dry. Take care to include face cradle cushions,
carry handles and inside the breathe hole as well as the main couch surface.
CAUTION:
•Due to the drying nature of alcohol, wiping upholstery with alcohol can dry out the vinyl
and cause it to crack. Aromatherapy oils and natural body oils can also be very
aggressive in nature and attack the upholstery.
