AInsert the Setup Wizard CD-
ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
The Setup Wizard should run
automatically, and the Wel-
come screen should appear. If
it does not, click the Start but-
ton and choose Run. In the
field that appears, enter
D:\setup.exe (where “D” is the
letter of your CD-ROM drive.
NOTE: Click the User Guide
button to open the PDF
file of the User Guide.
BTo install the Adapter, click the
Install button on the Welcome
screen.
CAfter reading the License
Agreement, click the Next but-
ton if you agree, or click the
Cancel button to end the
installation.
DThe Setup Wizard will ask you to
choose a wireless mode. Click
the Infrastructure Mode radio
button if you want your wireless
computers to network with
computers on your wired net-
work using a wireless access

Me, or 2000, you must run the Setup Wizard to install the software before install-
ing the hardware.

point. Click the Ad-Hoc Mode
radio button if you want multi-
ple wireless computers to net-
work directly with each other.
Do not use the Ad-Hoc mode if
you want your wireless comput-
ers to communicate with com-
puters on your wired network.
In the SSID field, enter the SSID
of your wireless network. The
SSID must be identical for all
devices in the network. The
default setting is linksys (all low-
ercase). Click the Next button.
EIf you chose Infrastructure
Mode, go to step F now.
If you chose Ad-Hoc Mode,
select the correct operating
channel for your network. The
channel you choose should
match the channel set on the
other devices in your wireless
network. Click the Next button,
and go to step F.
FThe Setup Wizard will ask you to
review your settings before it
starts to copy files. Click the Yes
button to save these settings,
or click the No button to
change any settings.
GAfter the files have been suc-
cessfully copied, the following
screen will appear. Click the
Exit button.

IMPORTANT FOR WINDOWS 98, ME, AND 2000 USERS: If you are using, Windows 98,
Me, or 2000, you must run the Setup Wizard to install the software before installing
the hardware.
ARemove any CDs or disks from
their drives, and turn off your
desktop PC.
BOpen your PC’s case, and
locate an available PCI slot on
the motherboard. Check with
your computer manufacturer
for instructions.
CSlide the Adapter into the PCI
slot. Make sure that all of its pins
are touching the slot’s con-
tacts. You may have to apply a
bit of pressure to slide the
Adapter all the way in.
DAfter the Adapter is set firmly in
place, secure its fastening tab
to your PC’s chassis with a
mounting screw. Then close
your PC’s case.
EAttach the external antenna to
the Adapter’s antenna port.
FPower on your desktop PC.
If your PC is running Windows 98,
Me, or 2000, proceed to step G.
If your PC is running Windows XP,
proceed to step 3.
Installing the Wireless-B PCI Adapter into
Your Desktop PC
IMPORTANT FOR WINDOWS XP USERS: You must install the Adapter’s hardware
before installing the software.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the
antenna is positioned straight up
into the air, at a 90° angle from
the Adapter. This will ensure opti-
mum wireless operating range
and performance.

GAfter the Adapter has been
physically connected to your
computer, Windows will detect
the new hardware.
Windows will begin installing
the driver files in your operating
system. If Windows asks you for
the original Windows CD-ROM,
insert the CD-ROM, and direct
Windows to the proper location
for the CD-ROM (e.g., D:\).
Congratulations! The installation of
the Wireless-B PCI Adapter
is complete.
If you require additional informa-
tion, please consult the User Guide
(English only) or visit the Linksys
website.

AWindows XP will automatically
detect the Adapter. Insert the
Setup Wizard CD-ROM into your
CD-ROM drive. Click the radio
button next to Install the soft-
ware automatically (Recom-
mended). Then click the Next
button.
BAfter Windows has finished
installing the driver, click the
Finish button.
CAfter installing the Adapter, the
Windows XP Wireless Zero Con-
figuration icon will appear in
your computer’s system tray.
Double-click the icon.

Setup Wizard. If the Setup Wizard runs automatically after the Setup Wizard CD-
ROM has been inserted, click the Exit tab.

DThe screen that appears will
show any available wireless
network. Select a network, and
then click the Connect button.
EIf your access point has WEP
encryption enabled, the
screen in Figure E will appear.
Enter the WEP key of your wire-
less network in the Network key
field. Click the Connect but-
ton.
To find the WEP encryption key
settings of the other wireless
devices in your network, such
as the WAP11 Wireless Access
Point, you may use any
device’s web-based utility to
check the WEP encryption
screen for the correct key
entries. If you are using other
manufacturers’ access points,
refer to their documentation for
more information about WEP
encryption.

