3.Safety
3.1 Specified conditionsof use
The machineissuitablefor cuttingwood,
wood-derived materials andplastics.
Do not cut roundstock transverseto its
longitudinal axis without suitable jigs or
fixtures. The rotatingsaw blade could turn
theworkpiece.
Whensawingthinstocklayed on edge,a
suitable guidemust beusedforfirm
support.
Anyotheruseisnotasspecified. The
manufacturer is not liable for anydamage
caused byunspecifieduse.
Alterationof themachineor useof parts
notapproved bytheequipment
manufacturercancauseunforeseeable
damage!
3.2 Generalsafety information
Whenusingthistool observe thefollow-

Cutting hazard,even with the
cutting tool at standstill!

Do not jam work pieces.
Cut thin or thin-walledwork piecesonly
with fine-toothed sawblades.Alwaysuse
sharpbandsaw blades.
If indoubt, checkwork pieceforinclusion
of foreign matter (e.g. nails or screws).
Cut onlystockofdimensions that allow
for safeand secureholding while cutting.
Nevercut several workpieces at the same
time andalsonobundlescontaining
several individual pieces. Risk of personal
injuryif individual piecesarecaught by
thebandsaw blade uncontrolled.
Whencuttingroundstock, use a suitable
jig to prevent thework piecefrom turning.
Entanglement hazard!
Ensurethat nopartsofthe body
orclothing canbe caught anddrawninby
rotatingcomponents (
no
neckties,
no
loosefittingclothes;containlonghairwith
hairnet).
Nevercut work pieces containingthe
following materials:
- ropes
- strings
- cords
- cables
- wires

workingoutdoors wearing of non-slip

Dust of certain timber species(e.g.oak,
beech, ash) can causecancer when
inhaled: workonlywith asuitabledust
collectorconnected to thesaw.
Hazardgeneratedbymodi-
ficationofthemachine,or use of parts

Assembletoolin strictaccordancewith
these instructions.
Useonlypartsapprovedby the
equipment manufacturer.
Useonlytools(bandsaw blades)
conformingto EN 847-1:1997.
Do not change any parts.

Check toolfor possible damage priorto
anyuse: before operating the toolall

properlyanddo not jam. All partsmust be
correctlyinstalled andmeet all conditions
necessaryfortheproper operation of the
tool.
Damagedprotectiondevices orparts
mustberepairedor replaced byan
qualifiedspecialist. Havedamaged
switches replacedbya service centre. Do
notoperate toolif theswitchcannot be
turnedON orOFF.
Keephandles free of oil and grease.

3.4 Safetydevices
Upper bladeguard
The upperbladeguard (26) protects
against unintentionalcontact withthe saw
blade andfrom chips flyingabout.
Inorder for theupperblade guard to
provideadequate protectionagainst
contactwiththebandsawblade, it must
alwaysbe set ascloseas possible
againstthe workpiece(max. distance 3
mm).
Lowerblade guard
The lower blade guard (27) protects
against unintentionalcontact withthe saw
blade.
The lower bladeguard mustalwaysbe in
place andcover thebandsawblade while
the bandsaw is running.
Housing doors
The housingdoors (25) protectagainst
contactwiththe rotatingpartsinsidethe
machine.
Both housingdoors must be closed
while themachineis in use.
Pushstick
Thepush stick serves as an extensionof
thehandand protects against accidental
contact withthe sawblade.
Thepush stick must alwaysbeusedif
thedistancebetweenbandsaw blade
and aripfenceis less than 120mm.
Guidethepushstick atanangleof 20°
30° against thesaw table'ssurface.
Whenthepushstick is not used it can
bestored on thepush stick holder
providedatthebandsaw frame.
Replace pushstick if damaged.
4. Transport
• Set upper blade guide toitslowest
position.
• Removeprojecting accessories.
• Whenshipping,use original packing
if possible.
5. Machine Details

