LIGHTING THE BOILER
1) Switch on the electricity.
2) Turn the lever on the gas service tap to the left (19 - fig.
2).
3) Set the selector switch to required position. To the left,
hot water only or to the right for heating’and hot water
(28 -fig. 1).
4) Press the ignitor button (23 -fig. 1)
- The fan will change to high speed to purge the com-
bustion chamber.
- After approximately : 5 seconds the spark generator
creates a continuous spark to light the pilot.
- When the pilot is alight, viewed through the sight
glass, wait a further 15 seconds before slowly relea-
sing the button.
- If the pilot goes out repeat above.
5) In winter. check ihai the flow isolating valve (17 - fig. 2)
is wide open.
TO TURN OFF THE CENTRAL HEATING (summer)
Set the selector sv!tch (28 - fig. 1) to the left. The boiler
will only Operate on a demand for hot water. Your installer
may have fitted a clock Into the system which will turn the
heating off aufcmaticatty.
TO TURN OFF THE BOILER
Set the selector switch to the centre Position OFF. Turn off
the 9as by turning the lever on the gas service tap to the
right.
HOW YOUR BOILER WORKS
PRODUCTION OF HOT WATER
This boiler is designed to give hot water at different tem-
peratures and is fitted with a temperature selector (26 -
fig. 1). To obtain the hottest Water turn the selector knob
fully in the + direction. In this position the burner may cycle
high to low. this is normal. Larger amOUntS of water can
be obtained by turning the knob towards the-sign.
HEATING
The boiler is automatically self adjusting when on central
heating. It is normal for the boiler to stay alight all the time
but with the flame height reduced.
The g&will be at high Rame when the maximum output is
required, when it is cold or on start UP.

INSTALLATION WITHOUT A ROOM THERMOSTAT
Set the boiler thermostat (29 - fig. 1) as required depen-
ding on the required internal temperature. To increase the
heat turn to +. to reduce the heat turn to -. The temperatu-
re gauge (24 - fig. 1) shows the temperature of the water
going to the radiators.
INSTALLATION WITH A ROOM THERMOSTAT
- 3et the control on the room thermostat to the desired
temperature which will automatically control the firing of
the boiler to give the chosen room temperature.
- During cold weather, the boiler thermostat (29 - fig. 1)
should be left on maximum, turned to position +.
- In mild weather it is recommended that the thermostat is
placed in an intermediate position.
TO ISOlATE THE HEATlNG CIRCUIT DURINGTHE SUMMER
In some installations it is possible, after the boiler has
been operating continuously for a period providing hot
water to get gravity circulation in the heating pipes. It will
be noticed that the pipes are getting hot and eventually
the first radiator will heat up. To avoid this, isolate as fol-
lows.
- The heating flow connection is fitted with an isolating
valve (17 - fig. 2) to prevent this circulation.
- When switching to ‘Summer’ also close the valve on the
heating flow.
- Do not forget to open the valve at the start of the heating
season when the selector switch is set to “Winter”.
PRESSURE GAUGE (30 -fig. 1)
This shows the water pressure in the central heating pipe-
work when cold it should read not less than 1 bar. This wilt
increase as the system heats up. A pressure relief valve
will operate at 3 bar. Your instalier will be able IO advise
you how to re-pressurise the system if necessary.
