Daytime Running Lamps / Automatic
Headlamp Control
Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)can make it easier
for others to see the front of your vehicle during the
day. DRL can be helpful in many different driving
conditions,but they can be especially helpful in the
shortperiods after dawn and before sunset.
A light sensor
on top of the instrumentpanelmakes
the DRL work,
so be sureit isn’t covered.
The DRL system will make your high-beam headlamps
come on at
a reduced brightness when:
The ignitionis on,
The headlamp switchis off and
The parking brake is released.
When the DRL areon, only your reduced intensity
high-beam headlampswill be on. The taillamps,
sidemarkerand otherlampswon’t be on.Your
instrument panelwon’tbe lit up either.
When it’sdark enough outside, yourDRL will turnoff
and yourlow-beam headlamps will turn on.The other
lamps that come on withyour headlampswill also
comeon.
When it’s brightenough outside, the low-beam
headlamps willgo out and DRLturns on your
high-beam headlampsat reduced intensity.
To idle your vehicle with the DRL
off, set theparking
brake whilethe ignitionis in
OFF or LOCK. Then start
your vehicle.The DRL will stay off until you release
the parking brake.
As with any vehicle, youshould turn on the regular
headlampsystem whenyou need it.

Seats and Seat Controls
This section tellsyou how to adjust the seatsand
explains reclining seatbacks and head restraints.
2-Way Manual Front Seat
I A CAUTION:
You can lose control of the vehicle if you try to
adjust a manual driver’s seat while the vehicle
is
moving. The sudden movement could startle and
confuse you,
or make you push a pedal when you
don’t want to. Adjust the driver’s seat only when
the vehicle
is not moving.
Lift the bar under the frontof the seat to unlock it.Slide
the seat to where you
want it and release the bar. Try to
move the seat with your body to be sure the seat is
locked into place.

Driver’s 4-Way Manual Seat (Option)
The driver’s seatmay have a bar anda handle underthe
front edge of the seat.Lift the bar
to unlock the seat and
to slideit forward and backward.

Driver’s Side Power Seat (Option) Reclining Front Seatbacks
FRONT (A): Raise the front of the seat by holding the
switch up. Hold the switch downto lower the front
of
the seat.
CENTER (B): Move theseatforward or backward by
holding the control to the frontor to the back. Raiseor
lower the seat by holding the controlup
or down.
REAR (C): Raise the rear of the seat by holding the
switch up. Hold the switch down to lower the rear
of
the seat.

Lift the lever to release the seatback, then move the
seatback to whereyou want it. Release the lever to lock
the seatbackinto place. Pull
up on the lever without
pushing on the seatback, and the seatback will
move forward.

But don’t have a seatback reclined if your vehicle is moving.

Sitting ina reclined position whenyour vehicle is
in motion can be dangerous. Even if you buckle
up, your safety belts can’t do theirjob when
you’re reclined like this.
Theshoulder beltcan’t
do its job because it
won’t beagainst yourbody. Instead,it will be in
front
of you. In a crash you could gointoit,
receiving neckor other injuries.
The
lap belt can’t do its job either. In a crashthe
belt could
go up over your abdomen. The belt
forces would be there, notatyour pelvic bones.
This could cause serious internalinjuries.
For
proper protection when the vehicle is in
motion, have the seatback upright. Then sitwell
back
in the seat and wear your safety belt properly.
Head Restraints
Slide the head restraint upor down so that the top of the
restraint
is closest to the top of your ears. Thisposition
reduces
the chance of a neck injury in a crash.

Safety Belts: They’refor Everyone
Thispart of the manual tells you how to use safety belts
properly. It also tells yousomethings you should not
do
with safety belts.
And it explains the air bag system.
Don’t let anyoneride where heorshe can’t wear
a safety belt properly.
If you arein a crashand
you’re not wearing
a safety belt, your injuries
can be much worse.You canhit things inside the
vehicle or be ejected from it.You can be seriously
injured orkilled.
In the same crash,you might
not be if youarebuckled up. Always fasten your
safety belt,and check that your passengers’ belts
arefastened properlytoo.
Itis extremely dangerous toridein
a cargoarea,
inside
or outside of a vehicle. Ina collision,
people ridingin theseareasaremore likely to be
seriouslyinjured orkilled. Donot allow peopleto
ridein anyarea of your vehicle that is not
equippedwith seatsand safety belts.Be sure
everyone in your vehicle is ina seatand using a
safety belt properly.