ON/OFF switch with emergency stop
• To start =press the greenswitch
button (29) .
• To stop =press the red switch
button( 28 ) or thecover( 30 )ofthe
ON/OFF switch.
Intheeventof avoltagefailurean
undervoltagerelay trips.This prevents
themachinefromstartingup whenthe
power isrestored. Torestart, thegreen
switch buttonmust bepressed.
The cover oftheON/OFFswitch
(30)
can
be safeguardedbya padlock.
Settingknobfor band saw blade
tension
With thesettingknob (31) the band saw
blade tensionis corrected, if necessary:
- Turningthesettingknobclockwise
increases the bladetension.
- Turningthesettingknobcounter-
clockwise reduces theblade tension.
Quick release lever
With the quickreleaselever (32) thesaw
blade tensionis released.

With thesettingknob (33) thetilt ofthe
upperbandsawwheel can beadjusted, if
necessary.Thistrackingadjustment is
requiredto havethebladerundead
centerontherubber tyresofthe band
sawwheels:
- Turning clockwise=blademovesto
therear.
- Turning counter-clockwise=blade
moves to thefront.
Speed adjustment
By shiftingthe drivebelt the bandsaw
can beoperated at two speeds (see
"Technical Specifications"):
. 500 m/min forhardwood,plastics
. 1000m/minfor all kinds of wood.
Caution!
Thedrivebeltmustnotrun
in adiagonalposition;thiswill damage
thebelt
Settingknobfordrive belt tension
Withthesettingknob (34) thedrivebelt
tension iscorrected, if necessary
l turning thesetting knob
clockwisereducesthe blade
tension
l turning thesetting knob
counterclockwise increasesthe
bladetension.
Saw table tilt
After looseningthe lockscrew (35) the
saw table (36) tilts steplesslythrough 45°
against theblade
Rip fence
The ripfence (37) clampsto the frontof
thebandsaw table;The rip fencecan be
usedonboth sides of the blade.
Mitre fence
The mitrefence isinsertedinto thetable
slot fromthe table’sfront edge. For mitre
cutsthemitre fence turns to60°inboth
directions For 45°and 90°miters positive
stops are provided. Tosetamitreangle:
loosenlockhandle (38) byturningit
counter-clockwise.
Riskof injury!
When cutting with themitre
fencethelockhandle must befirmly
tightened.
6.Initial Operation
Danger!
Startthe sawonlyafterthe
following preparations are
completed:
- the saw issecurelymounted ;
-
the sawtable is installedand
aligned;
- the V-belttension checked;
- safety deviceshavebeenchecked.
Connectthesawtothemainssupply
onlyafter all ofthe abovepreparations
arecompleted!Otherwisethereisa
riskofan unintentional startingofthe
saw, which can causeseverepersonal
injury.
6.1 Mounting
For afirmstand the saw mustbe
mountedona stable supporting surface:
1. Drill 4holes inthe supporting
surface.
2. Put fixing bolts throughthebase
plate andsecure with nuts.
Optimalworkingheight andstabilityis
providedbythesteel stand,whichis
alreadypreparedformounting thesaw.
Information regardingthe assemblyofthe
standis givenintheaddendumto these
operatinginstructions.