NOTE: Windows XP does not support
the use of a passphrase. Enter the
exact WEP key used by your access
point.

FThe screen in Figure F will
appear if your connection is
active.

refer to your access point’s user
guide, or visit www.linksys.com.
For more information about wireless
networking on a Windows XP com-
puter, click Start and then Help and
Support. Enter the keyword wireless
in the field provided, and press the
Enter key.

APlacer cd-rom’en med guidet
konfiguration i cd-rom-drevet.
Den guidede konfiguration
køres automatisk, og figur 5-
1vises. Hvis det ikke er tilfældet,
skal du klikke på knappen Start
og vælge Run (Kør). Indtast
D:\setup.exe (hvor “D” er
bogstavet for cd-rom-drevet) i

Indtast SSID’et for det trådløse
netværk i feltet SSID. SSID’et skal
være identisk for alle enheder i
netværket. Standardindstill-
ingen er linksys (små
bogstaver). Klik på knappen
Next.
EHvis du vælger Infrastructure
Mode, skal du gå til trin F nu.
Hvis du vælger Ad-Hoc Mode,
skal du vælge den korrekte
kanal til netværket. Den valgte
kanal skal passe til den kanal,
der er indstillet på de andre
enheder i det trådløse
netværk. Klik på knappen Next.
FI følgende skærmbillede bliver
du bedt om at gennemse ind-
stillingerne, inden filerne
kopieres. Klik på knappen Yes

ketter fra drevene, og sluk
pc’en.
BÅbn pc’ens kabinet, og find et
tilgængeligt PCI-stik på bundko-
rtet. Henvend dig til din com-
puterleverandør for at få

CSkub adapteren ind i PCI-stikket.
Kontroller, at alle stikbenene
berører kontaktpunkterne i
stikket. Det kan være nødven-
digt at trykke temmelig hårdt for
at skubbe adapteren helt ind i
stikket.
DNår du har placeret adapteren
korrekt, skal du skrue den fast
på pc’ens chassis ved hjælp af
fastgørelsesbøjlen. Luk derefter
pc’ens kabinet.
ETilslut den eksterne antenne i
adapterens antennestik.

AWindows XP finder automatisk
adapteren. Placer cd-rom’en
med guidet konfiguration og
brugervejledning i cd-rom-dre-
vet. Klik på alternativknappen
ud for Installere softwaren
automatisk (anbefales). Klik
derefter på knappen Næste.
BKlik på knappen Udfør, når Win-
dows er færdig med at install-
ere driveren.
CWindows XP har et indbygget
konfigurationsværktøj. Når du
har installeret adapteren, vises
ikonet for Windows XP Wireless
Zero Configuration på com-
puterens proceslinje. Dobbeltk-
lik på ikonet.

Hvis dette netværk har WEP-
kryptering aktiveret, skal du gå
til trin E.
Hvis dette netværk ikke har
WEP-kryptering aktiveret, vises
skærmbilledet i figur E. Kontrol-
ler, at feltet ud for Tillad, at jeg
opretter forbindelse til det
markerede trådløse netværk,
selvom det ikke er sikkert er
markeret. Klik derefter på Opret
forbindelse, og gå til trin F.
EHvis WEP er aktiveret, vises
skærmbilledet i figur F. Indtast
WEP-nøglen for dit trådløse
netværk i feltet Netværksnøgle,
og indtast det igen i feltet
Bekræft netværksnøgle. Klik
derefter på Opret forbindelse.
Du kan bruge det webbaser-
ede hjælpeprogram i en
hvilken som helst enhed til at få
vist WEP-krypteringsskærmbille-
det med de korrekte nøgleind-
tastninger for andre trådløse
enheder i dit netværk. Hvis du
bruger andre leverandørers
access points, skal du se den
tilhørende dokumentation for
at få yderligere oplysninger om
WEP-kryptering.

Configuration (Automatisk konfigura-
tion af trådløse enheder) understøtter
ikke brugen af adgangsord. Indtast den
nøjagtige WEP-nøgle, der bruges af dit
trådløse access point.

