PRECIDRIVE Moon Phase Quartz Chronographs
Congratulations
We congratulate you on choosing a CERTINA®chronograph. Meticulously designed, using only high-quality materials and components, your chronograph is
protected against shock loads, variations in temperature, water, dust and also benefits from the DS concept.
This manual applies to CERTINA®quartz chronographs equipped with the PRECIDRIVE movement G10.962 BH PRD. For the settings and operation of your
PRECIDRIVE chronograph, please refer to the instructions below.
Your PRECIDRIVE chronograph allows you to time events lasting up to 12 hours, and offers you the following functions:
– Standard chronograph START–STOP function
– ADD function (partial times)
– SPLIT function (intermediate times)
To ensure the operating precision of your chronograph for many years to come, we advise you to pay careful attention to the advice given in this manual.
The DS (Double Security) concept is characterised by:
– its scratch and impact resistance,
– its tough sapphire crystal,
– a gasket inside the crown and a gasket around the winding stem guaranteeing the water resistance of the watch even when the crown is pulled out,
– a reinforced case back.
Settings
Models with screw-down crown
To ensure even better water resistance, some models are fitted with a screw-down crown. Before setting the time or date, you must first unscrew the crown
to position IB, before pulling it out to position II or III.
Important: After each operation, you must always screw the crown back down to ensure that your watch remains water-resistant. You are
advised not to operate the crown (8) underwater.
Setting the time
Pull the crown out to position III; the seconds hand will stop and the chronograph seconds hand will complete a rotation of the dial (entering setting mode).
Turn the crown forwards or backwards to the desired time, and then push it back into the rest position I. When the hour hand passes the 12 o'clock position,
you can see whether it is indicating midnight (the date will change) or midday (the date will not change).
Advice for synchronising your watch
To synchronise the small seconds hand with an official time signal (radio/TV/Internet), pull the crown out to position III; the seconds hand will stop. At the
tone, push the crown back into the rest position I.
Rapid date correction
Pull the crown out to position II. The chronograph seconds hand will complete a rotation of the dial (entering setting mode). Turn the crown clockwise or
anticlockwise until the desired date is displayed.
Tachymeter (according to model)
The tachymeter allows you to measure the average speed of a moving object. Start timing by pressing pusher (A), and then stop by pressing pusher (B) once
a distance of 1 km has been reached. The chronograph seconds hand will be pointing to a number on the tachymeter scale, indicating the speed in km/h.
Resetting the chronograph counters
If necessary, the chronograph counters must be reset before starting timing. Proceed as follows: pull
the crown out to position II; the chronograph seconds hand will complete a rotation of the dial (entering
setting mode). Every time pusher (A) is pressed, a different hand will be activated, and it can be returned
to its start point by repeatedly pressing pusher (B). When pusher (B) is held down, the hand rotation speed
will increase.