6.2
Installing theSaw Table
1. Fit limit stopscrew (40) to the
undersideof the low house .
2. Guidesaw tableover the bandsaw
bladeandplaceit onthetable
trunnion.
3. Attachthesaw table withfoureach
screws (39) and washers to the table
trunnion.
6.3Aligning theSaw Table
The sawtable needstobealignedin two
planes
- laterally,inorderforthebladetorun
deadcentre throughthetableinsert;
- at right anglestothe bandsawblade.
Sawtablelateral alignment
1. Loosenthe four fastening screws (35)
thathold thelower support of table
trunnion.
2. Align working tablesothat theblade
runsthroughthecentre ofthetable
insert’s slot.
3. Tightenthe four fasteningscrews (35)
again.
Aligningtheworking tableatright
angles to the bandsawblade
1. Raiseupperbladeguidefully(see
"Operation").
Check bandsawbladetension(see
"Initial operation").
2. Loosen lock lever .
3. Usingatrysquare, setthetableat
rightangles to thebladeandtighten
thelock lever again.
4. Loosenlockingnut (41) andadjust
limitstopscrew (42) untilit touches
the working table.
5. Tighten lockingnut.
6.4 Installing the Fence Guide
Extrusion
Fasten the fence guideextrusion (58) with
four each thumbscrews andwashersto
thesaw table.
6.5 Installing the Rip Fence
Therip fence canbeusedonboth sides
ofthe blade.When the ripfence ismoved
fromone sideofthesawbladetothe
other thefence extrusion (44) needs tobe
reversed.
Placerip fence on the ripfenceguide.
Tightenthelock lever (45) of the rip
6.6Installingthe PushStick
Holder
Note:
If thesawisto bemountedon
thestand,thepushstickholder can
onlybeinstalledafterwards.
1. Turnahexagonnut onacap
screw (46) ,all the wayup tothe
unthreadedpart of theshank.
2. Turncap screw intotheholeonthe
left sideof thebandsaw.
3. Tighten hexagon nut hand-tight only.
4. Hang pushstick (47) onthecap
screw whennotin use.
6.7 Dust collector connection
Danger!
Dust ofcertain timberspecies
(e.g.oak,beech, and ash)cancause
cancerwhen inhaled:alwaysusea
dust collectorwhenworking in
enclosedspaces(airspeedat the
saw’sdust extractionport 20 m/s).
Caution!
Operationwithoutadust
collector isonlypossible:
- outdoors;
- for short-termoperation(up to
max. 30minutes);
- with dustrespirator.
- Ifnodustcollectorisusedchips
will accumulate,whichneedtobe
removed periodically.
Connect dustcollectororindustrial
vacuum withasuitable adaptortothe
dustextractionport.

6.8
Tensioningthe BandSaw
Blade
Danger!
Too muchtensioncan
causetheband saw
blade tobreak.Toolittletensioncan
causethedriven band sawwheelto
slip and theband saw blade to stop.
1. Raiseupperbladeguidefully(see
"Operation").
2. Checkingthe blade tension:
-Checktensionbypushing with a
finger,halfwaybetweentable andupper
blade guide, against the side of theblade
(thebladeshould flexnotmore than1-2
mm).
. Checkadjustmentat the bladetension
indicator. The scaleindicates the correct
adjustmentindependenceon theband
sawblade width.
3. Correcttensionif necessary:turning
the setting knob (48)
counter-clockwiseincreasesthe
bladetension. Τurning the setting
knob (48) counter-clockwisereduces
theblade tension.
6.9ConnectiontoPower Mains
Danger!High voltage
Operate the saw in only in
a dry environment.
Operate thesaw onlyonapower
sourcematching thefollowing
requirements(see also"Technical
Specifications"):
-mainsvoltageandsystem
frequency conformtothe voltageand
frequency shown on themachine's
nameplate;
- fuseprotectionbyaresidual
currentoperateddevice(RCD)of
30mAsensitivity;
- outletsproperlyinstalled, earthed
and tested;
Note:
Check withyourlocal
ElectricityBoardor your electricianif in
doubt whether your houseservice
connection meetstherequirements.
-Makesure the powersupplycable
isout oftheway,sothatit doesnot
interferewiththework and doesnot
poseatrippinghazard orwill get
damaged.
- Protectthepower supplycable
fromheat,aggressiveliquids and
sharp edges.
-
Use onlyrubber-insulated
extensioncablesofsufficientlead
crosssection(3 x1.5mm 2 ,for
machineswith3-phase motor:5x
1.5 mm 2 ).
-
Donot pullonthepower supply
cableto unplug.
1. Whenthe saw isassembled andall
safetydevicesare installed, connect
itto thepowersupply.
2. StartsawbrieflyandturnOFF
immediatelyagain.
3. Check theband saw blade'sdirection
ofrotation: in thecuttingarea it
must runfromthe top downwards.
4. Ifthebandsaw blade turnsinthe
wrongdirection, unplugthepower
supplycableat the saw.
5. Havetheelectricalconnection
changed bya qualified electrician !
6.10 Connection to Power Mains
Assemblythecabinet stand
- check contents against thepartslist.
- Locate back panelandright&left
endpanelsonto the base panel,
secureusing hex bolts andwashers.
- Fastentheright&left endpanels to
the backpanel, secureusinghex
boltsand washers.
- Fastenthe frontbracing memberon
totheright&leftendpanels
assemble using hexbolts and
washers.Fastenthe shelf on the
right &left endpanels using
remaininghexbolts andwashers.
- Fit thedoorontothe endpanel.
- With assistanceliftbandsaw and
carefullypositioninplaceontopof
work-stand.
- Fix in positionusing hexbolts,
through washer, cabinetstand,
washer, hex nut, band sawand lock