AInsérez le CD-ROM Setup Wizard
(Assistant de configuration) dans le
lecteur de CD-ROM. L'Assistant de
configuration devrait démarrer
automatiquement et l'écran ci-des-
sous devrait apparaître. Si ce n'est
pas le cas, cliquez sur le bouton Start
(Démarrer), puis sur Run (Exécuter).
Dans le champ qui apparaît, entrez
D:\setup.exe (où "D" représente votre
lecteur de CD-ROM).
REMARQUE : Cliquez sur le bouton

BPour installer la carte, cliquez sur le

si vous voulez que plusieurs ordina-
teurs sans fil puissent communiquer
directement entre eux. N'utilisez pas
le mode Ad hoc si vous voulez que
vos ordinateurs sans fil puissent com-
muniquer avec les ordinateurs de
votre réseau câblé.
Dans le champ SSID (Nom SSID),
entrez le nom SSID de votre réseau
sans fil. Le nom SSID doit être iden-
tique pour tous les périphériques du
réseau. Le paramètre par défaut est
linksys (entièrement en minuscules).
Cliquez sur le bouton Next (Suivant).
ESi vous sélectionnez Infrastructure
Mode (Mode d'infrastructure), passez
directement à l'Etape F.
Si vous avez sélectionné Ad-Hoc
Mode (Mode Ad hoc), sélectionnez
le canal de fonctionnement correct
pour votre réseau. Le canal que vous
choisissez doit correspondre au
canal défini pour les autres périph-
ériques de votre réseau sans fil.
Cliquez sur le bouton Next (Suivant),
puis passez à l'Etape F.
FL'Assistant de configuration vous
demandera de vérifier les
paramètres que vous avez définis
avant de commencer à copier des
fichiers. Cliquez sur le bouton Yes
(Oui) pour enregistrer ces paramètres
ou cliquez sur le bouton No (Non)
pour les modifier.
GUne fois les fichiers correctement
copiés, l'écran suivant apparaît.
Cliquez sur le bouton Exit (Quitter).
Passez à l’étape 2.

REMARQUE IMPORTANTE POUR LES UTILISATEURS DE WINDOWS 98, ME ET 2000 :
Vous devez exécuter l'Assistant de configuration (Setup Wizard) pour installer le logiciel
avant d'installer le matériel.
ASortez tous les CD ou disques de leur
lecteur et éteignez votre ordinateur
de bureau.
BOuvrez le boîtier de l'ordinateur et
recherchez un connecteur pour carte
PCI disponible sur la carte mère. Pour
plus d'instructions, adressez-vous au
fabricant de votre ordinateur.
CEnfoncez la carte dans le connect-
eur PCI. Assurez vous que toutes les
broches de la carte sont enfichées
dans le connecteur. Pour ce faire,
vous devrez peut-être appuyer un
peu sur la carte pour l'enfoncer com-
plètement.
DUne fois la carte en place, fixez sa
tige métallique sur le châssis de votre
ordinateur à l'aide d'une vis. Fermez
le boîtier de votre ordinateur.
EFixez l'antenne amovible externe au
port d'antenne de la carte.
FAllumez votre ordinateur de bureau.
Si votre PC fonctionne sous Windows
98SE, Me ou 2000, passez à l’étape G.
Si votre PC fonctionne sous Windows XP,
passez à l’étape 3.
Installation de la Carte PCI sans fil B sur
votre ordinateur de bureau
REMARQUE IMPORTANTE POUR LES UTILISATEURS DE WINDOWS XP : Vous devez
installer la carte avant d'installer le logiciel.
IMPORTANT : Assurez-vous que
l'antenne est placée en position verti-
cale, perpendiculairement à la carte
(voir illustration ci-dessus). Ceci per-
met d'optimiser la plage de fonction-
nement entre les périphériques sans
fil ainsi que les performances.

GUne fois la carte physiquement con-
nectée à l'ordinateur, Windows
détectera le nouveau matériel.
Windows commencera alors à
installer les fichiers du pilote sur votre
système d'exploitation. Si Windows
vous demande d'insérer le CD-ROM
Windows d'origine, insérez celui-ci et
indiquez à Windows l'emplacement
correct du CD-ROM (par exemple
D:\).
Félicitations ! L'installation de la Carte
PCI sans fil B est terminée.