washerthensecure onupper side
withhex nut. Repeat procedureforall
fourcornersbefore tighteningfully.
7. Operation
Danger!
To reducethe riskofpersonal
injuryasmuchaspossible,the
followingsafetyrecommendations
shouldbeobservedwhenoperating
thesaw.
Usepersonal protection gear:
-
dustrespirator;
- hearingprotection;
- safetygoggles.
Cutonly one work pieceat a time.
Always hold thework piecedown on
thetable.
Do not jamthe work piece.
Do notattempttostoptheband saw
bladebypushing the work piece
againstits side.
Ifthetype of workrequires,usethe
following:
- worksupport
－
forlongstock,
which wouldotherwisefall offthe
table on completion ofthe cut;
- push stick –if distanceripfence –
band saw blade δ 120mm;
- dustcollector;
- anappropriate jig when cutting
round stock,tokeepitfrom
turning;
- asuitableguide forfirmsupport
whencuttingthinstocklayedon
edge.
Beforestarting work,check to see
that the followingarein proper
working order:
- bandsawblade;
- upper andlowerblade guard.
-
Replacedamaged partsatonce!
- Assume correct work position(the
bandsawblade'steeth must point
towardstheoperator).
- Never cut severalwork piecesat
thesametime andalsonobundles
containingseveralindividual
pieces.Riskof personalinjuryif
individualpiecesarecaught by
the saw bladeuncontrolled
Drawing-in/trapping hazard!
- Donot wear loose
clothing,jewellery, or gloves,
whichmay getcaughtand wound
up byrevolvingmachineparts.
- Containlong hairwith a hairnet.
- Nevercut stocktowhichropes,
cords,strings,cablesand wires
are attachedor which contain
such materials.
Upper bladeguideadjustment
Theheightof theupperbladeguide (39)
needs to beadjusted:
- priorto everycuttingoperation,to
accommodate the heightofthework
piece(theupper blade guideshould
beset approx. 3mm abovethework
piece);
- after adjustmentsofbandsawblade
or sawtable (e.g. bandsaw blade
change, tensioningofthe bandsaw
blade, sawtable alignment).
Danger!
Beforeadjusting the upperbladeguide
and saw table tilt:
- switch machine OFF.
- waituntilthebandsaw
bladehascome toa
completestop.
Set upper bladeguide (50) with the
adjustingknob (49) tothedesired
Cutting speed adjustment
1. Open thelower housingdoor.
2. SlackenV-beltbyturningthecrank
clockwise
3. Put V-belt on the requiredpulleyof
thedrivingwheel (lower bandsaw
wheel)and the correspondingmotor
pulley –note label inside thelower
housingdoor.
Caution!
The V-beltmust runeitheron both
front or bothrear pulleys.
NeverhavetheV-beltrun
diagonally!
- V-beltonfrontpulley=low speed,
hightorque.
- V-belton rear pulleys=highspeed,
low torque.
4. TightentheV-belt againbyturning
thecrankcounter-clockwise
(halfwaybetweenthe pulleys the

V-belt should flexapprox. 10 mm).
5. Closethe lowerhousing door.
7.1Sawing
1. Chooseandinstallatableinsert
extrusion suitableforthetype of cut to be
performed:
- tableinsert extrusion withanarrow
slot forstandardcrosscuts only;
- tableinsert extrusionwithbevelled
slot forbevel cutsalso.
2. Adjust thebandsaw bladespeed.
3. If necessary, adjust thetable tilt.
Riskofkickback (work piece is
caughtbythe bandsawblade
and thrown againsttheoperator)! Do
not jamanyworkpieces.
4. Select ripfence and tabletiltforthe
typeofcuttingoperation to becarried
out.
5. Set upperbladeguide3 mm abovethe
work piece.
Note:
Alwaysmakeatrialcutina
pieceof scrap toverifysettings; correctif
necessary before cutting thework piece.
6. Place work pieceonthe sawtable.
7. Plug in.
8. Startsaw.
9. Cut workpiece in asinglepass.
10. Switch off if nofurthercuttingisto be
done immediatelyafterwards.
8.Care and Maintenance
Danger!
Priorto all servicing:
- switch machine OFF.
- unplugpower cable.
- waituntilthe saw has come toa
completestop.
• Checkthatall safetydevicesare
operational again after each service.
• Replace defective parts,especially of
safetydevices,onlywith genuine
replacement parts.Partsnot tested
andapproved bytheequipment
manufacturercancauseunforeseen
damage.
• Repair and maintenance workother
thandescribedinthissectionshould
onlybe carried outbyqualified
specialists.
8.1 Changing the Band saw
blade
Danger!
Risk ofinjury,evenwiththe
band sawbladeatstandstill.Wear
gloveswhenchanging blades.
Useonlysuitable bandsaw blades
(see"Technical specifications").
1. Loosenthe fourthumb screws (50)
andremovethefenceguide
extrusion (51) .
2. Openboth housing doors.
3. Settheupper bladeguide (55) to its
lowest position.
4. Loosenquickreleaselever (53) until
thebandsaw blade has slackened.
5. Toremovethe bandsawblade,
guide itthrough
- the slotin the saw table,
- the bladeguard on theupperblade
guide ,

tyres of the band saw wheels.

band sawwheels.
9. Closebothhousing doors.
10. Then:
- tensionbandsaw blade(see"Initial
operation").
- align band saw blade (see "Care and
maintenance");
- align bladeguides (see "Care and
maintenance");
- letsaw testrun for atleastone
minute;
- stopsaw, unplugandrecheck
settings.

Guide
Theupperbladeguide consistsof:
- a thrust bearing (supportingthe band
saw blade from the rear),
- twoguidebearings (providinglateral

All bearingsneed to be readjustedafter
everybandsawblade changeand/or
trackingadjustment.
Note: Periodically check all
bearingsforwear, if
necessaryreplacebothguidebearings at
the same time.
Adjusting thethrustbearing
1. If necessary,align and tightenthe
bandsawblade.
2. Loosenfixingscrew of theupper
bladeguide.
3. Alignupper blade guide
4. Tightentheupperbladeguide'sfixing
screw.
5. Loosen thethrust bearing's lock
screw.
6. Adjust thrustbearing position
(distance thrust bearing - band saw
blade =0.5 mm –if thebandsaw
blade isturnedbyhand, it mustnot
touchthethrust bearing).
7. Tightenthethrustbearing lock
screw.
Adjusting the guide bearings
1. Loosen locking bolt (58) .
2. Setguidebearings (59) withthe shaft
(60) against thebandsaw blade.
3. Turn bandsawwheelbyhand in a
clockwisedirectionseveraltimesto
bringtheguidebearings incorrect

Tyre
Periodicallycheck band sawtyresfor
wear. Replaceonlyinpairs:
1. Removebandsaw blade(see "Care
andMaintenance");
2. Lift bandsawtyrewithasmall
screwdriver, thenpull off theband
saw wheel.
3. Mount newbandsaw tyresand
reinstall thebandsaw blade.
8.6Replacingthe TableInsert
The tableinsert needs replacement when
its slot hasbecomeenlargedor damaged.
1. Remove table insert
